Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse - Rosemont Ratings and Reviews
We chose to sit at a table in the bar area which seemed to be filled with an after-work crowd.
Drinks are a bit pricey, but they did have some specials. The bruscetta was great - fresh mozzarella, basil, etc. Of course, this is known for their home-made potato chips, too. Two of us had Italian dishes: eggplant and chicken parmigiana. The eggplant wasn't accompanied by anything, the chicken had spaghetti. My son had the lamb chops which he thought were terrific! We had a friendly, efficient server.
It's fun to look at all the celebrity photos in lobby.
Reservation made for 11:45. We were immediately seated upon our arrival at 11:45. This was a business lunch with one of my customers.
The restaurant didn't appear to be any busier for lunch than normal. However, we waited what I feel was an extremely long time 1 Chicken Chopped salad & 1 of the specials of the day. Food ordered was placed at approximately 12:10. Food did not arrive until 12:40.
I will assume this was an exception vs. the rule for this restaurant at lunch. So I do plan to make a reservation for lunch again in the future.
Food and service was excellent. A little on the pricey side. Excellent cocktails. Total tab for two people, two cocktails each, two entrees and one side that was shared, was $146, including tip. Had I not had a gift certificate, I probably would not go there.
Had simple spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. Eat here very often with clients and always go big with excellent steak or fish but when you do the simple things just as well, that is the sign of excellence! Great food, wine, and service and terrific ambiance. HOLY COW!!
We go there every new year. Special occasion, i understand that im going to drop a good dollar, thgat being said, what you charge for a cocktail that is going to be 75% ice and so damn weak is absolutely atrocious! I may try a new place next year just based on that alone. Its a shame, when you spend $$$$$ the least you could do is offer a quality drink.
Went for New Years Eve dinner. The food was good, not great but good. No major complaints. The service was terribly slow and it really wasn’t very busy when we went. Server forgot our salad, not a huge deal. But it took a while for our meal to come out. We waited 15 minutes after our finishing our meal for the server to come back. I’d go back, the toasted ravioli and Brussel sprouts, 4 cheese macaroni and cheese were great. Steaks were ok.
Always a wonderful meal, even when service is not at its best due to the excitement of the evening: New Year's Eve. There was an after dinner drink that never made it to the table simply having been forgotten. They seemed perhaps slightly understaffed for the evening. But the evening still went off without any significant glitches. Our meals were near perfect and the cold steak was quickly replaced with a freshly cooked to perfection steak. The chef actually came to the table to make sure it was to our liking. Which it absolutely was. Our wedge salad was absolutely perfect. And dessert was killer chocolate cake, not really the lava cake with chocolate oozing out but more a dense brownie that was so decadent we actually finished the whole thing!
I ordered the 1/2 chicken Vesuvio. It was pathetic. My chicken breast was missing the skin. The rest of the pieces of chicken had the skin but it was not at all browned like you would expect when ordering chicken Vesuvio. The food was not that warm. The service was lacking. We ran out of drinks multiple times. I could go to the fast casual place down the street and have better chicken.
This was our 4th or 5th time going to the restaurant on Xmas Day. In the past we always had the same waiter but he has transferred to their downtown location. His attentiveness and personality had allowed us to disregard a couple issues in the past but with his departure I expect we will be finding another fine dining location for Xmas 2018.
Too issues I had with the experience...
1) They gave our table of 5 to a trainee with a shadow. I can understand the need to get staff training but on a holiday and for a group of 5? This issue was eventually resolved when the "shadow" waiter took over for the trainee for some reason and handled the rest of the service past the initial order. When I asked where she was he said she was folding napkins. Amazingly everyone got the correct order but we often waited for drinks or to have dishes removed from the table.
2) For the second time we got a less than desirable assigned table. I'm not sure if its the group size or what but one year our party of 5 was put right by the bussing station and this year they seated us at a table in the center of a narrow section of the room one "unoccupied" table away from the kitchen doors. During the entire meal my wife and I had wait-staff with trays of food zipping overheard and past us on both sides of the table.
I should have listened to the wife and ask to be moved but didn't want to risk waiting around because they were somewhat busy. Not sure who else was there thru Open Table but I usually feel like that matters when you reserve a table...didn't seem to matter much to Harry Caray's given where they decided to put us.
So, next time we go out and spend $450 for a family dinner we'll look for another place. Sorry Harry Caray's...let us know if Robert comes back, then maybe we will.
We selected Harry Caray's to celebrate the purchase of a new home. My steak was excellent as were my drinks and sides. My companion was not so lucky...his steak was tough, though his beer and sides were very good. I would suggest the filet over any other cut of meat given our experience. Brussel sprouts are a great choice for a side dish and it is certainly big enough for two people to share. Our waiter was very accommodating, the service was attentive but not invasive.
Food was delicious. Service was a little less to be desired. Server was apparently overwhelmed with too many tables and we waited quite some time for our cocktails. One of our guests had to send her dinner back as it was not correct. We were all then waiting to say grace and begin our meals as we also all had to wait. Will return again but probably at a different time of the evening so we can get better service.
We went to Harry Carry’s for dinner on Thanksgiving and I was disappointed. The turkey was dry, the sides were just okay and the table was too small to fit the 2 huge plates they used to serve the food. McCormick & Schmicks was much better last year for Thanksgiving dinner.
Waited 30 minutes after arrival to get seated despite having reservations. After being sat waited another 20 minutes for water and start of service. Waiter was condescending to all he waited on. Thanksgiving “buffet “ had empty trays that were never refilled ( who runs out of sweet potatoes?)
