Great food and service and ambience... food did come out a little slow but worth it
Every thing great but noise at larger tables
The manager is very hands on, the waiter was very friendly, and the food was good.
Excellent customer service and delicious food
Service 2nd to none! Awesome all around!
Great restaurant and great atmosphere. The food was exceptional and the service was top notch.
As always, this glorious restaurant pleases. The friend I brought, had never been there before and she was more than thrilled with the whole experience.
Amazing meal! We went early on a Friday night and it was nice and quiet. Service was excellent, food was amazing. We will be going back!
Great place, deliciuse food and good service. It's such nice treat to be in a place where people can talk and hear each other...
Such a lovely place to go. Deffintly highly recommend.
The service and the food were all as expected. The atmosphere is such that the rooms are quiet so no one has to shout to be heard. A pleasant place to dine.
We we're celebrating my wife's entry Hood to becoming a civilian, she's formerly military. So this was going to be something we have both never done before. And without a doubt it was incredible! An amazing experience, and our server was beyond amazing. I have absolutely nothing negative about the place, or service. My only issue comes from the price. For what we had, it seemed... Steep. And I mean very steep. We decided on the shared meal. Which means we have the choice of a salad or something pork thing, then the main was one steak with some potatoes and mushrooms. And the desert was a small chocolate and vanilla cake. All that for 104 dollars. Now I don't know much about steak, but that was not a 100 dollar steak. I say 100 dollar steak because the rest of the meal was vegetables. It all tasted really good, but easily should not have been over 30 - 40 dollars a person. The next thing is their drink menu, the least expensive drink was 12 dollars. Maybe 11, and with how much you're paying for food already, I don't know. Seems a tad high. After water and tea was all added up. We had spent over 180 dollars. And we went home and ate more, because neither of us were even close to full. Now if this was a tasting menu, fine. I understand that you may leave hungry still, you're not there to eat a full plate, you're there to taste good food, and the food was without a doubt good. Just for what it cost, I found it a bit much. Would I recommend this place to friends? Yes, without a doubt. But I will also be telling them that if you get anything other than a burger, it's a 200 dollar meal. But hey, the service was beyond amazing, and she had an insanely good sense of humour when I asked for my stek fully cooked.( Even though it came medium rare)
Staff are great - they remember regular customers! I always feel welcome.
The food was beyond amazing, the dishes were made with love and you can taste it. My family and I spend over 3 hours there and loved every second. Waiter was kind and helpful! It was truly a memorable experience.
My wife and I had a late valentines dinner here and loved it!
Don’t think menu is as good as it use to be partner disappointed with menu
Enjoyed meal from beginning to end, we had the oysters for appy, tenderloin and burger for main. Excellent
This is a gem - beautiful tudor-style mansion on a lake with white table cloths and proper settings that is rare to find in Vancouver anymore. The atmosphere is rare to find at the same menu pricing as most restaurants. With views over the sprawling lawn and Deer Lake, the experience is hard to beat.
Try Sunday brunch --- lovely! Or sitting out on the patio in the sunshine - outstanding!
Quite disappointed in the Valentines Day set menu we had last night. I went with my wife and although the service and setting were at least worth 4 stars the food was only worth 2 stars. Hence my 3 star rating. Nothing really stood out as great food. When I pay $88.00 per person I expect GREAT food. Nothing was bad (sandy scallops might be the exception - but were cooked perfectly). The appetizers were kind of boring (the cornmeal "pancake" and arctic char combination was truly tasteless) . The oysters three ways were pretty decent (the cucumber oyster was boring). The shared truffle risotto plate was ok but nothing special, the flavour was dominated by the Parmesan, the smoked carrots got completely lost -(very oddly served too as a communal share plate with two small bread plates given to each person but no spoon to serve - we scooped it up with our forks). The beef dish was good (very small portions and no side) and the scallops were good save the beach hardware mentioned above (loved the little cauliflower breaded bites though),. The cheesecake and chocolate tart were very yummy and done well - definitely the high-point of the night.
While the restaurant itself is quite cute and clean, the service and food fall flat on its face in all regards. May be worth it if this was priced perhaps $30 cheaper per person. Considering this is not the case, I will review the restaurant at the price point they prescribed @ $185 before tip for two people. I will be only noting the notable dishes in this review. Anything not mentioned would be defined as average.
This price range and course descriptions suggests they are fine dining, they are anything but. Starting with service, it was lack luster throughout the meal with no dish descriptions, overly casual, not taking away dishes.
The table bread they serve tastes terrible, and served with hard cold butter... One of the first times in my life I didn't even manage to eat a single slice. Also the server never took away the bread that we were clearly not eating the entire meal.
Truffle risotto was more like carrot risotto. Truffles shaved rather than infused, but low quality truffles make it nearly undetectable. The truffles were further masked by the slightly under cooked carrots that made the dish too sweet and carrot like. Their first attempt was under seasoned and it was sent back. They tried again but now overly salty, but it was much improved. Very strange they decided that this would be a dish that came shared... This is extremely unusual for fine dining, and especially a savory dish. Maybe its a play on valentines day, but that presentation seemed more lazy than romantic.
Beef dish was very small (one tiny slice of beef), all the sides were basically untouched because they didn't really do anything for the palette.
Scallops were cooked nicely, but overly salted on top. Was biting through chunks of salt on the 4 scallops they served for the entree.
Desserts were a complete failure. Cheesecake had an awful taste, chocolate tart was too hard and too much caramel.
Just don't go. You can go to Hawksworth for similar cost.
Great restaurant in an old mansion with beautiful view over Deer Lake and Burnaby
Dined at Hart house for lunch on Valentine's day
Food was outstanding
Presentation and taste were top notch
Service was courteous
The heritage building is elegant and is actually quite spacious inside
Will come again
Excellent dining experience in a beautiful heritage building!
Great food and fabulous old European feel. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Absolutely love this place. We went here as a small group for a birthday celebration. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere of the place is beautiful. Would come again!
The food was delicious! I would definitely come back for any special occasion.
This restaurant in a heritage home is an experience of its own. Someone greeting you at the door and checking your coat. Your glass never runs dry. The food was creative and delicious. The descriptions don’t do it justice. They don’t look like large portions but I was full at the end of my 3 courses from dine out Vancouver.
Everything seems fine except the gentleman brought us to the table pull chair out for me but didn’t push it back in behind me ... I have to pull the chair in by myself ...
I loved the comfortable atmosphere and the service was friendly and considerate. Great food. We went as a group of friends and it was not too loud so we were able to have a conversation. Loved our experience!
This is a nice place for a more fine dining experience. Service was attentive and polite and food portions were just right.
Left quite satisfied.
Highly recommended, I am and always will be, a return customer. Cozy atmosphere, intimate dinning and very attentive staff make this a complete experience.
WE camde to celebrate our wedding anniversary, as we have done for several years. The food and the service were as good as they always have been.
I haven't been to your restaurant in over a year and I recommended it to friends. The service was not very good. My friends wine was filled with sediment and when the waiter came over and it was pointed out he dismissed her by saying all good wine has it. Then he said he would bring her a little bit more. She declined and he brought it anyway. She declined again and then he put it on the table and said well one of you can drink it. The appetizers and main courses were all good but the portions on the desert was pitiful. Sadly, I will no longer be recommending your establishment.
I run by Hart house often. I love the area and the character home. Great place for special occasions!
The main was a bit on the salty end. but the ambiance and service was exquisite
the food was excellent! compliments to the chefs. though should update the washrooms. other than that the staff were freindly and accomodating.
A nice retro luxurious mansion with wonderful view of the woods and lake. Yet the food is below average.
We went to the Hart House for my wife’s birthday. Service was ok but they were super busy with the dine-out crowd. There was temperature issues with one appetizer, but the staff worked very hard to sort it out. Overall it was a good service.
I’ve always passed by the Hart House when I am around the Deer Lake Park, finally had the chance to dine in this place. Wow, the food is amazing! The portion is perfect filling, and the wine matching is just excellent.
Thank you to the staff who served us tonight!
Amazing Dine Out Menu. Phenomenal flavours. Well worth exploring and set in a beautiful heritage building. Very friendly staff
