Fantastic!!! Best restaurant in Indy!
This place is, unfortunately, overrated. Perhaps it is with endearment that the locals continue to recommend it? I'm not sure. But the service was underwhelming, starting with a distracted hostess, long wait time and poor meal pacing. From start to finish, we flew through 3 courses in about 45 minutes despite asking them to wait a bit between courses. Next, the dry-aged steaks that came highly recommended were bland and flavorless, without the classic dry-aged flavor and lovely crusting you'd normally expect. I honestly question whether the steaks are truly dry-aged or if it's just the subpar cooking/preparation method they used? Our server did apologize for the poor pacing of the meal (we never mentioned it, he just noticed that our steaks cam out about 5 minutes after the salad and soup, and before we even received steak knives), but no attempt to rectify it was made; in fact, dessert was brought out shortly after the main course! I would not go back here. I believe it is a nice, local gem with lovely architecture and a nice backstory, but for a good, flavorful, dry-aged steak, look elsewhere. I don't usually recommend chains, but in Indianapolis, the best steaks can be found at Ruth's Chris, Capitol Grille and Morton's. Definitely not here.
Awesome dinner! Great food and service!! Steaks were prepared perfectly and salads very fresh. Only hiccup of the night was valet parking pick up. Overall experience was excellent!!
it was St. Patrick's Day weekend and things were hopping. We had a wonderful table (L2) right by the window and our server Meg was attentive and fun. The steaks were good as always as was the famous shrimp cocktail. It is expensive but for a special occasion it is worth it!
Very well done in all areas! Will return.
The waiter was friendly and the food was delicious!
we're from st louis, had great time, perfect reservation system, adequate seating, professional waiter (Mohammed) drinks pricey but food and drink worth every penny.
Gluten free menu choices were good. Great food! Not many choices for appetizers and/ or sides.
Wonderful experience-again! Outstanding service and food! The food is fabulous and the best steaks and French onion soup in the Midwest.
Amazing food and wonderful service! We were there for lunch and I felt the prices were reasonable and portions were generous.
We dined at Harry & Izzy's for a close friends' birthday on Friday, March 15, 2019. Overall we had a wonderful time. Our server Theresa was professional, answered all our questions, was extra attentive with our birthday quest and fast & efficient. Great customer service! The food was phenomenal!!! We sat upstairs in the alcove area, the windows were open and the crowd was lively. The only drawback was the group of older gentlemen at the round table behind us that were just a little too loud. We felt at times we had to shout or wait until they were done talking. All in all a wonderful time and we'll return next time we're in town. Thanks again!
The steaks were outstanding as advertised, as was the service, knowledge and courtesy from your staff. However, dinner for my guests and I was ruined by a loud and abnoxious group of 12-14 of your patrons that arrived halfway into our dinner and were seated near our table. It's a shame the low levels of class some diners exhibit. Ther group at my table were made to feel uncomfortable by their threatening stares and gestures. Perhaps, in the future, staff can make arrangement for groups like this to be isolated from other diners.
This was our second time at Harry warm on the outside, cold on the inside, and soooo good!
The restaurant was packed on that Thursday night, but our waiter didn’t miss a beat. The restaurant has a classic but fun ambience. I recommend for either a date night or a fun dinner with friends!
Nothing notable. Not impressed with NY strip steak - grissly and tough. Enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and would recommend. Limited selection of gin - did not carry any the brands I prefer. How disappointing. Had to settle for a vodka martini. Service ok, again, nothing extraordinary.
Harry & Izzy's is always a great option when dining downtown Indianapolis. We stopped in for some cocktails and apps before the Pacers Game. I particularly love that we didn't feel pressured to order main courses since we only wanted a quick bite before moving on to the rest of our evening. The service was fantastic, timely, and the food is always amazing. Highly recommend this Indianapolis mainstay for happy hour/dinner.
The food, drinks and service were all excellent! Our family had a wonderful evening!
In a word...perfect! I love the atmosphere, service, and food quality!
Always great, this was no exception. Steaks are fantastic, just a great place to dine for any reason.
Great service and excellent meal.
The service fell short quite a bit. Restaurant Manager made it right for us.
Great service. The filet was wonderful. Upscale yet casual atmosphere. I’m excited to return for the dessert.
Winter was not very experienced. Poor advice on desserts. Didn’t deserve the automatic 20% tip for a large group
Harry and Izzy’s is simply one of my favorite places to eat. I was having a small graduation dinner and had nine people. The service my Muhammad was EXCELLENT. He was friendly, helpful and patient. I even was served a free bread pudding as a surprise dessert! The ONLY downside was some of the ribeye steaks were a little more fatty than we are used to at Harry and Izzy’s. I actually had to spit out two pieces of gristle. Other than that, everything was great! I’ll be back again and again!
Clayton was our Server. He made the experience what it was. Highly knowledgeable about the menu, unafraid to engage with us or make suggestions, he was absolutely an asset for this restaurant. Food was delicious, ambiance is a great mix of casual and formal. If you go, you have to try the Bread Pudding. You have to. Doctors orders.
Great restaurant with generous portions!
Four of us were dining. We all had something different. After dinner every single one of us raved about every single item we had to eat. We had a brownie because it was my birthday And somehow that was the best brownie I’ve ever eaten in my whole life. Heads up my favorite place to dine in Indiana.
Dinner was for my wife’s birthday. The food was fantastic, as usual. It was a perfect night with my wife and a couple of friends.
This was by far, the best ribeye I have ever had. My wife greatly enjoyed the St. Elmo cocktail shrimp. If we ever come back to Indianapolis, we will definitely come back.
Perfect food, drink, service and atmosphere.
Jordan did an amazing job with our 50th wedding celebration party of 10!!!! The food was awesome, too!
One of our favorite places to gather with friends in Indy!!
The scallops were amazing...absolutely amazing! I have always gotten the steak, but will probably only get the scallops now (and I’ve always loved the steak too!)
I always enjoy my visit to Harry & Izzy's. Food is wonderful, especially shrimp cocktail. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good restaurant to visit in Indy.
Great time while attending the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament
Fantastic, just fantastic. Great ambiance, incredible food, everything was top notch.
Our son & his family gave us a gift certificate for Christmas so we decided to use it for our recent wedding anniversary. We were able to book a room at the Conrad for the night & very happy to note that both of these establishments were attached to the shopping mall. This was a warm & safe way for us to spend this very auspicious occasion on a very cold winter night. Thank you Harry & Izzy's my husband & I plan to do this more often !!!!!!!!
Food and service were fantastic! Will be returning again soon.
I had the Elmo Cola with 60 day dry aged ribeye. Very good quality but will point out that their medium rare was more on rare sized. However I still enjoyed it very much. I would get the same steak again except go for medium.
The shrimp cocktail packs a punch and is like none other! Excellent service, the food was cooked to perfection, and fun atmosphere. A must when in Indianapolis!
I am never disappointed when we eat at Harry & Izzy’s! I am willing to pay the premium price for the premium product and service!! My only negative is I am more and more reluctant to come downtown, this particular time our van was stuck in the center of a HUGE fight! We couldn’t move, we were stuck trying to get in the parking garage. It was very scary. I’m almost not willing to to have the amazing experience as it may be my last (not worth dying for)..... I’m sorry and know it’s not in your control.
