Härth Ratings and Reviews
We came for Mother's Day brunch and definitely enjoyed it. I particularly enjoyed the espresso creme brulee french toast casserole. I have been here a number of times as I work at the Hilton Headquarters next door. Service is always very attentive and friendly and the menu never disappoints. In this case all the food was awesome, but I wish they had included a beef option in addition to the chicken and salmon at the carving station. That would have made a difference in my perception of value.
Business lunch for six. Great table setting - chairs were set high and very comfortable. Great menu. Homemade pastrami got raves at our table. Turkey sandwich was nice, though bread could have been better. Fantastic flatbread options. Two words - bacon jam. The best. I would have taken jars home if they offered. Solid service, but waited on drink refill request. Recommended!
We chose this restaurant for ratings of low noise and good food. While the food was ok, tHe noise level was incredible. Our party of three was unable to carry on a conversation--at lunch time with half the tables empty and no one at the bar. Also, strangely, all the staff used plural pronouns when talking to us, for example: do we have a reservation today? Are we enjoying our meal? Very disconcerting. The restaurant description led us to think the food would be special, but it was standard hotel food. Would have been fine if we were at a meeting.
This is the restaurant inside the McLean Hilton Hotel. The food is always good but always overpriced. We recently ordered their kale and brussel sprout salad for lunch. If you wanted grilled fish or shrimp on top, they charged an extra $12. $12 for a small (3" x 4 ") piece of fish? That seemed outrageous to me. Their breakfast buffet is decent, too, (not fantastic) but again overpriced ($24). Maybe they are appealing to a captive audience of guests at the Hilton. Even so, I felt gouged.
The service was fine and the hostess, Susan, was lovely. It's just not a good value.
Valentine's Day ruined. Let me start by saying we have been a fan of Harth. It's close to our home, the food is good, and they have a winner cocktail selection. Unfortunately, that changed this week. Let's start with the "robo-dialing" to confirm the reservation. I received a call and returned it a day later confirming our reservation. Three days later I was call 5 times consecutively. I answered twice with no one on the other end, how I know they used a auto dialer.
When we arrived, the hosts at the front were distracted, and generally unenthusiastic, including the Manager. Service was lacking from start to finish. They seemed overwhelmed by the night. From their robo-dialing efforts they should have known exactly how large the crowd was going to be and have been better prepared. We had our teenage son with us and where hoping to have a quick dinner then home for homework. It's the reason we picked this location. Our dinner took 2 hrs, and 2 out of the 3 entrees where flatbread pizza. When we asked our waiter to check on it, he said he would but then never returned. Finally, the manager brought out our entrees and offer no apologies for the delay, just an excuse that they were "really busy."
We choose the flatbread pizzas because there was so few options. When I called to confirm the reservation, I asked if they had a special VD menu and their regular menu, which they confirmed. The problem was that in order to sell the VD special (oysters and lobster) they thinned out their regular menu to offer only a seaford (scallops), two meats (Pork & Chicken) and a vegetarian entree. I, for one, wanted fish. My flatbread pizza came out so burnt that was inedible, which was removed from our bill. They were "out" of my wife's favorite cocktail, which I'm still trying to figure how that's possible given the huge bar in the lobby. As my wife said later, the total experience ruined one of our favorite holidays. We need Harth to be better...it was a "go to" for us.
Härth was the perfect setting for a Saturday night girls date. I wanted something relaxing, so easy parking, no waiting, calm/quiet atmosphere and good food. We got it all, even at 7:45 on a Saturday night! The decor is cozy with the multiple gas and glass fireplaces glowing around the room (lucky diners get to sit with their backs to one in a booth). The waiters were sophisticated, professional and attentive. The place was only half full so there was no pressure to eat quickly and leave. We worked our way slowly through the menu, with appetizers, salads, a shared main course and some dessert. Amazingly, even with entrees running $20-30, we only spent $90 for two of us (we didn't drink). The beautiful lobby of the Hilton is an added bonus if you want to hang out longer after your meal. Definitely a gem for a cozy, quiet dinner, especially on weekend nights.
Why are some of the ratings what they have been? Based on those ratings I was excited to go to this restaurant. Yes, it is in a hotel, but some really good restaurants are in hotels. Not this one. It was overpriced, the wine was incredibly marked up, the waiter did not tell of us specials although he was directly asked, the meat was fatty and hidden in sauce, and ultimately, although we had told the waiter we wanted a few minutes just to talk, he just kept coming back. So--food--bad, service--bad, ambiance--bad, atmosphere--bad hotel restaurant in the lobby. Your choice to go there--bad. There are enough other choices, take the other road more followed and pick another restaurant. Unless you are one of the other people who go with a crowd or have no car or other choices.
This is one of the best restaurants in Northern Virginia, relatively unknown because it's in a hotel lobby in McLean. The food is always wonderful: I have dined at Harth dozens of times and always been impressed. The restaurant is stunning, the staff is well trained and very gracious, the menu changes according to seasons and the bees raised on the roof produce honey used in amazing signature bacon jam. The menu is relatively small but every dish is executed beautifully with fresh locally- sourced ingredients.
Varied and interesting menu. We made a meal of several different appetizers and dessert and really enjoyed ourselves. The pork belly app as well as the duck confit and butternut squash flatbread were especially good. Bacon jam served with the bread basket was addictive. Our server Maria was top notch - great recommendations and perfect service.
We have been eating at Harth more often lately, as the noise level is moderate, the atmosphere is relaxed yet attractive, youcankeep the price reasonable, and the service is attentive for the most part. There is a bar in the lobby as well. They seem to be trying hard with the menu to offer tasty, seasonal, and interesting food. It is a very good alternative to the noisier more crowded options in Tysons one and two.
First time to Harth! What a wonderful experience. Restaurant associated with hotels are not always my favorites, but this one acts like a destination spot. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Creative menu without being pretentious.
Excellent service, very nice modern atmosphere. And they know how to really make cappuccino! Kudos just for that.
Would definitely recommend. Bringing my husband there as soon as we can.
Haarth, located inside the Tysons' Hilton, offers good drinks, which are also creative--I liked the White Cranberry Martini and their version of a Cosmo. Their food is good; just not memorable. We tried several appetizers and a flat bread. All were fine, just not distinct. For a local diner, there's truly nothing to draw you in here. For a hotel guest, the food is great and I would order from here if I were staying on site. But if you have a car, there are so many other amazing options close by that Haarth would be low on my list to visit again.
Came for an earlyish dinner. We were staying at the Hilton hotel, and they gave us coupons for appetizers/small bites at the restaurant. Turns there are only two flatbread appetizers you can choose from. But ok, moving on... My husband ordered the $36 filet for his main. It was a tender cut of meat but had absolutely no flavor at all. The dullest filet we had tasted. I had the duck breast. Quite good, but not generous portions given the price. We will pass next time.
