Harvest Room - Fairmont Hotel Macdonald Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated our anniversary there and everything was fantastic from beginning to end. We had the chowder as our appetizers and the lamb and risotto for entrees-both flavourful and delicious. Dew, our server, was attentive but not overbearing. They even surprised us with champagne and dessert to help us celebrate! A great restaurant for special occasions!
The best dining experience! I made a reservation on OpenTable for The Harvest Room and had included a note that we would be celebrating my boyfriend's 30th birthday. When we arrived, the host took us to our table with a great view and wished him happy birthday which was so thoughtful. Our server Jacob was so friendly and generous and the food was incredible. My boyfriend had opted for the three course meal with the wine pairing and Jacob was kind enough to provide few sips for myself so I wouldn't be left out which I wasn't at all expecting. They also brought out a small piece of cake, decorated with "happy birthday" written in chocolate and a lit candle and two flutes of champagne--such a thoughtful surprise!! They were also able to accommodate for our schedule as we had tickets to a play later that night--service was timely without feeling rushed.
The Harvest Room is everything you need for a special occasion: high end ambiance while still welcoming and intimate, outstanding customer service, attention to detail and superb food that was flavourful and perfectly presented. Thank you to Jacob and The Harvest Room for making our evening so special. This place will absolutely be our first choice for celebrations in the future!
Really good food and service, but a large noisy group (not obnoxious- just noisy) really detracted from what we had hoped would be a protracted dinner and conversation over our 30th anniversary. Would have made more sense to put that group in another room at the Mac and left the regular pleasant quiet atmosphere of the Harvest Room intact.
overall experience was so-so. we had to ask for more plates at the buffet as they'd run out. there was a small food selection which is fine if the food is outstanding, but it was just ok. so i wouldn't recommend to anyone based on value for money. Beautiful venue though
A wonderful Christmas brunch. The room is lovely and was decorated beautifully. The food was delicious and very nicely presented. Our server was friendly and very accommodating. We didn't feel rushed and were able to enjoy our table conversation without a lot of surrounding noise although the room was full with other groups enjoying brunch. It's always a pleasure to visit the wonderful MacDonald Hotel. It has a wonderful "feel" to it. The only disappointment I'd say was the dessert section. There were a few selection of squares which were beautiful but a larger variety of dessert choices would have been nice.
The venue was stunning but the food wasn’t very good. My husband had the bison and he loved it but I had the sasusage and it was terrible. The dessert was great and the brunch the next morning was wonderful but for the price and quality I don’t recommend it for dinner.
We booked this restaurant as a pre-Christmas get-together for our of town friends... We started the evening hosting the two other couples in our home for drinks and hors d’oeuvres ; then went on to Hotel MacDonald for a beautiful dining experience and delicious meal, the waiter after discovering that 2 of us were celebrating birthdays brought out champagne and dessert brownies to share!
We loved the entire evening and even took photos in front of the beautiful Christmas tree,
Excellent evening and dining experience...

Wow wow wow. Amazing. I’m a picky eater and this was one of the best meals I’ve had. Went with a friend for the Christmas lunch buffet in the harvest room and could not be happier. Service was great, atmosphere just right and the food - everything from salads to desserts was mouth watering. New Christmas tradition for sure!!!
Service was very attentive and accommodating for dietary requirements. The menu was creative and the food was well presented and very tasty. It was for anniversary and the Management provided a wonderful little plate of sweets with Happy Anniversary written on one of the chocolates and 2 complimentary flutes of champagne. We had a wonderful dining experience.
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. Our server, Jacob, was delightful and was very knowledgeable and was an incredible server. The food was divine and I would happily order what I had again. Since it was our anniversary they threw in an extra dessert and two free glasses of prosseco for my girlfriend and I.
Hotel McDonald is a beautiful building. The Harvest Room is classic in design but lackluster in ambience. The patio in the summer is amazing. The service is undeniably the best you will find anywhere, as it should be for the cost of dining. We were a party of 4 for a milestone birthday. We all chose the 3 course meal option. The roasted carrot salad was a hit, the murelle bisque was good but the harvest chowder was extremely fishy tasting. I wouldn’t order it next time. All the entres were good. The rack of lamb was cooked well but lacked in flavor a bit. The wine list is well stocked. The deserts were all acceptable. The sticky toffee pudding was the standout. The creme brûlée was missing a vanilla bean in the custard, it was quite bland but the brûlée was great. The chocolate cake needed a bit more chocolate, it was good but not rich. We were all presented with a small glass of bubbly and a piece of cake was given to the birthday girl, complimentary. As I said, did we feel special? You bet! We had a wonderful time. I just wish the food was more of a highlight.
Service was underwhelming, no water refills and the water was room temperature, ice would have been nice. With dessert we weren't even asked if we would enjoy coffee. The food was good but not great, on the salty side. Have been many times previously but seems to going down hill. Won't return anytime soon.
We ordered the Beast Board and what a “beast” it was. Great value and tons of food for $99. Easily 4 people could have shared it.
Service was top notch. Special thanks to Ivan for providing great service.
They even gave us a Happy Anniversary cake and sparkling wine, Complimentary!
We’ll definitely come back.
There were only 2 other tables dining in the restaurant while we visited. Unfortunately they were seated right beside us. One of the other parties included a very loud talker that made our experience somewhat unpleasant. The food tasted good and was cooked well. The service overall was good but I was disappointed that I had to ask for coffee with my dessert. We used a Groupon so were limited on what we could order. The meal ended up being quite expensive for what we ate.
