Haru Sushi - Boston - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
I went here with a friend for Restaurant Week and it was fantastic! I was surprised at how slow it was given that it was a Thursday night, but it just made for a more quiet dinner which is a rarity in Back Bay. In addition to our Restaurant Week meal, we ordered drinks and seafood hot and sour soups. The drinks were not anything special, but the soup was incredible and loaded with perfectly cooked seafood! The miso chocolate brownie sundae was the perfect ending to our meal.
My girlfriends and I were celebrating a bachelorette weekend, so we came here for dinner. My friend enjoyed her cucumber maki, but a few of us ordered chicken teriyaki and it was not good. It was rubbery and tasted very processed. One friend couldn't even eat the chicken, just ate the side of rice. When the waitress came over, my friend expressed how she couldn't enjoy the chicken. The waitress said "besides that it was ok?" and my friend said she only ate the rice. When we got the bill, her inedible chicken teriyaki was on it! I kindly asked the waitress to please remove it, given her plate was fully intact and she didn't eat anything on it, aside from the side of rice. I couldn't believe we were still charged for it, but the waitress kindly removed it. Great atmosphere and awesome drinks, but maybe we caught the food on a bad night.
Although the food was good, the service was horrible. We stood around for over 10 mins just to get seated and the place was empty. No staff was around to seat us! When we finally got seated it took over 15 minutes for someone to come by and take our drink order. We should have walked out!
The food was unremarkable. The sushi was dry and tasteless. The restaurant was virtually empty, yet service was extremely slow and our order was not filled correctly. One dish was not served until we reminded the server. They did not charge us for it, but it was not a positive experience.
one of the worst experiences of my entire life- MICE WERE RUNNING AROUND UNDER THE TABLES, the staff then proceeded to tell me and my friend we were overreacting, and a employee was yelling at us to "get a job instead of eating at dinner" and compared our reactions to seeing the mice as if "it was a terrorist".
Upscale sushi restaurant. Very good service, high quality sushi with beautiful presentation. Could use a little more variety in the rolls offered on the menu (just about every one features tuna . . .) but that's picking nits and you can always ask for something different. Not cheap, but fairly priced.
I was there during restaurant week. I was surprised by the fish tacos - which was excellent as a Japanese version. The bento box was excellent with salmon teriyaki and wonderful vegetables and the desert was mochi (made in a unique way). The service could not have been better. Thanks!
Our server lacked focus and wasn't on the ball for a simple order. Our sushi came out with ingredients on it that weren't listed so we sent it back to be made according to the menu. The server and sushi chef fought about it delaying getting our roll so we just asked for the check.
Came in here with a friend to check out their prix fix restaurant week menu. The food was very tasty, and the portion was generous. Their green tea ice cream was one of the best that I've ever had, even compared to those I had in Japan. Great place for a friend get-together.
Love, love, love this restaurant. Every time we come we get the best, freshest fish and every dish is like a work of art. We also love the modern, understated decor. As sushi connoisseurs who have eaten at Japanese restaurants all over the city, this s still, by far our favorite.
