Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse - Lombard
Bacon Cheddar Twice Baked Potato
My parents were with a couple of our friends celebrating their return from near the North Pole. The food, service and ambiance were great. It was rather quiet, which I
presume was because of the ongoing Corona virus scare, as only two other tables
were occupied, but that helped to have a normal and convivial discussion.
Dinner was outstanding. Yes, it is expensive but there is a reason for it. The quality of ingredients the aging process the ambiance all come together for a great dining experience. Our server Kevin was wonderful. He is knowledgeable and funny and has a welcoming personality that helps in what many times can be a stuffy steakhouse atmosphere in other restaurants. Our son has a food allergy and everyone was very accommodating from the AGM on down. There was constant communication and they let us know what was safe to order for him. Overall a wonderful experience. When we go back we will definitely ask for Kevin again as well.
Love the food and our waiter was great - Roger. Very pleasant experience. We will be back.
The GM (Andrea) was awful. We were in a private room with our young dancers staying at the hotel for their dance convention. Her tone about the restaurant directed at the moms was inappropriate and unnecessary. The Manager (make) did come in and apologize as did the server as he thought it was uncalled for and he was uncomfortable taking our orders when she came into the room and made her comments and left. I won’t plan yo come back with my family since clearly children aren’t welcome which is a shame since it was a huge dance convention and I’m sure was good for business. Disappointed
The food was amazing, nice music, not loud, great service. Always a great experience.
Really good. We enjoyed our evening there. Great menu.
Our food, service and overall experience was fantastic. We will be back!
Server was nice. Perhaps checked in a few too many times, but it was slow so I’m sure he was just trying to stay busy. Food was good, but nothing spectacular. Managers checked in and were very friendly. All staff did a great job, but food was just ok for price. Very accommodating for gluten allergy, which we really appreciated.
This restaurant was so good I would definitely recommended it to family and friends to eat at it was one of my favorite places that my husband and I picked!
The staff was incredibly accommodating. Our group of 7 people wanted a round table. They gave us a round table. We were able to stay as long as we wanted and had no trouble interacting because the setting was private and quiet. The food was great and prices were fair. Will definitely return!!
Great food, great selection, great service. Nicely appointed and atmosphere.
The food was bland, and cold and overcooked. The waiter and manager remade the dishes and compensated us for the drinks. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Will not go back.
Service was excellent but the fillet was lacking a tad bit that’s why the deduction of one star. I was disappointed that the steak was not char grilled but it was perfectly cooked to my preference which hardly ever gets done no matter where I go. Everything else I had was outstanding. Very good dining experience. My husband had the strip steak and was pleased with his choice as well.
Food was delicipus
Great gluten-free menu. Many options. Will be back!
The waiter didn’t explain specials very well. He was kind of spacey and unorganized. We were the only party in restaurant so he wasn’t busy. The food was average. Eggplant parm was thick and kinda rubbery - not breaded that well. The shrimp scampi was not light enough and the portion was way too big. Shrimp was good.
Very enjoyable. No complaints.
This was for my wife's birthday celebration. We had been to Harry's downtown several times years ago, and she fell in love with the way they made chicken caccitori and was looking forward to having it again. We were disappointed to not find it on the menu. She asked if the chef would make it for her and was very happy to find out he would. Everything was wonderful. Thank you
When I am going to spend a lot of money on a dining experience, I expect the food and service to be much better than this. The grass fed steak was tough and chewy, even though it was asked if the lean steak would be juicy. The waiter said it would be fine. The waiter seemed upset that I did not order an add-on to the steak, though others in my party did. Waiter did not describe that the peppercorn add-on to the steak ordered by one of my guests meant that the steak was pre-cut. This is not how you serve expensive steak. We could have ordered other steaks built correctly. Empty water glasses were ignored while additional alcohol was ordered and delivered. Water was filled much later at end of meal. It was not busy and could have been done. Although I put in the Open Table reservation that it was someone's birthday in the party, it was never asked or acknowledged. Other tables we heard recognition of birthdays. Next time going to Maggianos.
The food was great and the service was excellent as always.
The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. Kevin our server was top knotch.
We went not knowing what to order but when we were presented with the meat tray we all ordered steaks. 2 ordered the filet and I ordered the dry aged ribeye. We were all satisfied with our food but I wish I had ordered the wet aged ribeye because I love it juicier. The bruschetta starter was great, we shared the twice baked potato side dish enough for 3 of us. Tiramisu for dessert was a nice finish. Kevin, our sever did a super job and is quite a showman. My only knock was it was a little pricier than it should be. I will go again but I think I will try the chicken Vesuvius.
Good food, especially the potato chips! Plus, my wife is in a wheelchair and the staff was very accomodating to her needs, opening doors, helping us get to the table., making us feel comfortable. I had the fish and chips which was good, but I ahould have gotton the home made potato chips instead of fries. All our meals...reuben, roast beef, soup....were good.
The food was great but our server made our experience even better. He was very friendly and attentive. We would definitely come back again.
Food was delicious, times reservation was amazing, seated right away, staff was wonderful.
We dined there for NYE, and it was not packed like most places on NYE. I ordered the chicken salad with the chicken to be warm. The server brought me the seafood salad with a side of chicken, which was wrong. As for others, if you order the crab legs be sure to ask how many, as we only received one crab leg, which we were informed it was 1lb. If you would like a crusted steak, go to Wildfire for it. When the steak came out all you had to do was blow, and the “crust” blew off the steak. As for when the bill came I noticed the server put a drink i order on the bill and I informed him of it. As we were putting on our jackets to leave he brought me the drink that I paid for.
First time being there love everything about it great food great service nice atmosphere
Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse has a nice interior, and the menu is nicely varied. The scallops I had were excellent, and my dining partners really enjoyed their whitefish. The main issue we had was with the service. The server seemed friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but seemed to be absent minded. For one thing, I don't recall him asking us if we wanted any other drinks other than water when he first greeted us. I later asked for a beer, and he never brought it. I didn't bring it up again because we were already at dessert by then. And at dinner, one of my friends asked for a side of mashed potatoes. He allegedly went to place the order, but they didn't come. We had to ask another waiter to find out what happened with my order, and that person brought us the potatoes. The first waiter comes back, and says maybe the potatoes went to another table by accident. Same thing ordering dessert. The first waiter takes the order, nothing arrives, and we have another waiter bringing us the deserts. Considering we spent a low three figure amount for dinner, I'd expect a sever to be on top of things. I would try the restaurant a second time, but if I receive the same disconnected service I had on New Years Eve, I won't be back
The food was horrible and pretty pricey, we couldn’t hear each other because they put us next to a party that was loud. It was my husband’s birthday we were very disappointed!
Great food and service from the staff. Steaks and chops brought to the table to explain the different cuts and dry aging. Will return again tried the medallions and crusted ribeye on the specials and they were excellent. Harry would be proud.
Excellent food and service.
I was a bit disappointed in my meal
3 sliders and they were bad pieces!
Our waiter Joe was terrific! Most dinners excellent, one NY Strip needed more flavor. Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas evening meal & appreciated that you handled our party of eleven. Great meal overall!
Our waiter Kevin was great! Very festive dining area. Disappointed with the steaks as we ordered them medium and they were served almost raw. My daughter sent hers back twice. We did need to ask for bread as it was not offered initially. I think we may try Morton or Capital Grill next time just was not thrilled with what we ordered.
The waiter was great. My coffee was cold as soon as it was delivered to the table. Waiter got me a new cup of coffee.. My husbands beef sandwich was super messy to eat.
My tacos were ok. The salsa was spicy and I couldn’t eat it. Portion size of salsa was that of a ketchup holder from McDonalds. Really too small.
Table leg was not stable. Drinks got spilled till waiter came over to fix it. It lasted for a while. Then was unstable again.
Drinks were expencive!
Ate there Friday night and was very disappointed. There were two of us. I ordered a salad and my dinner partner ordered soup. My salad came well before hers in which a manager who delivered mine asked her if she ordered anything. It did not come for almost 5 minutes and when it did come the soup was lukewarm. She asked to have it reheated, and when it came back it was a smaller bowl of soup (more like a cup). Still charged for a bowl and not a cup even when she questioned the waiter about the size difference. We both ordered filet and asked for them to be cooked well done and butter fly would be acceptable. The steaks were rare. Waiter agreed that they were rare and were sent back. Mine came back fine while hers was still quite rare. Brussels sprouts were very spicy. When our bill came there was no compensation what so ever for any of the mishaps. The restaurant was not busy at all and our waiter only had 2 other tables besides ours. In the beginning the hostess was going to seat us at a table set for 5 in a half moon shape. Really? The steaks were $35.00 a piece. Will not be going to this restaurant again.
The service was excellent and the those who ordered Chicken Vesuvio said it was excellent. However, the Parmesan crusted lemon sole, had bones in it which did not make for a good experience. Most dishes are ala carte, so be prepared.
When I asked if we could change reservation to a little earlier I was told they were booked. But the dining room was not even half full. Turkey just so-so. sweet potatoes undercooked and didn't like having all the sides but had to wait on the meat. Had to ask for a couple of sides to be replenished. You should have been on top of that.
Our second time for the Thanksgiving buffet, but have been here for dinner and drinks many times. The food and service were wonderful, and the restaurant was decorated for the holidays, which just added to the experience. Harry Caray's always gets it right.
