Harry's Seafood Grill Ratings and Reviews
We were thrilled when we arrived as first-time guests to this restaurant. It was beautiful, scenic and we were seated outside right by the water--wonderful! As it was my birthday dinner, I went for the big entree, the Lobster Cioppino, $37. My husband got cod. When they arrived, the entrees looked beautiful. But the first bite of the "cioppino" told me I had made a mistake. Despite huge shrimp, lobster and a few mussels, the broth was tasteless. It was as though the chef threw the seafood into some tomato water and nothing else. My husband HATES to return food so I didn't return it or say anything about it to him or the waiter. When he tasted the broth near the end of the meal, he knew. Then he felt bad he'd taken me there.
Returned to Harry's Seafood after having an AMAZING experience with food & service during our first visit some months ago. I guess when the bar is set that high, expectations are possibly too high. This visit was a bit less extraordinary, but very nice. Most importantly, the food was again excellent, but definitely better during our first visit. A seafood restaurant that's out of lemons was a bit of a bummer. Our reservations were made over a week in advance for a very special occassion. It was nice to sit outside, but not so great to stare at the parking lot. Server was polite, but seemed to be running on 2 hours sleep... no suggestions regarding the menu and he spoke so slowly I thought he was going to fall over. We'll definitely go back!
My tuna dish was one of the best I have ever had. The calamari was so tender! Everyone else at the table said their fish was delicious. Most importantly, our waiter, John, was the best waiter we have had in a very long time. He was so professional- from taking the food order from the ladies first, to serving us without asking who had what! Our water glasses were filled without asking. His attitude and service was impeccable! And I am very very picky about good service! All the service people at Harrys should take a lesson from him!
It was difficult to get a drink from the bar if you did not have a seat.
I felt the food was below average. Nothing stood out and most of it we didn't finish. We started with oysters and clam chowder which were good. Next were the drunken clams - found them a little dry which is surprising since they are in sauce. The Poke was inedible and my husbands fish dish was also a disappointment. For the money I didn't think the food was near what it should have been.
Great dinner. The Black Bass in coconut/mango sauce and the filet w/ scallops were excellent. The add-on spinach salad was very good. The butter was too cold to spread but the bread was good. The apple crisp dessert would have been better if the apples were chopped into smaller pieces and in the same bowl as the vanilla gelato.
Our waitress was not the friendliest person but got the job done.
Harry's almost unfailingly serves great seafood that is well-prepared and beautifully presented. My only minor criticism of our most recent meal at Harry's is that the lightly battered soft-shell crabs (which are usually fabulous) had absorbed a bit too much oil while cooking and tasted a tad bit off, as if the oil used for deep-frying them hadn't been changed in a while. We went late in the day on Mothers' Day, so it might have been attributable to a long and unusually busy day for the restaurant. My family and I love Harry's, though, and have never had any complaints before, so I'm sure we'll be back for more wonderful seafood!
All Parties Pleased
Everyone at our Mother's Day dinner was thrilled with their meal. The wine was crisp and light; the oysters and seafood dishes were fresh, and the side dishes were great. Our waiter was informative and attentive. It made the day special in a good way.
the menu had a very good selection of apps and entrees which were creative and exciting to see. The service was top notch and attentive, especially on a Saturday evening. The meal arrived in appropriate timing and my experience was fantastic! I will highly recommend this restaurant to others.
This is the third time we have eaten at Harry's Seafood Grill, and it has never disappointed! There are so many highlights - and no low-lights! We each had different fish and enjoyed them all. Black Grouper, Tuna, Cod, and Salmon - all were excellent. Service was great, wine list was pretty good without being pretentious, and the appetizers were just right. I highly recommend the fried oysters with sweet Thai chili sauce.
Fish was good but the fries were very soggy. Not up to McDonald's standards. Sliders were good but the fries were not eaten because they were cold and soggy. On a previous visit (a Monday night dinner) the lobster roll was the worst that I ever had. The lobster was tough and I assumed that might have been a chef's day off.
Harry's Seafood Grill has been one of our favorites since it opened and it didn't disappoint us this time. I had my first soft shell crabs of the season - they were wonderful! My husband had tuna which he enjoyed very much. The server was attentive without being obtrusive. We enjoy eating on the deck when the weather is appropriate.
It is one of our favorite places to go when we want an excellent meal with good service and a relaxing up beat atmosphere. We find that the price we pay is well worth what we get. We live in Maryland so we tend to come here for our special occasions. Of course sometimes we invent one just so we can come here.
The service was great the waiters ask a lot of questions to make sure they serve you well such as food allergies, vegetarian options, type of wine that you like. And the waiter does not cross over in front of you and approach from an angle that feels least intrusive.
