    Our server was attentive and great. The maitre d’ was super. The chocolate ganache was really good and the prawn and lobster roll was amazingly great

    A lovely experience! Beautiful location, friendly professional service, excellent food. Our entrees,  Prawn and Avocado salad and Burrata & Heirloom Tomato Panzanella were delicious, perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. Great way to spend a sunny afternoon!

    Nestled within the serene grounds of Deer Lake Park, Hart House Restaurant offers more than just a meal—it’s a charming escape. On a sunny day, we were lucky to be seated in the window area, right by the entrance to the lawn. Bathed in natural light and caressed by a gentle breeze, the spot had a lovely half-indoor, half-outdoor vibe that made for a very comfortable and relaxed lunch setting. We started with the Baguette & Butter, which was warm and garlicky—simple yet absolutely moreish. The Mussels & Clams, cooked with herbs, were very fresh and delicious. The broth was flavourful, though the accompanying grilled focaccia was slightly over-charred. For mains, the Seared Steelhead stood out with its perfectly crispy exterior and tender centre. The colourful medley of mixed vegetables added both freshness and visual appeal to the dish. The 15 oz AAA Aged Ribeye Steak, served with mushroom and port jus, was cooked to a juicy medium. The aging gave it great depth of beefy flavour, and at CA$59, it was a solid value for the size and quality. Desserts didn’t disappoint either. The Chocolate Ganache was a standout—a silky smooth mousse contrasted beautifully by toasted, candied whole hazelnuts. Truly indulgent. The Cheesecake was nicely done as well—light and satisfying. Service was warm and attentive throughout. After lunch, we took a walk around the grounds and explored the heritage building—built in 1912! It added a historical charm to an already enjoyable afternoon. Overall, a delightful experience in a heritage setting!

    We decided to go for Happy Hour we had a nice meal outside. It was nice and quiet good music playing in the patio area.

    question I booked on Open Table and took a 5:30 slot (which was fine) but the next available was 8PM...way too late Yet when we were seated on the patio there were many empty tables and even at 7PM they were not filled Thanks...would love to know why

    Dear June, First, thank you so much for the 5-star rating — we truly appreciate your support! Regarding your question about availability: we understand how it may have seemed puzzling to see empty tables on the patio while OpenTable showed limited reservation times. The reason for that is that we don’t accept reservations specifically for our patio. Instead, OpenTable allocates a set number of reservations based on our indoor seating only. On the day of your visit, while the patio may not have had many takers, our indoor dining areas were quite busy from around 6:30 PM onward. Given that our restaurant has several distinct sections, it might not appear as full at first glance, but we were in fact busy that night. we hope to welcome you back again soon. Regards, Erkan

    I had a wonderful experience at Hart House Restaurant! The patio seating is absolutely perfect for a beautiful sunny day—surrounded by nature, it offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that made our meal even more enjoyable. The service was excellent—our server was incredibly attentive, kind, and made us feel very welcome. The food was good and beautifully presented. A lovely spot for a special meal or a relaxing afternoon. Highly recommend!
