Harry & Izzy's - Northside Ratings and Reviews
This was our 1st time dining at Harry & Izzy's and it was a real treat! We truly enjoyed the unique and rich flavors! Even though we were pleasantly full from dinner, we treated ourself to their amazing looking Bread Pudding...and it was sooooo delicious! We couldn't stop eating it!
My wife and I enjoyed a very lovely Valentine's dinner at H. and I.'s. We were seated on the mezzanine and it was fun to look down on the rest of restaurant as we dined . Our server Jodi was fun, knowledgeable, and very efficient. Our meal included the famous shrimp cocktail, two huge salads, and trout for the lady and scallops for myself. There was not a bad bite in the entire meal and we had enough left over to have a very nice lunch the next day.
Th food wasn’t that great. The burrata salad was so large that even having split it, it was not only too much for even 2 people. And had to pull teeth to request to split the burrata. We were given tha excuse that the cheese would melt. It wouldn’t if it were cold which is how it should be served and after insisting, we got our split and sure bough not melting. My filet was good and tender though not too warm. My dates peach pasta was over cooked and had too much sauce. I was not pleased with the food or the service considering it is supposedly a take off of St Elmo’s Steakhouse with same owners. The price is too expensive for the type of service and quality of service expected for the price and the pasta needs improvement. As a person who goes to many high quality restaurants, I would probably not go back to H&I again. Texas Steakhouse (at Fishers, IN) makes excellent steak especially for the price. I don’t expect as much for service as it’s less expensive but ironically they address the n Ed’s of the customers better. It’s an ok place— I just don’t think that H&I (On 86th) make the cut in that caliber of high end Steakhouse or restuarants.
Ordered at changeover from lunch to dinner. Wrong meals delivered, which was corrected. A little longer wait, but no big deal. Very apologetic, offered other items while waiting which was refused. Delicious dinner was delivered and we were charged for less than half. Very considerate for a little mistake.
The food was amazing! Everything was great except the waiter was not proficient at pouring wine. We ordered the 1st bottle of wine & the waiter dripped wine all over the table cloth while pouring & after pouring the bottle of wine; wine was also dripped into water glasses. For the next 2 bottles of wine I told the waiter to just open the wine & place it on the table & we would pour it. Would think at a restaurant of this nature would teach their service staff to properly pour wine & not drip it all over the table.
Can't beat the steak and shrimp cocktail - we went for the Devour Indy promotion, and the filet was one of the most tender I've had. Shrimp cocktail was phenomenal, as expected. A little disappointed in the barbeque chicken - not that rich a taste, although we asked for the gluten-free sauce so that may have played a role. Also asparagus seemed a little on the crispy side and cheesecake was nothing to write home about. Overall it was a nice meal, but with a glass of wine each and the Devour Indy package (with an upgrade from 6 oz to 8 oz filet), we still payed over $100 for two of us. The atmosphere was nice for a date, although it was a little loud on the first floor.
Good experience - great food . Good service and a fairly noisy environment. We were a bit surprised to see two women with three small children near us - very noisy. I realize this is sensitive for the restaurant to deal with but it was very distracting and not the adult environment we expected.
Other than that - very good.
Service was excellent, the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were mushy- the filet was cold ? This is the2nd time we’ve had mediocre food here. We eat at a lot of the surrounding steakhouses and Harry’s just isn’t very good. I wish it were - wishing it doesn’t make it so.
We were there to celebrate a Birthday. I asked if they could bring out a cupcake or piece of cake w candle to make it a bit special. I was told "yes, we'd be happy to do that" and nothing was done. Not a big deal but a pretty simple request. It would have been nice.
The quality of the food is always good. I was surprised when my & my daughter’s steak was underdone so I switched with her. When I let my server know this & wasn’t asked if they could send back or get us another, I was surprised. It was also my husbands birthday & there was nothing offered to him for dessert. Albeit we were there for Devour Indy so had a dinner that included, but again, shocked to have not been offered. They also didn’t clean up table crumbs between courses, took the wrong fork & didn’t exchange for clean knife before entree was served.
ordered steak medium and it came well done. Waiter agreed and took it back. By the time I had it back my husband was done eating. I did not get to eat with him and since he was done took it home. Very disappointing. I will think twice before coming again. Ambiance was ruined.
