Harvest Oro Valley Ratings and Reviews
We made a reservation the day before for my birthday through Open Table, but when we arrived Harvest didn't have the reservation in their system. I'm left wondering why we even use Open Table at all. We did get seated, but sat for 20 minutes before our drink/meal order was taken. Our waitress walked passed several times, but too quickly to flag her down. We couldn't help but notice that the couple seated next to us, who arrived after we did, got their food, ate it and paid for it by the time our meals arrived. (They had a different waitress. Our mistake for sitting where we did, I guess.) The food was good, but the $50 pre-tip/tax bill for 1 appetizer (at happy hour pricing), 1 entree and 2 glasses of happy hour priced wine seemed high. Despite indicating through Open Table that the meal was a birthday event, there was no acknowledgement of the occasion. Harvest usually recognizes birthdays with a small cake and candle. All we got was a question whether we wanted dessert or not. We didn't want dessert at that point. We just wanted to go home. Maybe they don't do the birthday thing anymore. In conclusion, the food was good but, the service was so-so. I think that Harvest in Oro Valley has declined since the east side Tucson location was opened. I believe that management is over their head with 2 locations. It used to be better, believe me. Next time we'll try Cafe Torino, next door.
Harvest is our "go to restaurant", from a quick bite after golf or a special occasion. They are consistently a quality restaurant. Excellent service and great food! The menu offers something for everyone, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and entrees which are very creatively prepared. Sunset menu offers reduced prices til 5:00 pm, and Happy Hour lasts til 7:00 pm.This is a FAMILY RUN business, and it is obvious that the family takes great pride in what they do!! There is usually a family member who stops by to inquire about the food served. Once, a few years ago, I emailed about a concern, and the owner contacted me to invite us back for a complimentary dinner. So thoughtful!! You won't find another restaurant so willing to please!!
Overall the food and evening there was OK. I made the reservation through Open Table and didn't realize I'd be put at an outdoor table. Although there were heaters, they were inadequate for the chilly evening. Our waitress was perky but quite busy flitting between tables. Our water was never refilled. My salmon was good, however my husband ordered the duck which was under cooked for his taste - seared more like you would with ahi tuna. Two other dinners ordered the gnocchi with chicken and were disappointed, though both liked the french onion soup. On the plus side, they have tasty gluten free bread and several gluten free dinner options. I've eaten at Harvest at River Road several times and prefer that location. Perhaps since it was the holiday season we just didn't hit this location on a good night.
The Harvest is consistently excellent, and is my favorite restaurant in Oro Valley. As a "bread fiend", I am always asking for the basket to be refilled - fresh, warm, soft on the inside with a slight crust on the outside. And softened cherry butter on top- yum! The soup of the day was cream of mushroom - very rich and tasty with a hint of onion. The scallops were large and nicely browned, served over a delicious corn risotto. And chocolate covered cherry truffles were a delicious finish. Best of all, the prices are reasonable for the high quality of the food. I'll be back soon!
Their food is exceptional. The lamb shank had a middle eastern flavor combined with great root vegetables and potatoes. My wife spinach pasta was homemade and exceptional. Service was good this time. Sometimes the front runs a little slow. We go there for the food and was please the service was good.
From the appetizer menu on, this is a treat. Several kinds of tacos on appetizer menu to share. I almost always get fish tacos, but with group, we shared both the short rib and the smoked pork tacos - - both were excellent. Generous, meaty portions, tender and juicy. Will have to bring my spouse to try them! The fish specials are delicious and change all the time. Smoked salmon cobb salad is excellent!
Had a nice dinner with a friend I haven't seen for a while. We all agree that Harvest is wonderful. And on Tuesdays, they offer half-price on all bottles of wine! So even more wonderful.
Our server was attentive without being overbearing. She took her time telling us about the specials, so we could actually understand what was being offered.
Two of us enjoyed the fish tacos, one had the special potato leek soup, one inhaled the gnocchi chicken scallopini. A gentleman being seated near us actually stopped and asked what that dish was because it looked so good! And he ordered it.
No room for dessert sadly. Next time!
Harvest is one of our regular places that we count on to be good every time. Well, sometimes even the best have off nights. At least I hope it was a rare experience and not a sign of things to come...
We waited and waited for our order..and then the table next to us got their orders before us and they came in 15 minutes after us! So we waited...finally we got the servers attention. He said we are on delayed service because it is so busy!! What? and why did the table next to us get their order first???? Finally they bring our food and my husband's burger and fries were cold and it was medium rare not medium well. My medallions were cold too! (this dish so good it was still ok even cold) So it appears that our order must have been misplaced...hmmm. The server asked my husband what he should do? Should he speak to the manager??? He shouldn't have to ask, he should of just taken care of it!! My husband said we were just going to go so we needed boxes, another wait... He came back and took off the rare burger from our bill and he offered a free dessert. Nice, but I had to wait 15 minutes for a piece of Cheesecake!!
We normally like this restaurant but I feel they need to know when they have a bad night so they can hopefully improve so we can feel comfortable to return.
Haven’t visited Harvest for awhile! Certainly was pleased! Wonderful diverse menu....so much variety from which to chose. Apple cider sorbet awesome. Portions are a little too large. But patrons must have large appetites. Be nice if smaller portions would be an option!
First timer. Just moved here 2 weeks ago. We were driving home from furniture shopping and got hungry! Looked up burger places on line. Far more extensive menu, however. Wound up meeting some real nice folks, too!!! Creative drink list. Blueberry martinis and strawberry Mojitos w chimichurri burger. Heaven!!!
Definitely will become one of our favorite places to dine. The host was very gracious and congenial. Our waiter, Frank, was very friendly and personable, even though he was pretty slammed that late afternoon.
