I love the atmosphere. Classic, wonderful, upper eastside. The food was terrible. It was incredibly overpriced, unimaginable, and plated terribly. I sent back the first dish because it looked like diner food. At $54 a plate for veal marsala. The waiters kept bumping into each other and you couldn't catch their eye for service. Somebody at my table ordered the club sandwich. mush bread plopped over a pile of mush. Ive been to Harrys Bar in Venice. Wonderful. What's going on with the chef here?
We booked here because it is our favorite place when fly in to attend the opera. I ordered the starter beed carpaccio, which was excellent. Our waiter suggested a nice Sancerre to accompany my entree osso bucco, since I don't like red wine. In all, it was a lovely meal and the service, as always, was impeccable.
Food and atmosphere very good little overpriced but this is ny and cipriani...
Always must for lunch when we visit New York. Enjoyed excellent service and delicious food.
Great food, service and people watching.
Wonderful experience except waiting for our table. Host was poorly organized and not friendly. Eventually we sat for our dinner. From then on our experience was spectacular!
Rude hostess and place feels dated and empty. Perhaps too overpriced for what it is nowadays. It used to be more chic and cool.
Awesome! I LOVE this restaurant. It was a joy to dine here and I can’t wait to return. I will happily reorder the wonderful pasta with veal ragu. And the desserts were incredible (the vanilla angel cream cake... Yummmm).
I was expecting a better food. Nothing special. Very, very expensive - you pay the name and the reputation, but it doesn’t worth it. The service was excellent
Ask for the Peruvian waiter he gives the best service!
An enjoyable, albeit pricey evening.Great for a special occasion as ours was.
Excelente el lugar... el mozo oriundo de bangladesh impecable... en general todos muy atentos y serviciales...
Esperamos volver pronto!!!
Bad service and bad food. I was waiting for the manager to approve changing my plate for what I asked for originally.
It’s totally bad service
Good restaurant, the food is teasty and the place is nice in a old fashion way. Is a little overpriced when you look only for the food but as a general standpoint of view, including location and tradition is what I expected. Staff is very gentle even with noisy kids as I was with.
The best attention, service and food. They will always try and make any variations and off menu items . My wife loves it ! A great place to be seen and see.
Excellent bartender! Aldo is the best!
Had heard it was more of a lunch spot but it was lovely for dinner. Very cozy with the glowing sconces on wood panel walls. Staff very attentive.
This place is brilliant, they know how to do things properly. Love it!
Very noisy environment. I think it is unacceptable for a restaurant to have no more bolognaise sauce or gnocchi to serve its customers at 9pm. I had to pick my plate after three previous attempts. My fiancee's plate was without salt and my pasta was not worthy of a restaurant of this level. It was simply disappointing!
Nice and pleasant restaurant, good food, attentive service
I have eaten at various Cipriani restaurants but it was my first time at Harry Cipriani. Food was perfect, waiter was great, but overall ruined by an extremely rude and judgmental manageress/front of house manager. We arrived and even though we were dressed formally, the manageress/front of house manager treated us as if we were a burden. If they want to keep up the high standards of Harry Cipriani, they need to consider hiring a much better/friendlier manageress/front of house manager, unlike the one we had the misfortune of meeting.
Overall, the worst restaurant I have ever been to while traveling. I ordered the chicken with steamed vegetables, which was $44.00. It was similar to a frozen meal I could heat up at home. The Maitre'D was the worst part of it all. I had my coat in my chair wrapped around me, and he would not let me keep my coat in my seat. Instead, he ripped it out from underneath me, and he insisted that I use the coat check, which was not my choice.
Food was good albeit prices not cheap. Great service and atmosphere
Service was attentive and generous. A bit confusing upon entering since is small and handing coats is done among tables. I’m not sure I have a better suggestion. Perhaps walk first to the table and take the coats paring table and coats and bring coats to table after? Innovative service? Not sure. Food is good, agree with other reviewers that is overpriced yet you manage to always have full house. My honest opinion starts with the attentiveness, great gentleman does the trick every time. Than the flowers always should be natural, nothing is more deterrent (other than hit in the food uhhh) than artificial in an upscale restaurant and the bread is preferred ‘rustic’, warm and close to homemade as possible, NY has good bread makers suppliers. This to include the breadsticks... :) thank you for reading my humble review. The Lemon pie was soooo good! Thank you!
Warm, convivial atmosphere when looking in from the outside, not quite the same on the inside. Ridiculous pressure to buy Bellinis. We were asked 3 times within 45 seconds of sitting down. Ridiculous. Then pressured to get bottled water twice before having a chance to open the menu. When I asked for the wine list, they acted as if it was an unusual request. When they finally understood that we were actually there for a meal and not to relive a scene from Sex and the City, every one settled down and let us almost enjoy our acceptable meal. They did try to take our plates away as many times as they offered us Bellinis, and, we had to similarly chase them away. Sure it's a tourist trap, but at $150 a head, couldn't they treat us better than prey?
Always the best at Harry’s Bar!
Marianna and Aldo go above and beyond as always 💕
THE BEST LAMB I EAT IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I LIVE IN ARGENTINA, I HAVE TRIED LAMB. THIS LAMB WAS PERFECT. GO TO CIPRIANI'S HAVE THE LAMB.
There is never a disappointment at this place. The food is exceptional! The bellinis are to die for! And let's not even talk about the pasta. We travel an hour to hear just for the pasta. Everyone at the restaurant is very nice and the service is top notch!
As usual, an outstanding experience!
Perfect service, excelent food and good wine list.
We had a delightful evening at Harry Cipriani. Three of us met a friend who lives in Manhattan. A great bottle of Brunello de Montalcino followed Bellinis for the ladies. Each of us had no trouble finding multiple entrees that would have satisfied our appetites; narrowing the choice was a bit of work but the waiter suggested his favorites, and we were very happy.
Altogether a memorable evening. We will be back.
Food was unimpressionable and the service wasn't stellar. Need improvement on both especially for the price point.
They brought the main course while we are in the middle of the entrance
Wait staff was not good- asked for recommendations and waiter was rude. Appetizer was mediocre main course was bland. Seemed like a dinner for the rich folks on upper east side to call their own. Would no recommend this location.
Cipriani’s is always a spectacular experience. From the moment Marianna warmly greets you at the door you know you’re going to be well cared for and spoiled.
Simply a fantastic experience.
