Harry's Savoy Grill Ratings and Reviews
This is my second time having a meal at Harry’s and this was for my 1 year anniversary and we really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and our waiter.. the food and service was a 10. It was a little pricey but you get what pay for and I was extremely happy and my fiancée really enjoyed it.
As always, we had a great experience. Food was fresh, local, and delicious. Service was an equally fine experience. The only (minor) issue was that we requested (and they accommodated) a table by the fireplace. However, the bench seat at this table must backup against the door to the kitchen. We experienced constant banging and vibrations throughout the meal. Would like to see them install a floor mounted stop for the door, to shield the diners from this distraction.
The waiter was very nice but we think had a long day looked tired and so he forgot a few things...didnt bring bread wasn't attentive...etc.
The meal was good but the salad wedge was very small especially for the price.
The Creme Brulee was not caramelized on top also lacking .
The booth we sat in had ripped seats on both sides...seriously?
Had much higher hopes
The food was wonderful, as was our server. It was my son's birthday, and he brought him a dish of ice cream with a candle - very thoughtful! The only think I would mention is that we originally seated in the bar area, which we wouldn't have minded at all, except that the musical group was incredibly loud - we couldn't even talk over it. WE had to ask for a table away from the bar. The group was good, but needed to turn down the volume. I don't know how the people seated close to them could stand it. Maybe have some other speakers located around the bar, so they wouldn't have to have it so loud where the group was.
Harry's was great as always, I expect nothing less, only issue I have is I made a reservation and was seated in the bar area right next to the live music, not what I have come to expect. Again, I will always go back, next time I hope to sit in the dining room away from the great live music.
the only disappointment in the dinner was the butternut squash risotto. Not cooked properly, the chunks of squash took away from the dish..could have been pureed I think. I know that risotto takes a long time to cook just right, and this was probably rushed.Mushy consistency. I would suggest to take it off the menu if it isn't properly cooked. The rest of the meal is of excellent quality and preparation. I have high expectations of this restaurant, because the food is better prepared than the average.
I don't know how to describe "meh", but that's all that Harry's is anymore. There's no wow, the menu is a bore. You walk in the door and look into the large wine fridge and you see boxes stored in there. That's your greeting, a place that decides to store boxes with their wine? I believe they were xmas ornaments. Strange, and yet a sign of a lack of attention to detail that carries through to the dining experience that make it, "meh".
There are so many options these days why come to a place to spend $75 or more on dinner for two and hope you get a good meal?
Good food and drinks. We had a good table until a younger group with 8 came. They had loud conversations. We ask d our waiter to plate 5 salads from 2 large ones and they said they couldn't do that. Have had this done at other restaurants. Bread was great. Desserts so so. Overall we had a fun night.
We eat at Harry's several times a year and we live in a different state. Whenever we have an excuse to go to Delaware and have some time, we try to have dinner at Harry's, especially on Sunday night. Great food, fabulous value, including great wines by the glass reasonably priced.
Extremely crowded and noise bounced off all the walls. Very hard to hear anyone at table without being loud. Service was on the slow side could use to be a little more attentive. We had to track waiter down a few times. For price of food they really need to include a side.
We went for the 30th Anniversary Prime Rib special (because I can't get enough of Harry's Prime Rib). Everything was delicious as usual, great service, awesome atmosphere. I booked the reservation via Open Table and requested a booth in the bar and that's what we got! Great evening!!!
My fiance and I went for their 30th anniversary promotion, where you received a soup/salad, prime rib, and dessert for $30 (excellent deal considering that the prime rib normally is about $27-28). All of the food was excellent. The prime rib lived up to the reputation. The atmosphere, on the other hand, not so much. It was very loud, which may have just been because we were seated next to two large groups. It also felt like they packed in extra tables to accommodate the extra guests from the promotion. My chair was bumped into a number of times, by both guests and waiters. My fiance even joked that it felt like we were dinning with the couple at the table next to us we were that close. Also, the service was a little slow. It took a while to bring the wine out, but then everything seemed timed well from there. We think they delayed the wine since they knew the prime rib would take longer than usual given the number of people at the restaurant. I have only been there this one time so I'm not sure if that was just for the anniversary or not. Either way, the food was outstanding so I would be willing to go back again to see how it is without a special.
