The lamb was good --the salad unimpressive for the price --wine a little pricey for the quality I bought the 20 $ glass of french wine that was lack luster at best. Otherwise nice spot not sure that I would go again.

If HH is going to offer a Sunday Brunch, they need to consider that families are in the restaurant. This means that there are children and HH should cater a chrildren’s menu. They should always consider serving children first especially if there is some delays in the kitchen. They should not advertise bacon on the menu when all they serve is pork bellies. Music in such a fine dining restaurant should not be loud and should not mimic the Keg or Earl’s restaurants.
Coffee was always cold and not hot enough. Thank you

A beautiful setting by Deer Lake. The menu was excellent, the service was superb. It was quiet enough to enjoy dinner conversation and we never felt rushed. I would dine there again.

Hart House sits in the beautiful setting of Deer Lake Park, surrounded by forest and in view of Deer Lake. Our lunch experience was memorable for creative, tasty and generous size portions, enjoyed all the more by warm sunshine pouring in the windows near our table. Service is attentive and professional, the wine list interesting. Bottled sparkling water was poured as part of the meal, warm fresh bread offered, and a delicious chantilly cream filled mini chocolate cup to finish our meal. We ordered the roasted shaved Brussels sprout, grape and hazelnut salad and the express lunch of breaded veal panini with leek and potato soup. Beautiful and tasty touches with each entree. Hart House continues to impress, a perfect experience.

We ordered the clams and mussels and although the Hart House is not a "seafood" restaurant, they were the best clams/mussels we had ever had. The food was exquisite! The atmosphere was wonderful. On a cold rainy night, you are welcomed in the lobby by a warm fireplace.
Hart House is an outstanding restaurant!

The waiter (Iain) was especially attentive and informative (about Scotch, among other things). The setting of the old house is warm and inviting, even on a chilly fall evening.

We really like this restaurant. We had really good salad and soup. My entre dish of crab pasta was really good, not too creamy, and the desserts we REALLY good. They also make great cocktails.

Hart House has restored my faith in humanity! My wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary there and the food was too delicious to describe, the service was attentive, engaging, sincere, wonderful! We both loved our meals as well as the beauty inside and out. Thank you Hart House, we certainly won't be waiting for another 10 years before we return, maybe 10 weeks.

Great food, great views. We sat on patio and watched a wedding. Very friendly staff and great service, however staff had too much small talk as this happened every time they checked in with us...they were all very kind, caring and genuine, however a bit TOO friendly with too much small talk that wasn't necessary. That being said it did not ruin our experience.

We were amazed by how lovely the place and how good the staff was. There was a wedding going in but we could see passed them on the lawn to the lake and since we were celebrating our anniversary it wasn't a problem. They had good vegetarian options and we enjoyed their set three course dinner option. We will definitely go back!

We took my sister to celebrate a milestone birthday. Everything was perfect...the hostess, our table and our waitress. My complaint was with my meal. It was very bland and boring. In addition it took way too long to clear dishes and ask about dessert. The restaurant did not appear to be busy so not sure why. Our waitress was very personable, took pictures for us...very good. Overall I was disappointed a day don't plan to return. Sorry...I hate giving negative feedback...but you asked.

Our only disappointment was our dinner. Portions we extremely small and the opposite can be said of the prices. Last year we went there and celebrated our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the food and service.
Perhaps the chef has changed because the meals ended up being a big disappointment.
Our waiter was excellent and the service provided was also very good.
However we won't be returning to the Hart House

Celebrating anniversaries with a group of us. Food was amazing as always. We all tried each others dishes and were impressed with every taste and texture. Service was good. The server was prompt and polite. Our only complaint would be that they were playing around with the A/C that evening and during our meal the room go very warm as it was a hot day. We spoke to the manager and he apologized, told us about the A/C and offered to move us to the patio where it was cooler. We took him up on that and we were much more comfortable outside.

Great location and very friendly service staff.

Unfortunately, the prices charged are outrageously high for what you get, which may explain why the restaurant was pretty much empty on a Saturday night.

With a fabulous location and great service staff, I hope the owners will take the time to rethink the menu and offer a much better selection of quality food at reasonable prices.

(Sunday evening) was quiet, apart from the wedding taking place outdoors. We were offered several locations, and shown to the most appropriate table (in an otherwise empty room). The patio would have been our first choice if not for the wedding.
Our waiter was pleasant, informative, discreet and attentive. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, and made recommendations when requested.
The courses arrived with perfect timing, and the staff was obviously judging just when to present them. I don't know if it could be that good when the restaurant is busier, but I hope to find out.
The food was outstanding, interesting and very well presented. The waiter gave just enough information on unusual items to be helpful.
My only criticism is that the person I presumed to be the headwaiter/host was not quite on the ball, especially considering how few people he had to deal with. Oh, and there seemed to be no concept of an aperitif, apart from sweet cocktails. Not a dry sherry in the house.

This review is a strange one. Everything was ok to good until we received the bill...was overcharged. Pointed it out and waitress could have cared less. I pressed so she went to change it...was overcharged AGAIN. Asked for manager ...no joy...asked for GM arrived slowly.
Would never grace this level of lack of interest forget concern for their customers again.

As you can guess we were at lunch today. As most of you, we go out to eat for a fun time not a trash experience.

We had a reservation but then had to wait 15 minutes at the front before even being seated, despite it being empty inside. Our server took at least 10 minutes to take our drink order, then it took another 10 minutes to receive our drinks.

The food was fantastic and the views were wonderful but I will not return. For the prices we paid, we would prefer to go to another high end restaurant instead.

Hart House is a great restaurant for any occasion; set in the middle of a park on Burnaby's Deer Lake, the location is heavily used for weddings and large family dinners. Most large events are located in covered facilities on the extensive lawns descending to the lake shore. The restaurant and patio can be a bit slow when the kitchen is busy with large outside groups. But one should not go to Hart House for a quick meal so the measured pace is something to savor along with the food. For the odd time the parking lot is full one can park nearby at the Burnaby Heritage Museum.

Very DISAPPOINTED. Food portion is so small and I had the lamb and have never tasted
lamb so tasteless. My friends had the chicken and it was slightly better and my wife had
Risotto and very disappointed also.
Price wise is too expansive for such a SMALL portion. We all have to stuff ourselves with
bread and we had 3 orders of the bread.
We ended up at Pizza Hut after that. At least have more vegetables on the plate instead of
just 3-4 small pieces of carrots. We are not really big eaters and would have been contented
if portion is a bit bigger.
We went to Country Meadow at Richmond on Sunday and half the price and steak was done
perfect and atmosphere is beautiful as well as nicely well kept.
What can we say....very disappointed indeed.
Will never recommend friends at all.
