Hart House Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We wanted a nice dinner for a celebration and Hart House did not disappoint. We had the seared scallops, and lamb shanks for mains, and lemon tart and chocolate bar for dessert. All were delicious. We both were able to find a wine by the glass that we enjoyed, a red and a rose. Nice mix of local and imported wines on the list.
The restaurant is very nice for the location, reasonably quiet to have a friendly visit with friends, good food, good service. They might want to make a deal with the day care next door to use some of their parking spots on busy days - like the Christmas season - it was fairly empty.
We had a birthday brunch here, and the food was fabulous. Loved the lively, cozy atmosphere, turn of the century feel, impeccable and attentive service, and the efficiency of it all. Next time I would encourage the chef to be a bit more generous with the hollandaise sauce, it's not just for decoration.
If HH is going to offer a Sunday Brunch, they need to consider that families are in the restaurant. This means that there are children and HH should cater a chrildren’s menu. They should always consider serving children first especially if there is some delays in the kitchen. They should not advertise bacon on the menu when all they serve is pork bellies. Music in such a fine dining restaurant should not be loud and should not mimic the Keg or Earl’s restaurants.
Coffee was always cold and not hot enough. Thank you
Hart House sits in the beautiful setting of Deer Lake Park, surrounded by forest and in view of Deer Lake. Our lunch experience was memorable for creative, tasty and generous size portions, enjoyed all the more by warm sunshine pouring in the windows near our table. Service is attentive and professional, the wine list interesting. Bottled sparkling water was poured as part of the meal, warm fresh bread offered, and a delicious chantilly cream filled mini chocolate cup to finish our meal. We ordered the roasted shaved Brussels sprout, grape and hazelnut salad and the express lunch of breaded veal panini with leek and potato soup. Beautiful and tasty touches with each entree. Hart House continues to impress, a perfect experience.
We ordered the clams and mussels and although the Hart House is not a "seafood" restaurant, they were the best clams/mussels we had ever had. The food was exquisite! The atmosphere was wonderful. On a cold rainy night, you are welcomed in the lobby by a warm fireplace.
Hart House is an outstanding restaurant!
Hart House has restored my faith in humanity! My wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary there and the food was too delicious to describe, the service was attentive, engaging, sincere, wonderful! We both loved our meals as well as the beauty inside and out. Thank you Hart House, we certainly won't be waiting for another 10 years before we return, maybe 10 weeks.
Great food, great views. We sat on patio and watched a wedding. Very friendly staff and great service, however staff had too much small talk as this happened every time they checked in with us...they were all very kind, caring and genuine, however a bit TOO friendly with too much small talk that wasn't necessary. That being said it did not ruin our experience.
We were amazed by how lovely the place and how good the staff was. There was a wedding going in but we could see passed them on the lawn to the lake and since we were celebrating our anniversary it wasn't a problem. They had good vegetarian options and we enjoyed their set three course dinner option. We will definitely go back!
We took my sister to celebrate a milestone birthday. Everything was perfect...the hostess, our table and our waitress. My complaint was with my meal. It was very bland and boring. In addition it took way too long to clear dishes and ask about dessert. The restaurant did not appear to be busy so not sure why. Our waitress was very personable, took pictures for us...very good. Overall I was disappointed a day don't plan to return. Sorry...I hate giving negative feedback...but you asked.
Our only disappointment was our dinner. Portions we extremely small and the opposite can be said of the prices. Last year we went there and celebrated our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the food and service.
Perhaps the chef has changed because the meals ended up being a big disappointment.
Our waiter was excellent and the service provided was also very good.
However we won't be returning to the Hart House
Celebrating anniversaries with a group of us. Food was amazing as always. We all tried each others dishes and were impressed with every taste and texture. Service was good. The server was prompt and polite. Our only complaint would be that they were playing around with the A/C that evening and during our meal the room go very warm as it was a hot day. We spoke to the manager and he apologized, told us about the A/C and offered to move us to the patio where it was cooler. We took him up on that and we were much more comfortable outside.
Great location and very friendly service staff.
Unfortunately, the prices charged are outrageously high for what you get, which may explain why the restaurant was pretty much empty on a Saturday night.
With a fabulous location and great service staff, I hope the owners will take the time to rethink the menu and offer a much better selection of quality food at reasonable prices.
