I was very much looking forward to PostMark - but did not know they had live music. We were moved to the smaller room on the right, but still the music was too loud - and there was also background music that was also too loud - as were the guys next to us. The risotto was very good but was served in an immense dish that had a little indented space at the bottom, and the risotto was in that little space. Seemed quite pretentious. The server was lovely and tried to get the noise down and brought us complimentary dessert.
Oh NOOOOO--we have been to Postmark 4 times in the 2 months they have been open. The first 3 times were outstanding in every area, with exception maybe of noise level, but it has always been noisy, so you should expect it. They had just changed the menu before this visit, so this is the 3rd menu we have seen. With each menu the prices are going up, but unfortunately with this latest menu the food went down. We (3 out of 4) had the chestnut gnocchi . The flavor was fine, but the consistency of the gnocchi was that of slice off cookie dough. VERY dense--the blue cheese on top was nice but there was also no sauce whatsoever. This made the dish very dry and honestly, just weird. The forth person had the mushroom risotto, and it was very tasty. I am hoping they change the menu again soon! Service was excellent.
Postmark was a really enjoyable experience. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. My wife very much enjoyed her Sazerac which was on the cocktail menu. The wine list had a lot of interesting wines that were reasonably priced. Interesting experience in that the wine I selected was unavailable due to a mistake in delivery. So the manager gave us the wine that was delivered in error at the same price even thought it was a more expensive wine. I only knew this by chance but wanted to share given that I think it reflects well on the management. The entrees were excellent.
This was a business meeting dinner but because of the delicious meal, elegant but casual atmosphere, and great service it turned into a relaxing meeting where we could comfortably talk business but also enjoy small talk with each other. The food -- starting with a delicious seafood appetizer of oysters and shrimp -- and delightful bottle of Chardonnay -- were paired well thanks to the recommendation of our server, and the courses came out paced well too, again thanks to the excellent service. Three of us enjoyed steak, chicken and fish and we were all very happy with our choices. We split a piece of pecan pie just to have a little sweet ending. All in all, this local gem of a restaurant in a great Cincinnati neighborhood near the University is well worth trying -- if I lived in the area, I would be a regular.
Our server, Hope, was very good. Engaging and genuine. Food varied. Four grad special accompanied by overly sweet items- a French toast, fruit compote and pumpkin butter ? No balance of savory and sweet. Perfect spatzle and smoked pork belly but again overly sweetened by the Pumpkin butter and not needed. Brussels sprouts with pig ears was overly sweet. The ingredients appear to be first rate and well prepared but in several instances lacked subtlety and balance.
We had to wait an uncomfortably long time for our meals to be served. Our experience would have been nearly perfect had we been informed that the items we ordered required extra time to prepare. When diners are seated, the staff is encouraged to make a practice of asking whether guests have any time constraints. If the answer is "yes" the staff can recommend dinner items accordingly.
So I am the guy that Opentable hates I rarely give positive reviews for highly rated restaurants because I feel others have accurately rated the a restaurant and one more ditto is not meaningful or persuasive. However I will jump in when things are less than I expect and particularly for establishments that have high ratings. We ate here tonight, after 15 minutes of ordering a bottle of wine that I could see sitting at the bar I walked up and asked to taste it and take it to our table. The experience went downhill from here. The service was not slow but almost nonexistent. There is a noticeable difference between a mechanical service approach and someone who is truly interested in your experience and satisfaction. This was more the latter and had no true engagement in what this experience was about. Lastly there are times when the food is so overwhelming that it makes up for the rest but we were totally unimpressed. Neither of us finished our entrees, the portion size was large, but the flavors went for complexity rather than create dishes that tasted good. Maybe we picked a bad night and bad dishes but not a redo for us. Be careful here this was not a good experience.
This was a birthday dinner. We had an excellent Bordeaux from 2005 for a bargain price. Dinner was great: salmon& duck breast plus good 1st courses. The portions were perfect, not too much not too little. People that complain about prices or portions must not eat out often or at different kind of restaurants, or maybe they’ve never been to NYC or elsewhere in the world. We like informal fine dining. Can be a bit loud depending on who sits near you.
We went to Postmark based on Polly Campbell's 4-star review. Although we don't always agree with her numbers of stars, she was right on in this case. Outstanding in all departments. We're eager to go again. Valet parking is a necessity in this area; if not available, we would not have come. My "review nickname" is perfect, as La Crema Chard is my favorite wine!
i live out of town, and wanted to dine someplace different and special for my birthday. Postmark was perfect. The service people are knowledgeable, outgoing, and just what one expects out of restaurants
The food was creative and tasty. If i lived here, i would come here at least once a month for a great meal!
The food was exceptional but the noise level was so painful that it was almost impossible to have a conversation without yelling at each other. We will probably not be back because of that reason because conversation is a big part of the dinner experience...
First time visit to Postmark. Nice comfortable seating inside. Menu is small but has a lot of excellent choices. Nice wine list and beer choices. The timing of the food delivery was too slow and we had issues with the waiter.
But overall, we would consider dining here again.
My husband and I love Red Feather in Oakley, and their new sister restaurant, Postmark, did not disappoint. The same fantastic service, excellent wine and cocktail list and ambiance were carried over from Red Feather. Our waiter actually moved over to Postmark from Red Feather and clearly the group invests in their employees. His knowledge of the wine list was impressive, and he was able to steer us toward choices that would pair well with our food. The menu is designed for sharing, with the nice addition of a small starters section (charcuterie, cheese plate, bread and butter, hors d'oeuvres). We went to dinner with two friends and had the hors d'oeuvres, two appetizers to share, two second plates to share and entrees plus dessert and left feeling pleasantly full without being stuffed as the portions are nicely sized (and priced accordingly). We will definitely be back!
Postmark has a lot of potential, but still rough around the edges (literally). We love Red Feather, but the food at Postmark has a ways to go to compare taste wise (shrimp and grits was ok but not as good as Red Feather), and my favorite part of the meal, the bread pudding, had a thick burned crust that ruined the flavor on many bites. Honestly, it's so close to Red Feather in terms of offerings and style, I'll probably just continue to go to Red Feather instead from now on...
Our experience at Postmark was definitely a highlight for 2017. Being from Philadelphia where there are many, many dining options, Postmark was as good as any in my hometown. The service was flawless and the food and selection--break, app tray, entrees--were incredible. Wines were quite reasonable and varied . The room was formal yet comfortable and there was a great vibe.
So happy this venue has been purchased and revamped. Food and service were great. Many new and interesting menu items. Love steak tartare and theirs is very good. Both entrees were exceptional--had the spatzle and the lamb bolognese special. Servings were just the right size and served hot. Our server was excellent-very pleasant and knowledgeable .
Noise level is still a little much. Some fabric has neen added but could use some more
We've loved going to Red Feather and La Poste/Harvest, so we were looking forward to this dining experience.
My dining companion ordered roasted vegetables and duck, both of which he enjoyed.
I ordered French Onion Soup and a Spaetzle dish. My soup arrived with the cheese topping burnt, as in completely black, not nicely toasted, and very salty. Our server noted that many patrons had commented on the saltiness of the soup, and as to the charred cheese topping, she just shrugged. My spaetzle dish was lukewarm, but I think it is very difficult to achieve a piping-hot arrival temperature with a noodle dish. I make it at home and love it, and I was curious how they could achieve it in a restaurant.
Our bill came to $100. In the future we will stick to ordering simpler entrees, like cheeseburgers, at Postmark.
