A very nice experience
Mother and daughter weekend!! The food was superb, our server was incredible and very accommodating and the ambiance was perfect.
Patrick went above and beyond to make me and my family feel comfortable and make my wife’s birthday a memorable one.
The cocktail shrimp and the Fried chicken were outstanding.
Look forward to coming back
Overall, a nice experience.
The Virginia mushrooms were over salted. The pureed potatoes were barely luke warm. Otherwise, my husband enjoyed his meat dish and we both enjoyed the cheese board.
Our server and his assistant were excellent.
The service was impeccable. The food was outstanding loved it all food service atmosphere. Hats off to the chef and entire staff!
Too expensive for a brunch that really had nothing fancy on the menu .
75$ per person should get you much better choice .
I won’t return for the brunch .
I celebrated a milestone birthday at their Sunday Brunch. They were full and the service was average BUT THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!!I am a super picky eater and everything was delicious. It looked beautiful on the grounds of Salamander. They need more outside seating. Not sure why they looked at me like I was crazy for not squeezing into a booth with 7 people… ITS COVID… anyway after demanding to talk with the manager she was very nice and accommodating and sat us outside. Great experience. Harriman’s needs to do waaayyy better with social distancing and being COVID cautious. Chef was amazing and wait staff were just perfect!!!!
Unfortunately, I found the flavors of my breakfast choice to have been prosaic.
Food and service was excellent. I little overpriced but but still worth it.
Food is quite good but not vegetarian-friendly, as only one entree and a few sides/starters. Service was excellent.
The steak was really well done. Portion sizes are on the smaller side so order accordingly and the wine selection is stellar.
The inventive food is the star of the show in this beautifully designed and spacious dining room overlooks an expansive view out to the manicured grounds.
Service was superb a d the food was fantastic.
To our surprise, when we arrived at Harrimans Virginia Piedmont Grill, we were given a limited menu completely different from what is posted on-line. We were told, starting that night, for a week, they had a 'guest chef' (from Jamaica).
After the initial shock, and several questions about menu items, we selected dishes we were willing to try, only to discover they were not available. So many dishes were not available, they ended up re-printing our menus (with even less choices).
When we asked if we could get items from the bar (next door) menu, we were told we would need to be re-seated (if possible). (I guess their wait staff can't walk down the hall.)
Now, as Jamaican food goes, what we ended up with was tasty. But, that's not the point. When selecting our evening out, we did not choose to go to Harrimans Jamaican Grill, we choose to go to to Harrimans Virginia Piedmont Grill.
Adding some Jamaican dishes to the menu would have been fine. But whoever decided to completely replace the menu with just a few (some odd) Jamaican dished should be fired.
So, when considering Harrimans, make sure you call to find out what their name happens to be in advance!
Harrimans is generally very consistent fine dining. This visit did not at all meet our expectations. It took 25 minutes for a second round of drinks to come from the bar (no one provided a status update). It was family style with 3 separate courses. The second course, the hot food, came out very late and it was cold. We had it send all of it back so we could have at least warm food. Event the bottom of the salt shaker was missing and nobody noticed. The manager did visit and did comp our meals so that was trying to make it right. However it did turn a special occasion into a not special experience. Will try again because this was unusual for them.
My friend and I went for Sunday brunch. The brunch is a fixed menu served family style. There was definitely more food than two people could eat! The chef was kind enough to substitute mixed vegetables for the meat dishes. The service was amazing… Earl was very friendly. Overall, the experience was wonderful!
Wonderful dinner. Outstanding recommendation from the Sommelier!
Wonderful dining experience last night. Best steak I’ve ever had and the risotto side dish was perfect!
Outstanding! The best dinner I have had in years! Food was delicious and presentation was beautiful! Service and atmosphere was perfect! Harriman’s is worth every penny! Memorable!!
Brunch was served cold Coffee was just warm not hot
Great waitstaff! The food was prepared and delivered at the table in a reasonable amount of time.
Claudia is always wonderful
Very great brunch! Can’t wait to go back.
My wife and I decided to return here for a joint birthday celebration. Food, service, atmosphere all were first rate. We'll be back!
Beautiful venue, GREAT service and great food. Will definitely visit again when in the area.
A disappointing experience. We had previously dined at this restaurant pre-Covid and it was truly magical in every way. This time around, the ambience and service was equally as spectacular, but the food presentation was sub par. The portions were also small, and therefore overpriced. The $195 surf and turf was sloppily plated and definitely not worth the price tag.
Pros: Great service from server, hostesses and sommelier. Beautiful ambience. Delicious cocktails. Desserts were very tasty and well portioned.
Cons: Small appetizer and entree portions, pricey entrees, poor food plating and presentation.
Food perfectly prepared. Biscuits ahhmazing. This place never misses. Great experience.
Great venue, meal and experience. Would certainly go again……..but can’t afford to go often.
The brunch at $75 per person is extremely expensive! The service was excellent, but they were not good about food allergies. They noted I had but allergies, but should have flagged different foods that I couldn’t eat. I had to ask which item had nuts every time and keep the menu out. For example- the dessert tray came and the Nutella tarts were mixed with everything else. Made for a risky experience.
We were at Salamander to celebrate my moms milestone birthday. Ate at Harriman’s our first night and then came back for breakfast the next day. Everything was lovey. Excellent service, perfect relaxing atmosphere to enjoy al fresco dining to the fullest.
Despite all wanting to watch our figures, we each cleaned our plates every meal. The only thing they should do differently is bottle up and sell that delicious hot sauce! After tasting it, we were enamored and couldn’t wait to put it on everything we touched. Incredibly flavorful with just a touch of heat.
We ended the evening with a complimentary dessert to celebrate my mom’s bday and then were given delicious truffles to end the night.
Maybe one of the best meals we ever had. The quality of the food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We look forward to coming back as soon as we can.
The meal was disappointing we were looking forward to a wonderful eating experience but were let down. The service staff was excellent. The location was amazing only wish the food was better, especially for the price paid.
Outstanding food and service!
A family reunion and everyone was happy with the food, excellent wine and excellent service.
I have been to Harriman’s many times but this last experience was less than satisfying. The service was extremely slow and not very attentive/lacking focus which hasn’t been my experience in past. Also, the food was good but extremely overpriced for what it was. It seems to have gotten more expensive in recent years. The sommelier was lovely and had great recommendation, which basically saved the day.
Second time dining this summer. This time not as good as last. Went for brunch. Tried the frittata as a healthy option this time. It looked more like a salad upon arrival entirely too much arugula. The taste was bland . Ordered a side biscuit , last time very scrumptious this time overcooked. Hubby’s crab omelet was overstuffed with peppers more than crab meat. The side potatoes were over cooked with tough skin. The service was slow not like our previous visit. It’s a hefty price for less than perfect. The view was as always a compensation. Let’s hope things get more consistent.
Superior service from Patrick and Ian. Lamb was a tad undercooked and still enjoyable
Super nice restaurant for special occasions. When we went for dinner, my wife's scallops were very cold. When we went for breakfast, my Strawberry Shortcake French Toast was pretty disappointing. Sometimes trying to make things more fancy backfires and gives you a lesser experience. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the wait staff are very caring. They seemed a bit stretched though which led to service being slow at times. I'd go back but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
We visited Harriman's on a Wednesday evening. We were warmly greeted and seated with a nice view of the fields and mountain range in the distance. The food was excellent. We had a vegan eater and they were very attentive to tailoring menu items to meet that need. It was quiet and peaceful. Very attentive service. Biggest complaint - tried to contact the restaurant about reservations never was able to speak to a real person. Put into a hold system multiple times nobody came on. Unexpected for such a fine dining experience. Highly recommend.
The food was excellent. It was a wonderful experience.
We enjoyed an early dinner, which I recommend as the service was flawless. The chef created a wonderful fig, buttermilk foam and mushroom starter dish that was heaven. Food never disappoints here!
