Harvest at Homestead
The Harvest culinary team pulls from Tennessee culture--and from our inherited legacy of culinary generosity--to bring friends & family together over expertly executed dishes. This is the Marshall’s take on a farm-to-fork restaurant that curates fine food from ingredients plucked straight from our backyard plots.
*Brunch: Saturday & Sunday: 10:00am-3:00pm
Please note the Glass House Bar is 18+
The ambiance is great. The food was good though one of the appetizers wasn’t quite warm enough. They were more than happy to bring out more that was much better. The weather is colder and with it being an older house it was chilly inside sitting close to a window.
For us, HM is hit or miss. This time my husbands pork chop wasn’t done.
Good food, good atmosphere, quality staff. Accommodated severe allergy with support of what was safe to eat in menu.
Pizza and burgers were good. Sides on Chicken dish were not to my liking, although the chicken itself was very tasty.
Always excellent - beautiful atmosphere especially at Christmastime. History is fascinating and staff is engaging. Food is unique and amazing. The bar in a separate house is warm and friendly with great food as well.
Food was great service was lacking. They sat us in the bar area. Was not pleased with that.
Food was delicious and each room of the home is decorated in a historical theme. A wonderful combination of history and wonderful food. A great place to take guests!
It was one of the best brunches I have had in a long time. The deviled eggs and fried oysters were delicious. The atmosphere in a 200 year old home makes the meal even that more special. We will be back!
Always a great tome at The Manor.
Harvest is usually spot on, but we had a mediocre dinner this last visit. Appetizers (ham&cheese, Brussels) were outstanding, but the salads and entrees were not good. Beet salad had 4 half wedges of beets the size of cherry tomatoes and the goat cheese was powdery and tasteless. Short ribs (3 small cubes) came out tough and cold and the scallops 3) were overdone and grits were gummy compared to previous times. We’ll be back for brunch but may be not for dinner. Also with a reservation, we were seated in the atrium instead of the main house (even though it was almost empty). The staff mentioned an event going on at the barn, but that’s no excuse for poor food prep in the main dining areas.
Being new to the area, I was looking for a place to take my wife out for her birthday. The place came highly recommended, but the experience was the opposite from start to finish. When we walked in, two people were talking and didn't acknowledge us for almost 5 minutes. After being acknowledged, we were shown to our table where there was some confusion surrounding if we were in private seating. Once resolved, it took just over 10 minutes to have a waiter approach our table. The irony is it wasn't that busy.
We ordered drinks and when arrived, it was incorrect. We ordered food and when arrived, it was also incorrect. The jr. servers wouldn't acknowledge when they came by the table. When we finally addressed with the waiter with the comedy of errors of our experience, he apologized and left. A manager came by shortly thereafter and handed us our check. While she did graciously discount the bill, I felt as though I was being asked to leave and made mention of it to the manager. She apologized as well. We paid our check and not one person said a word to us as we left.
It was a very disappointing experience and hopefully the management reads this review to ensure others aren't treated this way. They should be embarrassed and we will never go there again.
The food was creative and delicious. The oysters for our appetizer were delicious and cooked to perfection. The salad featured lettuces grown on their farm and was light and full of fall flavors. The Pork entree was our favorite. Expertly seasoned and cooked, accompanied by some roasted brussel sprouts. The braised short rib was tender and full of flavor as were the grits. We shared a dessert special that was amazing.
Each of the dining spaces are all different....our favorite being the Library, a more cozy and intimate space.
The service was great and all the staff was friendly and efficient. We plan on coming back and eating in the cellar and enjoying the chef's creations.
The food was amazing and the service was great. We had never been to Harvest at Homestead before and our server offered to give us some history of the mansion if we were interested. However, when we asked questions about the property and decor, she didn't seem to have a lot of knowledge. We still enjoyed the meal and walking around the property after dinner. We went on-line to look up the history once we got home from dinner, but we kind of felt like the server should have had a little better knowledge, especially since she offered that to us at the beginning of the meal.
My sister was visiting from Fl and our evening experience was amazing. As always the food was fantastic and every bite was delightful. Our waiter was always so energetic and gave us a tour of the house. Really set the night off for her bday dinner. My husband said his only recommendation is cocktails that were made using actual ingredients and not mixes. There was no Tabasco sauce for his Bloody Mary (lol). Next time I will have him bring his own 😀😀. Wonderful evening and a special thanks for making my sisters bday special.
Best food in the area. Never disappoints. The
Happy Hour deal that runs til 7:00 is something we always take advantage of. We were there to celebrate October birthdays. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was a home run & so we’re the scallops. We always reserve a table in the bar. I ❤️ that room. Get to Homestead if you haven’t been
homestead manor has fresh, quality food - not processed crap like you get in chain restaurants - ask for Tony - he is an amazing server!!!
Fabulous food and service, will become a regular!
Hats off to the new chef 👨🍳! We enjoyed our flavor-filled meals very much!
Fantastic food - the best we’ve had in the greater Nashville area since we moved here several years ago. Beautiful old manor, tastefully and uniquely decorated. Splendid, efficient, yet very friendly, service.
The food was excellent and the presentation was great!
We had friends in from IL and all of us had tasty food. Our server was very nice and mindful. Our friends were impressed with the Manor and loved each room and its theme.
My family and I enjoyed a great brunch at Homestead Manor!! The grounds are beautiful and the décor in the historic house was lovely. The service was excellent and the food and cocktails were delicious. The menu had a good variety of breakfast and non-breakfast foods. We highly recommend Homestead Manor and look forward to going back.
Everything was as delicious as always. Though it was dead quiet when I was there last, they were sold out of my selected entree... not a big deal, just surprising given how quiet it was. Only disappointment was the dessert was not fresh... it had been recently defrosted and was still just this side of frozen in the middle (a cake).
The bar atmosphere was great and outdoor seating would be great in the right weather. My date liked her shrimp and grits I was disappointed in my Benedict and greatly disappointed in the biscuits and the condiments that went with them.
The service was poor.
My wife and I have been to homestead manor a half dozen times now and have never beeen disappointed.
Food was great. I guess they do scallops by weight bc first time I had 5 and this last time they gave me 3. I can’t remember the size of them, but I know I had five last time. The server was scattered, nice but all over the place. Didn’t pre-bus well, didn’t notice empty glasses, had to ask for refills, and he walked by numerous times, not being petty, like 4 times he saw are table with empty glasses. He told my dad twice he was bringing him a knife for his porchop (which was amazing) finally brought it when he had two bites left, I mean he didn’t really need it, but we sat right next to the kitchen. I don’t know if they were short that night but the sever just seems overwhelmed. We will be back though.
I am going to have to come back and try again because I feel like I just picked the wrong things on the menu. We had an amazing server. She was friendly and hospitable. She is new so wasn't as knowledgeable about a lot of things on the menu, but we could tell that she was willing to go out of her way to answer any questions. The atmosphere is pretty nice and didn't clash with the history of the house. I like that each room seemed to have a different theme. My husband and I spent a large portion of the dinner trying to figure out what kind of wheel molds were displayed (yep, we're nerds).
As for the food, though...
The Crispy Brussel Sprouts appetizer was delicious... we just about licked the skillet clean.
I chose the Short Ribs which are my normal go-to at a good restaurant. The sauce was delicious but the actual meat was unseasoned. Once the sauce was gone, the meat was pretty inedible. My husbands trout was delicious, though.
We had dessert, and again, I feel like I ordered the wrong thing. The salted chocolate tarte was VERY salted. So salted that it completely overpowered the chocolate. My husband, however, ordered the bread pudding... which was amazing.
So, I am torn. I think we just need to go back and try something else on the menu.
I met 2 friends for Sunday brunch & we enjoyed it very much. Food was tasty, service was great. Beautiful setting.
I wish they had a vegan option. The food was very good but there was nothing on the menu for Vegans except a salad.
We love Homestead and have been here many times! Each time we find something new about the place that makes us fall in love with the estate that much more. Look forward to many more visits here!
Overall I was a little disappointed with our experience, mainly due to our service experience. We were a little early to our reservation and the hostesses were kind but not very communicative. I'm assuming they were trying to get a table ready for us since we were early and that is the reason we felt a little in the dark of what was going on and when we would be seated. The main issue was with our waiter. He was not as friendly and didn't offer much insight when I asked him about two dishes. The whole experience of initially being asked for our drink order, food order, and bill took way too long. All three of us in the party noticed and felt forgotten. The menu looked outstanding and I was so excited about my food. It was good but was lacking some flavor I was hoping for (I ordered the feta & truffle pizza). The ambiance was really great and made me want to come back to explore what else they had to offer as far as spaces. I will come back for another taste of the menu and second chance with service in hopes that it is a better experience than the first.
The ambiance of this restaurant is a gem. It is simply stunning. I wish I can sit there all afternoon. The Brussels sprouts were delicious! The staff was very welcoming; however, seemed understaffed and way too busy for the number of customers that came in to eat. Our water glass was empty most of the time we sat to eat. The other breakfast dishes were VERY salty. Mine in particular - the biscuit, although probably not salty on its own, soaked up the salty juice from the sautéed greens and the ham (flavorful but SALTY) felt unhealthy to consume. I wish the dish was balanced with fresh greens or baked potatoes with little seasoning to balance out he sodium content of the dish.
We had a 5:30 reservation and got stuck in traffic. I called to let them know and they were pleasant and accommodating. We were seated immediately when we arrived. Our server was friendly and knowlegable and told us about the history of the house as well as the food. The food was excellent for all four of us. We agreed that we would recommend Homestead Manor to others.
Great food, slow service for a Thursday night, overall
Best restaurant around!
Nice experience. Food was good, not outstanding, but very good nevertheless. Love the old home & especially the history.
Delightful service. Dinner and drinks were crazy good!
This was our first visit but we will be back. Good service and delicious food.
