Harvest at The Hotel Hershey Ratings and Reviews
The atmosphere IS tremendous. The cocoa dusted scallops with cauliflower purée were delicious. Pork ribs are tender and always a good choice as well as the pork tenderloin, a cider bourbon glaze with swiss chard and roasted turnips. The pumpkin doughnuts are the perfect dessert to share with your party. Our host, Keith, was very charismatic and happily sat us at a seat by the window.
We started out on the wrong foot here. Our host tried to seat us along a long bench of tables, away from the windows. We asked to be seated at one of the tables next to us, with a window view. He said sorry, but these are for larger parties of 3 or 4. While we dined he then sat 2 individual couples at the window tables that we had requested. The food was ok , and the service adequate. It is noisy inside this restaurant.
At the conclusion of our meal, I told our server that we were disappointed in being told that the window tables were for 3 or 4 guests, and the host sat 2 at both tables, next to us. She replied - Sorry, there is nothing that I can do about it. I replied - Well you can tell the manager that we are unhappy !
On the way out the door, we approached the host who sat us and asked - Why did you tell us that the tables next to the windows were for paties of 3 and 4, and then set down 2 at both tables ? He then replied that they had reservations for window tables, and we did not.
We thru up our hands in disgust and left. We will never go back there again, and when asked will tell our sad story about the Harvest restaurant. Last Saturday was my wife's 70th birthday
Food was very good. We had the calamari for an appetizer which was excellent. For dinner we had the baby back ribs, filet, and lobster tail. All were very good but the sides were nothing special. For dessert we had peanut butter pie and chocolate cream pie. Both were good but the peanut butter was awesome. Service was very good and accommodating. It was my birthday and they brought me a free small cupcake with a candle. Overall is was a pleasant evening at a nice and clean restaurant.
Food was great and service was good. The only issue we had was our kids were getting antsy and we were there celebrating both birthdays. Our server had to rush their dessert and no one from the restaurant sang happy birthday at our table like they did for the other birthdays that were being celebrated at the restaurant. Other than that it was a good experience.
The people were nice- waitresses, staff etc. The prices were not cheap but not bad either so that was OK. The problem I had was with the quality of the food. We ask for a medium rare steak and it came out bloody and still mooing. The cole slaw tasted like paint, the broccoli was dry and tasteless, the Bearnaise sauce was all lemon, the calamari was overcooked and brown, the portions were mediocre, scallops juice was burnt, etc. The food was edible, but I wouldn't recommend it. Sorry for the review but the place was a disappointment.
Our second trip and this time the Hotel was much busier which altered the ambience of the restaurant , as well as the food and service . The plates were not as crisp looking , as if plating was rushed. Portions seemed altered as well. Service was busy but polite. On our first visit the servers much more attentive.
I would go back but I will be more careful to chose when. I also feel some sort of dress code is in order. I know you can’t dictate class but gym shorts and football jerseys on Saturday nite should be discouraged.
We enjoyed Harvest very much. We knew it would be upscale since it was at Hotel Hershey, but it was not stuffy and was very accommodating to our young children. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable, she knew about every beer they had on tap which was very impressive. Food was great, dessert was chocolatey deliciousness.
My husband and I went to Harvest for a date night. We had a wonderful time. We began with drinks in the bar and enjoyed the complimentary pool and shuffleboard available. When our table was ready, we had a wonderful meal served by a server who was both friendly and very real. We would definitely go again.
I️ went for a dinner with several friends so I had the opportunity to try several dishes. Amazing service and fresh, delicious food, as always! Start with the she crab soup and pretzel crusted calamari! For salads the lobster Cobb is always a staple but I️ branched out and tried tried the roasted root vegetable salad and my friend enjoyed the beet and kale! I️ loved she cocoa dusted short rib and my friend’s cowboy steak and lobster tail was amazing! Don’t forget the pumpkin doughnuts or chocolate bourbon cake for dessert! Definitely will return!
The restaurant was not crowded at all, it was October 13 around 2 PM for lunch. They claim to be fresh and organic and yet the turkey sandwich was not fresh tasting, but tough meat. The fries were served limp and cold; I had fish and it was just ok but the cole slaw that they claimed to be made in house was just cabbage that they cut up with no dressing on it. We also tried the pieroggies and we should teach them how to make them. You could not find the wait staff to get more coffee and we were very very disappointed. We did did not bother to stay for dessert. We love the Hotel Hershey, but management and the Chef should take some lessons from the Hotel, for this was a huge disappointment.
My husband and I were looking for a nice place to celebrate our anniversary. Making a reservation online was quick and easy (FYI, it was for a Wednesday), and when we arrived we were seated immediately. The staff were attentive without being annoying, and the food although a bit pricey, arrived promptly and tasted amazing! We also got a free treat since it was a special occasion. The booth we were seated in was very comfortable and private, and the decor and ambiance was lovely. If I were to have a complaint (and please take this with a grain of salt) it would be that the restaurant has large windows, but the booths are quite tall which limited our view of the beautiful Hershey countryside.
Overall, an excellent experience.
Sadly,we were disappointed with this visit. We ate here 2 years ago and the meal was terrific so we were looking forward to another great dinner. We both enjoyed 2 different chocolate martinis and we had the sampler soups which were very tasty. I had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken which was just so-so. My wife ordered the pork tenderloin with sweet potato dumplings and Swiss chard with a cider Demi. The meat and chard were fine but the dumplings were hard as a rock and we sent them back. Our waitress offered her another option—mashed potatoes with bacon and scallions which were good but a bit too salty. We decided to pass on dessert although there were some nice choices. I can’t remember our servers name but she was very attentive and gave us good suggestions.
This restaurant was an excellent choice for me and my friend it was her birthday and the waitress even brought her out a cupcake with Happy Birthday written on it. I did not tell he it was her birthday but she paid attention and picked it up in conversation. Highly recommend!!!!
The glasses and butter dish had dishwasher spots and puddles of minerals from the dishwasher. The menu was not varied and small. The hanger steak was charred on the outside and rare on the inside and not the good kind of charred. The fries were terrible. The fish was overbreaded and small pieces. There were only 5 small pieces of crab in the soup. All overpriced.
reading reviews i thought people were being picky. Nope. Went for date night and sat on top of others. Tables to close for private conversations. I could hear what the couple ordered two tables away. We were dressed up and were seated next to a family that had obviously just finished at the park. Shorts, tank tops and tired children. All is fine but not a place i would return to for a date night. The food was really good. Service was fantastic! Pricy for what you get. More of an expensive family place than romantic date night.
