About Harry's Cafe and Steak
With its large oval booths and rich bronze leather banquets, copper ceiling with walnut trim and particular lighting, the main dining room at Harry's Café & Steak caters to both Wall Streeters as well as residents of the burgeoning Financial district neighborhood. Patrons will immediately be drawn to the 47 foot bar, covered in solid, rich American Black Walnut. Gone are the six free telephones, stock ticker and munifacts machines that once graced the bar area of the original, replaced by a professional sound system and separate bar seating designed to create a distinct lounge area where guests can enjoy great cocktails as well as food. Our separate wine cellar dining room evokes memories of the original restaurant in a more intimate setting. The 70 seat wine cellar has its own entrance located on Pearl Street but is also accessible from the main dining room.

Harry's Cafe and Steak Ratings and Reviews
The service was lacking. Slow. Unorganized. And we felt rushed even though they weren’t full. The steak was very good. For the price I’d expect a better service though the waiter did try to redeem himself by having one desert on the house. We liked the ambiance but we won’t be going back there
Everything is usually good and I do like the place. Food is solid....The pricing gets a lil crazy - even for a NY steakhouse. However, I go there often and the food and service are solid. One thing that I truly dislike - it just gets so loud in the dining room. I can barely hear what people are saying to me. I am early 40's and not old by any means ...and the ears still work fine ( unless my wife is talking to me - haha) I think it's just an old location and how it's built. It is really really loud.
Have been going to Harry’s for many years. Once in a while we draw this waiter who rushes the hell out of you and it’s super annoying. You spend $300 on a lunch and I️ don’t want to be rushed to order nor do I️ need to be asked three times if you can take my plate when I’m
Obviously not finished with my meal. It only happens with this particular server. From now on I️ will
Just make sure I️ don’t let him serve me
First time after walking by many times. Went for dinner on a Saturday evening when Harry's has live music - jazz and popular on the light side - perfect for dining enjoyment. Not too loud for conversation. Enjoyed the band and their vocalist very much. Would definitely go back to hear them; but also like hearing different performers. Although I was expecting standard American steak house fare, there were also delicious and unique items as well. The white bean soup and the lamb curry stew were great. And the Cajun ribeye was fabulous. Service was impeccably professional, attentive and friendly. Harry's is now on my favorites list.
It was the first time dining at Harry's. Online, the menu listed a Kobe burger. Unfortunately for me, they no longer offer the Kobe burger. However, the sirloin burger on a English muffin was excellent and also the steak sandwich was very good. The entertainment added a special touch and was not overpowering. Had a great time.
Harry’s has changed. Have been coming here for years and it has slowly lost its old world excellence feel. Still nice though. For the first time ever we got a tough Filet Mignon. It was replaced with an excellent cut. Newish to Harrys is the peppercorn sauce : it is truely awful...like a bad packet gravy made with too little water. Thick and ugh. Hard to believe Harry would ok this.
Fish choices have been reduced sadly. Harry was still in the corner and service is still great.
We came at 6 and a bunch of tables were empty- but the host still gave us hard time when we requested a booth saying they were all reserved. We had a reservation too! Plus with 2 kids, we would be in and out in 1hr- by 7pm. It took me a while to convince her, and that shouldn’t be he case at 6pm with half empty restaurant
We ate at this very old established restaurant after a long day of site-seeing. We had the filet with whipped potato and macaroni. The Harry’s house salad was excellent. Our reservation was at 6:15 on a Friday. It was not crowded at all. Overall the service was good but could have been better since we were virtually alone in the restaurant. I highly recommend if you want a great steak!!
Harrys Cafe & Steakhouse has one of the best steak sandwiches I have ever had in my 27 years of life. My friends have been asking me to try it since I live so close to the restaurant, and I finally took their advice and visited earlier this week with a visiting friend.
This restaurant is also a staple location for people who work on Wall St. Many movies that are based of individuals working on Wall St always reference this location, i.e. Wall St with Gordon Gekko or Patrick Bateman from American Psycho).
It was simply a pleasure to dine here. The restaurant has an amazing feeling to it, along with an amazing wine list.
Overall an amazing experience. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again in the near future.
This may have been a bad night for Harry! The food was good all around and the service was excellence through our appetizers. Then all went downhill! Our entrees took over 30 minutes to arrive after we finished our Harry's Salad - (excellent) and raw clams (very good). We could not find any wait staff to even ask why. When the waiter strolled by, he seemed unfazed by the fact that I was a little perturbed by the wait and answered only "it's in process". Throughout the balance of the meal, we were still unable to find wait staff for anything! At the end of the meal, they delivered two deserts instead of the one we had ordered. After a wait, I found the waiter informed him of the error and he stated "oh the second desert is on us due to your wait". Hmm, nice of you to tell us?????. After the meal was completed, I waited and then asked a bus boy if he could help us to get the check. It then arrived and I noticed that I was charged for 3 drinks ($16 each) instead of the two that I had. After searching for the waiter, I again found him, showed him the error and he left. He returned and said that he had credited two drinks instead of one to say that he was sorry. In summary, food was good, service was abysmal, resolutions were attempted, and finally, watch your check carefully. Maybe it was just a bad night for Harry.
The food was good. I had the lobster spring roll and then the aged ny strip. Could have been more lobster in the spring roll but the steak was great. Place is dark. I needed my phone light to read the menu. Couldn't really see your food either which takes a sense away. But overall a nice meal.
A Wall Street area institution. I've been here for both Saturday brunches (cool, fun atmosphere with Champs flowing and loud dancey pop music) and on weekdays for sophisticated business lunches. Great food and service. Was recently seated in one of the cozier back rooms with fab murals , carpeting (quieter) and comfy booths. Good coffee too and dessert.
I love going to brunch at Harry's. The menu options are all terrific - my favorites are the salmon scramble and the two-handed BLT (which is huge). The champagne brunch is the best in the city. The staff are friendly and courteous, and will never leave you with an empty glass!
In the Financial District there are very few options with late seating. Yet we were able to get a great table at 11:00PM with full menu available. Great versatile menu with lots of options. Great service and very warm interior. Nice 60-70's R&B background music. We will return.
Harry's has gone downhill. Had to ask for wine list, waiter mixed up our order and blamed the runners. Ate about 1/4 of our steaks then realized they messed up who ordered the rare and well done steaks they suggested we swap steaks with each other rather than offering to cook up new steaks. This might have been acceptable if I was with my wife or a good friend, but I was entertaining my clients and they were not happy, nor comfortable eating the rest of my steak. When the new steaks came out we could tell they were reduced in quality then the original ones. When the bill came, nothing was taken off the bill given the lousy experience. After speaking with the manager they eventually took off a few sides from the bill. Disappointing considering I paid a $600 dollar bill and all I got back was bad service, management, and lower qualify steaks. Won't go back, guess it's Del's from now on.
