Haru Sushi offers a good eating experience at a good value. We were there for happy hour, the coconut mojito I got was a little too sweet, but I don't really expect a sushi place to have good cocktails. In terms of food...the shishito peppers were kind of tasteless, but the miso soup was delicious (one of the best I've had). The sushi roll I got was really good too and filling! 2 minutes before happy hour ended, the waitress made sure to ask us if we wanted another drink, even though we hadn't finished our first. It was a little loud inside, but wasn't terrible.
For it's location, this place offers a nice respite from chain restaurants and the dirtiness of Times Square.
Excellent value for the quality of sashimi. Haru never disappoints!
I’ve been going to this restaurant for before or after theater dining for years and for the first time I had a terrible experience. The quality of the fish had really changed, it was terrible. It was chewy and didn’t taste fresh. Also, my guest and I found out that there’s apparently an up charge for just about anything, for example, switching from white rice to brown rice is apparently $3 extra. It just seemed petty.
Service was great, food absolutely delicious. Convenient stop in between Broadway shows!
Christmas trip Mother Daughter!
Good food, decent sized portions- very loud and sometimes the wait staff was hard to get attention
Food was adequate, but we only ordered happy hour items. Service was prompt, but not friendly. Tables were so closely packed together you could not get in/out without moving tables aside. We were so close to our neighbors (on both sides) that we could not avoid hearing everything they said. We left after 20 minutes.

Broadway show that night
Been to Haru before but it seemed the menu has changed for the better
Had a 5pm reservation
They had happy hour until 6 so enjoyed some lower prices
Such a better experience than going to Carmine’s
Great, quick service
Food was delicious. Restaurant was cold. Had to wait a loooong time for the sushi.

Diana was a wonderful server. Tuna Tataki to start. Sumo , Spicy Tuna Roll were all fantastic. Tito's and Asahi's made for a great night.
The food was average, the service fair

Great for our group of 9 business lunch. Could all hear one another and service was quick and food was good. Options for non-sushi eaters as well!
The small plates, especially the duck, were very good.
Location is perfect for a meal before a Broadway show. Food was fresh and well-prepared.
I indicated that at this late dinner, following a Broadway performance, we would be celebrating my husband's birthday. Haru Sushi did not disappoint. First, it seated us exactly how we chose to be seated. Second, our very attentive server answered our questions about the menu, provided additional assistance when needed, and greatly enhanced our birthday experience. My husband, who always enjoys a sashimi
platter at this restaurant, described the fish as "silky." I very much enjoyed the delicious vegetable rolls and crispy duck with scallion pancakes. We toasted the occasion with warm saki, a pleasant accompaniment to the food. The ice cream with birthday candle capped our delightful dinner. We were both very pleased with our birthday celebration.
Excellent food and service. Great place for pre-theater dinner. Reservations recommended. Nice variety of small plates; not just sushi.
Good sushi, good ambiance. Like it for business meetings.
Large selection. Excellent quality. Great service.
It is a convenient location to where we were seeing a show but we found the food to be pretty terrible. My daughter liked her fried rice dish but my husband and I did not enjoy the sushi or sashimi. The 'fresh' King Crab dumplings tasted like crab from a can. We will not be going back.
Very disappointed. I have been here before and it was great in the past. It was super crowded, noisy and the food was really just mediocre. Not cheap and for the value, I would not go back.
The soup and salads were excellent but the sushi was below average. We were pretty disappointed after reading all of the positive reviews. Maybe just an off night...
We were lucky enough to come before 6. All of the hot dishes for Happy Hour were great...and so were the cocktails.
We ordered the sashimi platter which was $38. Most of the fish had been frozen and of poor quality. Usually, sashimi is beautifully presented. This platter was not.
I will go again but only during Happy Hour.
Went for a pre-show early dinner. Service was slow but worked out fine since we had lots of time. Food was outstanding! We had the cauliflower tempura, shrimp & Scallop Shumai, Miso Black Cod, and some rolls! All were awesome!
Everything was terrific! Loved the food, service, and atmosphere and will definitely be back.
Muy bueno pero muy caro
We were very excited to get a reservation at Haru Sushi for New Years. It's only 1/2 block to Times Square and they allow you to step out and walk up the street to see the ball drop and return to the restaurant afterwards.
The food was good, but they were not prepared for a New Years celebration. We ordered the first 3 of 5 courses and then lost our waiter to work at the bar. They were very short-staffed! When we finally discovered our server was not returning and our plates were just sitting there, we asked the host to place our order. He was very apologetic, but it took our entree another 2 hours to arrive. We got to the restaurant at 8:15pm and didn't get our 4th course until 10:30pm.
Amazing food and service and perfect venue for new year eve celebration. Thank you. Definitely recommend !
Great experience overall! The bill wasn’t outrageous for getting two drinks, a variety of maki and small plate options, and dessert. And we saw a recognizable actor!
Great fresh sushi and sashimi. Great for pre theatre
Great choice in a busy Times Square location. Fresh and delicious sushi. Attentive service. Reasonable prices.
Great food and service. Will be back
Excellent food but very over priced for what it is. 5 dollars for s single piece of sake nigiri is a bit rich.
Delicious food. Great service. Near our theater.
I am a many-time repeat customer of Haru and brought my visiting family for a Christmas celebration. The food and overall experience was excellent, but we were seated in a semi-private room (which I did not request) and found it to be a negative. The room lacked ambiance and decor, had a tv showing soccer, and we felt like we were intruding on the other guests also in this semi private room. We were a party of 6 people and were expecting and would have much preferred being in the main dining room. However, our requests for a change in the heat/air conditioning was accommodated and we were made to feel welcome.
Sushi was not very fresh
Calamari was soggy
Salad was good
Edamame was tasteless
Great experience at Haru! I would recommend!
Over priced - sushi was 70% rice. Would not eat again
