Every restaurant has a off night. I have eaten here several times and it's usually a perfect 10. I still reccomend this place. The calamari was excellent as usual. The Conrad in Indianapolis and Harry Carry are the two best places I have ever eaten calamari.
We had very good service from our waiter, but that was the only thing that was good. The filets that were ordered were not cooked to what was ordered. We ordered them medium rare and they were raw on the inside. We did not say anything as we were there with our adult children who live out of town, and we don’t see often, so we just wanted a nice time without commotion. Also our busboy was too eager and took our plates before we were finished. He kept coming back every few minutes and then he just started taking our plates and I still had my fork in my hand. Also my daughter ordered the rigatoni alla vodka, and it was VERY spicy. It did not state that on the menu. Also the creamed spinach was just sautéed spinach put over cream and not mixed and had no flavor. I wished we had a better experience as we just wanted a nice casual time with our family and did want to have to think about how our food was not right We have dined here before and were happy, but this time they really did not meet expectations and put a dent in our evening
We had a wonderful experience for our friend's surprise 70th birthday party. Leslie was our server and was extra attentive and went out of her way to make our party run smoothly. She kept an eye out for anything we might need and even sang happy birthday along with us! All at Harry Caray were very friendly and even gave us a table in a quiet area for our little group. We would highly recommend this restaurant the food was excellent as well.
The best aspect is the atmosphere - low key happy, with the ability to have an intimate conversation. Pair that with great food, cooked to perfection that includes italian innovation and classics, as well as steak and seafood - and you have a fabulous evening with one person or many. Kevin served us well, friendly and attentive. He also gave us space to talk. Each location visited over the years has fit the bill for great food and an enjoyable evening. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The food was delicious and the service excellent.
Our only complaint is where we were seated. The hostess took us to a booth where one of us was facing the wall. There were many, many empty tables and other booths available. That and no Chianti on the wine list were our only complaints.
We reserved a table for 8 for a lunch meeting. They called earlier that morning to ask if we wanted a table in the bar or dining area. We chose the dining because it was quieter. We were there for several hours. Wait staff was excellent and gave us the time we needed. Thank you for the hospitality!
Went on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. Place was 1/4 full . And now I know why. Waiter and other service staff was attentive and excellent. We ordered three different types of steak filet mignon, bone In ribeye wet aged and New York strip. Harry would turn over in his grave. Thumbs down for all three steaks. Tasteless and tough. Looked, smelled and tasted like the same steak you receive at Pondarosa steakhouse.
The only reason I didn't make a fuss was because I didn't want to turn this birthday celebration into what a bad meal we had at it.
Beer selection was excellent but you can get that anywhere nowadays.
Salads were very good. Crab cake was very good. I was told the pasta was just average .
We did have fun looking at all the pictures at the front of the restaurant.
Harry's is a favorite of mine. The food is great. They are always accommodating to special requests. (This time I asked we be seated out of the main dining area because a group of friends who hadn't seen each other in years wanted to catch up) The Lombard location is easy for people coming from different directions to meet. The outside patio is excellent in the summer and they regularly have live entertainment on the weekend. My friends liked it so much that we plan to meet there again next month.
I'll keep it short. The dinner was really good. Food was good, server for dinner was really great. He did a great job. However, we moved over to the bar area after and had a great, long business conversation over a few drinks. The bartender was good, no issue there. However as it go closer to 11, the crowd thinned out and the staff (not our waiter or bartender, but pretty much everyone else) got extremely impatient with our presence. A blonde waitress (hadn't seen her all night until this point) apparently had enough and was ready to go home. She came to our table and told us that we needed to leave, took our drinks that were about half empty and stared at us until we got up and left. I've never been more embarrassed! I was with customers talking a major deal. I'll never go to another Harry Caray's again. These customers were from out of town, so great job on ensuring that they'll never try it again either when visiting. I stay in the Westin at least 1 time each month and frequent the restaurant. From now on I'll simple eat elsewhere before returning to the hotel. So you're also going to lose out on my bar tab as well which was usually 2 or 3 nights on the weeks i'm in town.
Our family was very disappointed in the assortment of food. This is not the special place that we would come to on Mother's Day a few years ago. We will not recommend this place for special occasions -- and certainly not a special day like Mother's Day.
Food was not up to a restaurant of this caliber. The octopus was soaked in oil when served. It was good but too much oil. Ceaser salad was fresh and crisp but very light on dressing. Some of the salad didn't even have any dressing on it. We both had eggplant parmigiana and it was sliced with mozzarella on top. Very plain, not much excitement. We also ordered sausage on the side. Came over cooked and dry. Took home leftovers and tossed them out.
Server was excellent. And was well tipped but food was not where it should be. Came in around 4:30 on a Thursday so maybe that's why.
