Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
We had a wonderful experience. Steve our waiter as well as the rest of the staff went above and beyond to give us a great night out. We had our 2 year old son with us and Steve and other waiters treated him so well, he had a great night out as well. Highly recommended for food and service!
We happened upon Harry’s visiting Chicago. We had been to a concert and ducted in for a bite afterwards. We felt very welcomed and pampered. Carlos our waiter made several suggestions, he was spot on. Since we did have steak that night, we went back the next night
Everything from appetizers to desserts were delicious
While visiting Chicago, my husband and I took a Gangster tour in which stopped at Harry Caray's to see the wall photo's and gangster paraphernalia and decided we liked the menu. We made reservations for the same night. The service was great. I ordered the scallops and my husband the small filet with hash browns. The flavor of the purple roasted purple cauliflower with the truffle oil was so delicious as was the scallops. We will definitely return on our next trip to Chicago.
The set menu was outstanding! We each had a wedge salad, 8 oz filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My wife had tiramisu while I had key lime pie. Our steaks were done to perfection, her’s medium well and mine medium. The desserts were incredible, although we couldn’t finish them. Our waiter, Don, enjoyed his job way too much! He enjoyed cutting up with us and helped make it a very enjoyable meal and evening. We will be back!
We had a reservation for 10 people and needed to add one more at the last minute. The staff was able to accommodate that even with a very full and busy night. The food and service were great. We had a very enjoyable group dinner. I would go back. I personally had the filet with a gorgonzola crust, very good for sure.
So, I know it is "touristy" but I had not been to this place in 15 years and some out of towners wanted to go so we tried it. And loved it. It had great energy on a busy Saturday night. Our group of 8 were seated relatively close to our reservation time. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had dry aged bone in ribeye that was done perfectly (medium) and quite flavorful. The charred broccoli (with peppadew peppers) and sweet corn brulee were excellent side dishes! Probably the highlights of our meal. The truffled arancini were just OK. Not much exciting happening there. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
Had The chicken vesuvio which had a lot of flavor. This is a tourist trap and always full. The servers are going to make a lot of money just on the sure volume of people in the restaurant, therefore they provide minimal service. I asked the server how different things on the menu were prepared and if he had recommendations, he just said it depends what you like and just went to the next table. There are better restaurants Chicago, but if you are looking for a decent meal with some cool memorabilia go to this restaurant. If you are looking for great food and excellent service, go elsewhere.
Impeccable service, great wine list and delicious food is all I can say after a great dinner experience. Being from Texas I have had more than my fair share of great steaks, but the steak at Harry Caray's was the best I have ever had. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare and paired with an excellent red wine. I cannot wait to return.
We loved everything about this place. I was convinced it would be touristy and lacking in quality as many places that rely on a celebrity name can be. We had burratta and grilled octopus to start along with the BLT wedge. Very nice. I ordered lamb for the table which honestly could have been the entire meal along with sides. There was a steak ordered rivaling any great steak restaurant offering (I can’t confirm i don’t eat steak). And finally I had the shrimp scampi which was gorges is with large garlicky shrimp and bright lemony flavor. We even had dessertk. Service is attentive and friendly in just the right amounts. The atmosphere is energetic but not frenetic. We had a great evening.
