It was good. I wasn’t blown away, but good for the neighborhood and the TSQ “tax”.
Delicious food and atmosphere. Not the most inexpensive meal, but definitely worth the bite!
Superb all round. Stand out for us were the Tacos!!
Had a great dinner with my wife. The sushi rolls were outstanding as were the drinks. The waitress was polite and attentive. And the cheesecake dessert perfectly topped off a very nice evening. Will definitely go again.
Very slow service.
Not really an authentic Japanese restaurant. It’s the typical “Asian” restaurant style that seems to be a Chinese interpretation of Japanese food, which is not surprising since it’s owned by Benihana.
Not a bad spot. The seating was cramped as to be expected in NYC. The drinks were not impressive at all but the sushi was excellent.
Really great staff, managers, ready to help with special requests.
Good food. We ordered a king crab fried rice special item and it was pretty sparse on crabmeat. Overall very good food and service
Haru is a great restaurant that uses fresh ingredients in a unique way.. The only issue I have, is the inconsistency of some of the small plates. As I have eaten there numerous times, I have tried several
of the dishes. The blackened cod is one of my favorites. I ordered it again and found that this time, the piece of cod was much bigger and there were lots of grilled asparagus - the last time I ordered it, the fish
was much smaller and there were exactly four pieces of asparagus. The duck on my last visit included small doughy tacos with it, this time was much better - with thin scallion crepes. Perhaps they have hired another chef. If so, I enjoyed the food this visit much more. Except for the chicken wings I had to send back because they were cold. Otherwise, I would return, but expect a repeat of my last visit - not the one before!
Nice place, good food and service, but too noisy. My main complaint is though that the tables for 2 are wa-aay too crowded together: spaced literally 3-4 inches! If you take one table out of each row, people would enjoy their dining experience much more. It shouldn't be just a money-making machine.
We had a great time at Haru. Service and food were excellent!
We had a 5:45 reservation and didn’t get seated until 6:05. No one came by to take orders. We had to flag them down. Food finally came (after prompting) with 10 min until we had to leave for a show. Very disappointing
Nothing to write home about. Food was ok. We had edamame dumplings, one specialty roll and an app that I’ve already forgotten
Great apps and service was really nice. I recommend tomall
Perfect for a pre-theatre dinner. They accept reservations and at the same time they do not rush you through dinner. I recommend the Brussel sprouts. Delicious and the sushi is good too.
Excellent service from all! Thank you!
All of the food was great. The service was great. You have to sit really close to other people but I am fine with that. Will definitely be back.
Great food, comes out quick especially if you have theater tickets. Big menu lots of choices.
Excellent, friendly service. Good food. Loved the green tea ice cream and molten-like brownie dessert.
My favorite sushi restaurant as it's near my office. Our party was allowed to be seated even though we weren't all there. good drinks, excellent sushi and good service. Expensive but worth every penny.
The food was ok. The chicken was dry but the sushi was good.
Service was constantly ignored our calling and was slow
I brought my son here for a pre-theater dining experience on his birthday and it was fabulous. The sashimi platter was perfect. Everything was fresh and the service was excellent. Thank you.
Dinner and a show.
Very nice venue and attentive staff. Food was delicious.
If you're seeing both parts of Harry Potter & the Cursed Child - a 5:00 reservation here is PERFECT! Sushi is delicious and served quickly.
Bartender knew her sakes - she asked my what style I like and then offered me a taste before I committed. Restaurant was full and busy - pre-theater crowd - but service mostly attentive. Water glass regularly refilled. We ordered one roll to split and chirashi and thought the roll would come first but all arrived at the same time. I wished that the fish had been cut to smaller pieces but it was delicious and beautifully presented. Cost was reasonable for the value. I would return
We had a 6:30 reservation and tickets for an 8:00 show. We had so much traffic getting there and were so late that Open Table canceled our reservation. I called the restaurant and told them we were running so late but wouldn’t have time to eat anywhere else and still make our show. The tables were then all taken but I asked for the manager and explained the situation. We walked in the door at 7:15 and Niaz, the manager was waiting for us at the door and walked us right to our seats that he had waiting for us. We ordered our food and asked for a check and they were able to get us out of the way 7:45 so we could make our 8:00 show. Niaz was so helpful and saved our night!
Very good food but very loud and crowded!
I am almost afraid of giving such a rave review because then it will be harder to get in there! I had a 5:30 reservation on a Wed. we were seated right away and as requested, at a high top by the bar. Vickie, the bartender and also our waitress was amazing. She makes the best drinks and was attentive and super friendly even though she was very busy. We had happy hour drinks as well as "tapas" and a Madison Avenue Roll. All was fresh and delicious. Total bill including 5 drinks, 4 appetizers and 1 specialty roll, tax and 20% tip was $114. Not bad for NYC!
Haru is conveniently located in the heart of Times Square. Great place to get a solid good meal before a show or for a business lunch. The food is reliably and consistently good. No surprises. You won’t be knocked off your feet by spectacular food but you won’t be disappointed either. I’ve never had a bad meal here.
Made reservations here because it is right across the street from the Lyric Theater where my wife & I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts 1 & 2. We only had about 90 minutes to eat between parts, so we didn't want to have to walk far or deal with a place that didn't take reservations.
Seasonal special Pork Belly Bao was delicious! Sushi was good—fish tasted fresh but I wasn't a huge fan of the specialty rolls we picked. Dark Chocolate brownie was a delicious dessert.
Plus, while we ate, we noticed one of the cast members of Cursed Child eating at the table next to us, and partway through our meal actress Carol Kane came in to pick up a take-out order and drink some sake! You never know who you'll see in NYC!
Love it!! It's the ONLY sushi place for me. It makes the theatre that much better.
The food was amazing. We chose the Salmon Poke, which was awesome. The sauce was a perfect compliment. The edamame was good. The crispy brussel sprouts was off the hook! The specialty rolls we're excellent. The service was lacking but the overall experience was excellent. Would definitely return.
The food was ok, not amazing, the tables for 2 are so squeezed together between each other that we can barely move, the dessert was really bad, the tempura cheesecake. The service takes forever, the server is too busy with too many tables, it was a struggle to get the check. Not coming back!
Loved it! Great food and friendly staff, thank you!
Food was great! Location was perfect if you were seeing a show. Service was slow but she was very nice, just hard time getting our bill and cashing out so we had to almost run to make our show. 6:15 reservation, 8 pm show.
Haru is an excellent place, great atmosphere, fine food, great service
