Harry's Savoy Grill Ratings and Reviews
Good food and drinks. We had a good table until a younger group with 8 came. They had loud conversations. We ask d our waiter to plate 5 salads from 2 large ones and they said they couldn't do that. Have had this done at other restaurants. Bread was great. Desserts so so. Overall we had a fun night.
We eat at Harry's several times a year and we live in a different state. Whenever we have an excuse to go to Delaware and have some time, we try to have dinner at Harry's, especially on Sunday night. Great food, fabulous value, including great wines by the glass reasonably priced.
Extremely crowded and noise bounced off all the walls. Very hard to hear anyone at table without being loud. Service was on the slow side could use to be a little more attentive. We had to track waiter down a few times. For price of food they really need to include a side.
We went for the 30th Anniversary Prime Rib special (because I can't get enough of Harry's Prime Rib). Everything was delicious as usual, great service, awesome atmosphere. I booked the reservation via Open Table and requested a booth in the bar and that's what we got! Great evening!!!
My fiance and I went for their 30th anniversary promotion, where you received a soup/salad, prime rib, and dessert for $30 (excellent deal considering that the prime rib normally is about $27-28). All of the food was excellent. The prime rib lived up to the reputation. The atmosphere, on the other hand, not so much. It was very loud, which may have just been because we were seated next to two large groups. It also felt like they packed in extra tables to accommodate the extra guests from the promotion. My chair was bumped into a number of times, by both guests and waiters. My fiance even joked that it felt like we were dinning with the couple at the table next to us we were that close. Also, the service was a little slow. It took a while to bring the wine out, but then everything seemed timed well from there. We think they delayed the wine since they knew the prime rib would take longer than usual given the number of people at the restaurant. I have only been there this one time so I'm not sure if that was just for the anniversary or not. Either way, the food was outstanding so I would be willing to go back again to see how it is without a special.
Prime rib was prepared perfectly. Caesar salad and clam chowder were both excellent. Creme brulee was the perfect conclusion to the meal. Excellent and responsive service. A great mid week treat. Seated in room not far from the bar, which sometimes was a bit noisy.
We had their 30th anniversary “prix fixe” dinner for our 26th anniversary dinner. Great Food, and we also added two of the excellent sides (which ended up being too much food). Our first choice wine was unavailable, but it was right after Thanksgiving where it was on special. And the recommend 2nd choice was just as fine.
We always enjoy Harry's for a Sunday dinner or a special occasion , but on this visit everything went south right from the start. A screaming baby welcomed us and while the mother did her best to quiet her, it seemed nothing was going to work, so she eventually just let her roam the restaurant following behind and being grateful for the silence. Shortly after being seated, a group of business men (there were seven of them) sat across from our booth had a business meeting during our salads. The last straw was the table of four nearby who thought everything
that was said needed a hearty laugh for the whole restaurant to hear. All in all the food was the usual delicious meal that we have come to expect from Harry's and we just had to chalk it up to a bad experience that was no fault of one of our favorite restaurants. We will return!
They were celebrating the 30th anniversary of the restaurant so we ordered the anniversary special and we were very disappointed with the entree of prime rib and au gratin potatoes. The creme brûlée dessert was bland and did not have much flavor. We will most likely not go back.
What a disappointment! We have dined here on several occasions, and it just gets worse. Not sure what is going on here, but the food was awful, and the service wasn’t much better. Tasteless Caesar salad, bitter, burnt sautéed spinach, and a very mediocre prime rib. Needless to say, we won’t be returning. Going to stick with Harry’s on the Riverfront, where we dine frequently and which we have found to be consistently good.
We had a reservation but were seated a half an hour late, a problem many people seemed to be having that night. The hosting staff was large but in no way skilled (or interested in) making the wait comfortable. Finally we were seated in the bar area where live music made it too loud to hear the waitress, and vice versa. Not what I had expected for the evening.
The food and service was top notch. We will return again when in the Wilmington area.
The noise level was quite high and pretty much required shouting to communicate with my wife. We were given a booth toward the back that was off the main dining room in an attempt to have a quieter area, but it was still very noisy. Bummer.
Overall though, we had good food and our server Mike was excellent and worth making a trip back just for the service.
Our first impression left a little to be desired. We entered from the rear parking lot where the special occasion rooms are located. As it was our first time, it was confusing trying to find the main entrance/reception area winding our way down hallways and through dining rooms and the bar; some signage would be a big help. At the reception area, there were three staff people -one on the phone, one looking at a monitor, and the other one... No one bothered to greet us or ask if we needed help. Finally we were acknowledged after another patron jumped the line and was helped first. Fortunately we can say the rest of the evening went much better - the duck breast and prime rib were cooked perfectly as requested, Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, the bread was excellent, and a pear sorbet was a surprise ending to acknowledge our anniversary. Heather our waitress was very friendly and attentive and provided great service. One final observation, the dining room was rather noisy, not quite the setting for quiet conversation. But our overall experience was good enough that we would return again.
I have reviewed your restaurant on TripAdvisor everything was just outstanding we had a party faint and the whole staff came together each went out of their way to help in the situation I was just the knowledge and Quapah ration of the staff was just outstanding we love Harry’s and will always come back to enjoy a fabulous meals it was so Great that I put you on TripAdvisor please review thanks again for a great hospitality
Simply wonderful. My husband and I were celebrating his birthday. Very romantic and quiet booth -- we loved everything from our friendly, efficient servers to the exceptional food, great wine list, superb ambiance. We loved the oysters (so so fresh), onion soup, lamb chops (a special offering) and of course, prime rib. Love the fresh and local offerings -- the menu changes. This place is a real gem. I would totally recommend.
