I haven’t been here in a few years and the quality of food has decreased drastically. Also they were clearly lacking items needed to properly serve us - juice for the DIY mimosas came in rocks glasses, cream for coffee cake in a mug with a spoon, etc.
Delicious food; amazingly attentive, friendly staff!
We visited Boston for a bachelorette weekend. When our waitress asked what brought us the Boston, we told her and the beer rep for the night came over shortly to give us complimentary drinks. The waitress then surprised us by buying us an additional round. She also made a list of fun places to visit in Boston for a variety if experiences.
On top of that, the goat cheese dip was tasty, and came as a large appetizer serving for our table. Their cocktail selection was excellent. Two members of our party raved about the blueberry lavendar lemonade, while another enjoyed a non traditional margartia. I enjoyed a burger; both the patty and the egg that adorned the top of it were cooked perfectly. The french fries were hot and crispy.
We highly recommend!
Service and ambience
The restaurant was convenient, a short walk from our hotel. The food was better than we expected and the service was great!
A neighborhood go- to. Always enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Harvard Gardens.
Solid, good food. Service was great.
Harvard Gardens is a Beacon Hill staple and it's very close the T (Charles/MGH stop). Perfect for a beer after work and brunch on the weekends. They have a great "appy hour" with half-priced apps 5-7pm on weekdays and the breakfast/brunch is killer. Definitely a must when you're hanging on the hill.
Food is consistently good, and the service is friendly. Nice ambiance as well.
Burger was good. Chips that come with burgers are horrible. $105 for family of 5 including tip. Good, not great place. Liked the atmosphere.
Lively, popular place. Way too noisy. Wait staff is attentive. Average food.
Our waitress was fantastic. She was attentive and very personable!!
Food was amazing! Definitely want to go back with friends!
My wife has celiacs disease (no wheat, grains etc) so we have to be careful where we eat. Took our 2 sons and nephew. The 5 of us had a great meal - soups, burgers, salads - all tasted great. Music was good, very casual eating place. Reasonable prices. They have a gluten free menu and my wife saw no after effects of cross contamination which means the kitchen staff was careful. My wife was very happy. Service was good. Food was brought out quickly - it wasn't busy at 5pm on Saturday.
We will go back again.
On weekend mornings they open at 11am and are a great place to take extended family for a brunch that includes both high-chairs as well as mimosa bucket.
Great food and service. Friendly staff with great recommendations. Vegetarian options.
Not gonna lie, service wasn’t good. Weird dynamic with the server from the get-go, and our meals were brought out without cutlery - we had to go request them from someone. Other than that, ambiance was very fun and food was very good. Although I wish the brunch menu had been more specific about which dishes came with potatoes.
Just arrived in Boston and wanted a hearty bite in a vibrant bar. Bang! This place checked all the boxes with the bonuses of great friendly staff & service and a reasonable price. Will definitely swing by again.
Serviceable, tasty sandwich and iced coffee at a convenient place and time, with friendly service.
Dominique was a wonderful sever!
We had a very nice lunch here on Friday before heading across Cambridge Street to visit a patient at MGH - very convenient in that regard. We both had the Fish Tacos. There were three good-size tacos nicely presented, delicious. Den had fries & I chose the salad side and both were very good. We both had iced tea which comes unsweetened or sweetened so we were both happy. HG’s had an attractive, low-key decor, the service was right on, the prices are reasonable, the noise level was low and the women’s bathroom was spacious and clean. It was just what we were looking for.
Great food, the fish and chips were crispy and fresh. Great service. Definitely recommend!
Did not know they hosted live music on saturdays during the summer! Had a 7:30 reservation and were yelling across the table to hear each other. Music was great just not what we had in mind.
Reservation for 8:00pm, table was not ready until 8:30.
Excellent food at a very good price!!
Hard to hold conversation, Noise level was not "Energetic", it was just too LOUD !!
Went there for first time after the 7 PM New Years eve fireworks on Boston Common after seeing this place on OPEN TABLE. Waitress was very attentive , made some good recommendations. Service was excellent; place seemed well staff and very cooperative group service. There was a no cover entertainment that started at 9 pm to celebrate New Years Eve. Had burger which met expectations and my companion had the fish and chips also good. Nice find for a spontaneous New Year's eve dinner.
Good Menu options. All staff were pleasant and service was prompt.
Everything was okay except for the service. The service was terrible. We called ahead for a reservation for dinner and still somehow got seated at the table directly closest to the bar (there were open booths). And our waiter was TERRIBLE. He never told us his name, never made eye contact, half mumbled everything he said, forgot to put in a salad I ordered, double charged a beer for my boyfriend (didn't even apologize for the mixup) and at the end of the night he handed us the check without saying a word. So bizarre.
Excellent pizzas, delicious tomato soup, chicken breast sandwich the best. Service was excellent, attentive to the table
Exciting restaurant, but it was too exciting. I used it for meeting with my friends and colleagues. It was too loud and noisy to talk. We needed to shout each other. Anyway, beer and wine were very good, and the services were excellent.
Despite our reservation, we still had to wait 40 minutes to be seated
Great atmosphere and good food right across the street from MGH. Lost a star because everything was good, but not great. Service was not timed well.
Great everyday dining venue with excellent bar food
This is a dive bar with some food. Don't let the prices fool you.
Hip local spot with solid food. Menu has enough to satisfy both my wife and my tastebuds. Brunch is awesome. Highly recommend their St Germain Cocktail.
We really enjoy the Harvard Gardens - but this is the second time the staff has given us a table and then has asked us to move at 730pm- because someone else had a reservation.
The staff know we like to stay a little later, so they should have given us a table that wasn't reserved for a particular time. If we had known up front we would have asked for a different table. The wait staff that informed us of the move did not handle the situation very well, just said you have to go. Now we had a bill for more than $200- she could have asked us in a more positive manner--very bad PR for the place.
I met two friends at Harvard Gardens because it's about halfway between our respective offices. It was a good place for us to catch up - they have a small but solid beer selection, and the ambiance is fun but not so noisy as to hinder conversation. My friends enjoyed their meals (a burger for him, steak for her), but I would recommend avoiding the veggie burger.
We will not be returning.
I dine at Harvard gardens on a somewhat frequent basis. It is generally pretty good. The food is normally on point, and the service is standard.
Tonight my family was in town for my wedding, and I recommended HG. It may have been one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The waitress showed up for our drink order and dinner order. The food was dropped off by other staff, and no one checked on us again. We spent our entire dinner without drinks. No one checked on the food I r delivered the condiments we requested when the food was ordered. When we were done eating, three people immediately showed up to clear out plates.
It was clear that they were more interested in turning tables than providing an enjoyable dining experience.
First time trying their brunch- the food was good, but nothing to highlight. I personally prefer going for dinner (the butternut squash ravioli and the gnocchi are my favorites).
Lots of places to eat on Cambridge, across from Mass Gen'l complex and T stop. But this one a cut above, for decor, ambiance, and food. American Food/Pizza menu, basically, but usually a great seasonal dish or two. Had a Butternut Squash/Ricotta Cheese flatbread here one Autumn that was wonderful! Nice long bar and several high tops for those who want 'bar scene,' and nice cushy channel-tufted booths for regular dining with an art deco flair. Place is large enough to avoid the squished together feeling smaller establishments have, and decor classy enough to feel upgraded even with very reasonable menu prices.
Been there dozens of times over last 5 years ... and will look forward to next visit. Recommend if you're in the area.
Has a diner and very local feel to it so it's a nice place to stop in for quality brunch on the weekends. Nothing fancy but good food and prices
Although the restaurant advertised as opening at 10 and I made open table reservations for 10 am we were informed by a worker it doesn't open until 11 after waiting outside for 30 minutes. We were not the only ones under the impression the restaurant opened at 10am as there were several other groups of people waiting with us during the busy marathon weekend. I suggest updating the website information and not offering reservations when not open.
