Harry's Savoy Grill Ratings and Reviews
I thought the service and ambiance was awesome. Our waiter was very gracious and helped us prepare for a birthday (candles on dessert). It's really an upscale, trendy place with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The food tasted great and looked great too. Regrettably, I was disappointed with two items - 1) the portions of the food are just so large it's difficult to eat all of it - it's just way too much and 2) we were there Feb 16, 2018 and there were no chicken dishes on the menu at all - none. There was salmon, duck (which I am not fond of) and a pork chop (as well as many beef/steak items). I selected the pork chop and while I continued to cut into it, it kept getting less and less cooked until it had a definite pink hue to it - no thanks. My other guests enjoyed themselves, so that's good. I'll call next time to see if they have chicken on the menu - if not, I'll go someplace else.
Large main dining room and very crowded on Valentine's Day - I suspect a few extra small tables were put in place - but the service and food were simply excellent. Despite the crowd, we were seated within 5 min. of our reservation. Brian/Bryan was a busy server but attentive w/o being overly so - lots of personality and a good recommendation on the Girardin Cuvee Saint-Vincent Cotes D'Or (which, commendably, was the normal 1/2-off Harry's offers on Wednesdays, despite this being a holiday). My small Caesar salad was a good size/appetizer, with a tasty dressing that wasn't overpowering, as most are. The little lady ordered the Petite Filet Oscar; I had the 10 oz. Prime Rib, which came with Rosemary Au Gratin potatoes. We are demanding diners. These dishes were spectacularly good, cooked just as ordered. No room for dessert but we finished the wine ;) Best of all, we were not in the least bit rushed despite the demand for tables this night. Splendid.
Harry's has now become the upscale place where we celebrate special events. Food has been excellent every time we've been there. Service is prompt and courteous without seeming like they're trying to rush you through your meal. Meals are pricey, but well worth it.
We received notice of Harry's 30th anniversary Sunday $30 special for a complete meal including clam chowder or Ceasar Salad, Prime Rib and Creme Brulee. All four of our party decided to have that special and everyone thought it perfect. Soups and salads were fresh and tasty and the prime rib was (as almost always at Harry's) just perfect. And some good coffee, dessert and conversation finished off a nice Sunday meal. Service was quick and attentive. We'll probably try it again before this special expires!
The food was delicious and the service was very good. There were two areas that needed improvement: our bread arrived at the same time as the meal. We would have preferred to have some time to chat and enjoy the bread before the entree. Secondly, the noise level was unacceptable. We were in the main dining room and had difficulty hearing during the music coming from the bar.
Disappointed. Booked a table for a double special occasion, and I called the day prior to confirm. No mention of birthday or anniversary. We didn't really get much attention at all from our server, who also didn't seem to know the menu very well. Prime rib was fabulous!! Filet also great. Duck also fine. Tuna appetizer somewhat dry. So food great, service not so much. Also, when we arrived no real greeting from hostess, no offer of hanging costs and when we left we had to search out our costs since no one in duty.
For the expense of the dinner the food was just average. I have been to this location several times over the years but my it was my boyfriend's first time and he was not impressed. I don't think I will be returning with so many other restaurant options out there.
Took my 79 yo mother here for her birthday. Wonderful! Mom and Dad have walkers and when I mentioned to the maître d' who confirmed our reservation, she gave detailed information of the accessible entrance from the ballroom side. A few steps more down a hallway, but super easy and staff was waiting nearby to direct and hold doors. Waiter was awesome. All entrees arrived exactly as ordered including the petit filet Oscar which came deconstructed per mom's request (she doesn't like crab, but dad does :P) Dad had regular prime rib (house special) and I had the grilled rib steak both cooked to perfection. Husband ordered the lobster which was good with a nice sauce but he was a little jealous of our steaks after sampling mine. Sides were good too; green beans (haricot vertes) crisp, horseradish potatoes were nicely (not overly)seasoned with just a hint of spice at the end. Lest I forget the raw bar, Dad and I had delicious clams; the chef added two extra to each order because there were on the small side. And dessert: chocolate lava cake and house made gelato we shared, mmm! 4 stars on the value only because I have trouble reconciling the cost of steak houses overall , but Harry's is more economical than other high end steak restaurants with much, much better quality and attention. Tables were very close and lighting on the dark side but clean and comfortable. Dress for Friday casual. Dad said we can bring them back here anytime and I'm sure we will.
Had a great time. Place was really loud though. 5 out of 6 steaks were good. Had to send 1 back due to over cooked, which was rectified. But, caused that one person to have to watch people eat and wait and then have to eat fast to keep up. No offer to remove from bill. Not expected, but with 600 bill would have been a nice gesture.
We have been here many times and came for my husband’s birthday. They clearly overbooked and, even with a reservation, waited at least 20 minutes to a half hour for our table. We were then seated in the noisy bar area which was packed. We waited at least 20 more minutes to even be acknowledged by our server to see if we wanted a drink. We ordered a bottle of wine and an appetizer. Waited a very long time for wine, and the appetizer never came. We were finally served our meal which was great as the food always is and the waited never even checked on us the rest of the night. Disappointing.
This was my first time dinning at Harry's. Took my wife for our annyversay and we loved it. The reception and waitress know how to treat a custumer, very professional and helpful. The restaurant has a nice calm mood perfect forva date. The menu is excellent. The food was prepared to perfection. Great selection of wines and desserts. I recommend this place to anyone, either for a business dinner, date or family get together. You will be seeing me soon.
I am now retired from the business world and worked in New York all my life - have traveled extensively world wide - Harry's prime rib is the very best I have had including anything Peter Luger's has to offer - actually cut it with a folk and it near melts in your mouth plus great flavor.
I had the 18oz that was well worth the $35 or so.
Was impressed with the experienced waiter staff - they know how to wait a table - ask questions & take their advise.
