Harry & Izzy's - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Overall the atmosphere is usually good. When my steak came out it tasted like it had been sitting for a while because it wasn't as warm as I've had it before. The mashed potatoes were definitely sitting out for a while because they were cold and crusted. For the price and reputation we expect more and usually they deliver. This was an unfortunate experience.
Normally we have a great experience here but service and management were off on this visit. We were seated upstairs (third floor) has away from any kind of ambience and that was disappointing. We had the worse service. Two other tables were seated after us and received their drinks and food before us. When ours came the soup was cold and so where the sides. The manager was yelling and putting the staff down every time we saw him. It was distracting for us and the staff. We will return because of food and normally we have an excellent waiter however will request to seat in main dining area and bar and hope they have a better manager on duty which will lead to better waiters.
I met client's here pre-Colts game. It had a nice atmosphere, but was a little noisy for my taste, especially for Sunday brunch. The service was wonderful, very friendly and attentive staff. The St.Elmo's shrimp cocktail was phenomenal...a must! Food was good, but I was not impressed with the brussel sprouts I ordered as my side dish. I will be back and would recommend to friends and colleagues.
An absolute must do when visiting Indianapolis. The cuisine to the bar menu is unmatched. There is something for everyone and their budget. The staff is very accommodating. We stayed for hours chatting the night away and the attentive service was first rate the entire time.
this was out first visit, we were there for the weekend and to attend the colts game. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. the only negative thing was my order was not correct, and my wife waited for my meal before we dined together. We were in no hurry, but it distracted from the experience. I was offered soup while I waited for my meal. I was surprised that I was charged for the soup. Anyway, we would go back again in the the future, the food was great.
We planned a surprise birthday party for my sister! Everyone was wonderful with helping us keep it a surprise and accommodating to the decorations (stayed low key... nothing outrageous) we brought and they even hid the cake for us! Highly suggest Harry and Izzy’s for special occasions... which with the prices it certainly is for me at least, a special occasional, to eat here! Good food matters when you’re spending more but to me excellent services goes even further and Harry and Izzy’s staff provided 5 Star, top service!
we had a business lunch here for 6 people. We were given a large round table which made it easy for us to all have the same discussion and be involved. It was located in a relatively quiet corner, but by the windows so it didn't feel like we were in a small space. Food was delicious if a tad pricey, and we would all recommend coming here again.
Steaks cooked perfectly. My husband orders his steak well done and often gets judgemental looks/comments from the server. But not at Harry and Izzy's. Our server, Doug, was very friendly and offered excellent suggestions, attended to our needs promptly without being overbearing or hovering. Truly enjoyed the evening.
Appetizers were great. Calamari was excellent. The steaks are better at Outback. Got their "special" 60 day dry aged NY Strip and was no better than a strip steak on my grill. My wife's Filet was underwhelming as well. The brownie sundae was very good. Service was attentive. They messed up my kid's pizza but got him a new one without onions and did comp us for that which was nice.
Overall, this place is fantastic. Had the 60-day dry aged ribeye special which was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The brussels sprouts were good but could be a bit more crispy. Service was outstanding. Tables can be placed in odd places but overall not a major concern.
