Harry's Grille & Tavern Ratings and Reviews
The food was OK, but certainly not anything special. Our waiter was very blase--not personable at all.
We selected Harry's because it was mid-way between our home in Charlotte and our friends' home in Rock Hill, SC. The location was ideal, but I would not recommend Harry's for the food or service. There was nothing "wrong" with it, but it was a lackluster experience.
We had another pleasing experience at Harry's, our fourth dining experience there. The chef, Brett, prepared a wonderfully tasting dinner of Fresh Cut Atlantic Salmon, cooked to perfection. The sides were quite tasty. The presentation was exceptional. They offer a good selection of wine, beer, and spirits. I highly recommend Harry's. If you go once you'll go back again!
Had not dined here in several years; definitely a much better experience this time than what I recall from the past. Presentation of food was great and taste was equal (I had Salmon, potatoes, and asparagus). Service was fantastic and drinks were made to perfection. Absolutely would return and recommend to others.
2nd visit to Harry's. Love the way the restaurant is furnished - quality tables, hometown bar decorations. Bar area is open, with plenty of space to stretch out.
Brunch menu has a little something for everyone. The Burger is fantastic - made with a blend of 3 cuts of meat. The bottom half of the bun can get a bit greasy though. The grits are fantastic. One miss was the tortilla soup - tasted more Mediterranean than Mexican.
Server was attentive but not over-bearing. Cost was as expected for an upscale bar and grille.
A restaurant struggling to find an identity. Seems like they are shooting for high end but fall way short. Wait staff hover, food is mediocre at best. Most of the surrounding establishments are catering to more casual sit down dining experience so Harry's could fill a vacume if they overcome some challenges.
Ambiance - Very nice.
Food taste - poor. My medium rare bacon wrapped rib eye had all the flavor of a super market serloin. Mashed potato and asparagus on the side were plain and tasteless.
My wife ordered a mixed green salad that advertised mixed greens, apples, cranberries, etc in it. It was basically a plate of lettuce with little sign of apple or cranberry. She added blackened chicken breast to it. The chicken was over done and bland.
Food presentation - Plating was nicely done and in line with higher end establishments.
Opportunity to improve
- Not sure if the food is quality issue of their supplier or chefs preparation. Probably a bit of both.
- Wait staff hover and interrupt. Some training could address this minor issue.
From the moment we entered Harry's we were treated like we were royalty. Andrew greeted us and took us to a great table. Anthony was our waiter. He paid attention to us and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. Bryan, the General Manager, introduced himself to us and made us feel important. Brett, one of the cooks, brought our food to the table. It was an extra step of kindness to us. We had such a wonderful evening. Harry's is a gem!
First time customer at Harry's. Made reservations for 5 for business dinner with out of town guests. Nice bar setting. Comfortable booth at dinner with plenty of room for 6 adults. Everyone ordered a different meal and cocktail. Tried the bacon bison meatloaf and enjoyed the flavors coupled with sweet potato fries. Feedback I received from all was positive and they would go back to Harry's again. Glad I located this gem in the Arysley community!
Although the menu was a bit deceiving, the food turned out okay. The one disappointing part was the incredible rush to get us in and out of there on a day that wasn't that busy. Our appetizers were interrupted with salads which were interrupted by our main course. Overall poor timing of serving, but I suppose it would be a great place if you are in a hurry. Don't bother with the drink list unless you know the bartender. I watched my drink get Frangelico instead of bourbon! Talk about a sad day.
All in all, decent food served up quickly, but I won't bother again and would recommend you look elsewhere too.
Harry's is always consistent and spot on, especially when I have clients in town and need to take them to dinner. Everyone I've brought to Harry's have enjoyed the experience, some so much when they come back to town they want to return.
Thanks for the great service, excellent food and great
We've been to Harry's on numerous occasions. This is our go to spot when we have guests from out of town. The food is always good, they have a good a good selection of beers from local breweries and a good wine and drink selection. We have taken a large group there, and they have a nice private room that will accommodate at least 14-16 people. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Great service. Great food. I got the bone-in pork chop, garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables and it was to die for. For dessert the chocolate cake with a layer of vanilla and layer of chocolate mousse and a side whip cream was superb! I definitely recommend this restaurant!!!
While at an evening event off Westinghouse, we stumbled on Harry's. The higher reviews on this site did not come close to matching our experience and would caution those with high expectations to take a second thought on this establishment. We started with the so-called "chef's cheese board" - which came on a plate, btw - and was the single worst cheese board we have ever had. No meats. The gouda was just the rind and the "spicy" cheese as it was described was essentially mustard cheese and will turn off anyone from ever eating mustard ever again. It came on a bed of wilting lettuce and every time you took some cheese it can stuck to some wilty greens. The nuts came swimming in honey - wet and sticky - as did the grapes. Just slopped together. Yuck. The burger I had was basic and nothing remarkable - 2 sad strips of bacon that looked so thin it appeared they were halves. My wife had the broiled salmon and it was cold in the middle. If the dinner was worth saving we would have sent back but it wasn't so we just moved it to the side. Speaking of sides, the mashed potatoes were plain, unseasoned and had the texture of the instant potatoes I lived on when I was in college. We wanted to order the risotto and the polenta cakes for sides but the waiter said they were not popular and bad. I can't imagine they could have been worse than the other sides we ordered but I guess our meal could have been worse (?!?) The best 2 things of the dinner: (1) remembering my college days based on bad potatoes and (2) the brussell sprouts were pretty good. Oh, another good thing? We eliminated a place off the rotation of eateries to attend in CLT. Disappointing...
