Harrimans Virginia Piedmont Grill Ratings and Reviews
We drove out here for Valentine's day. Was a beautiful place. It was a special five course meal with great wine pairings. The presentation and creativity of each course was different, but delicious. The service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this place for your special occasion, but would recommend ordering off the main menu, if the this am option.
I ordered a bone-in fillet. The meat quality was not good at all; the filet was very tough. I also asked for A1 sauce, which came after waiting over 30 minutes. I decided to try to eat the filet as it was, as there weren’t many side choices too.
Also, it would be great if you have more organic choices; in an establishment like that, organic is a must. Additionally, I wanted to order another cocktail with my dinner too. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to as the waiter didn’t bother to come back to the table in a timely manner.
We had our annual family Holiday brunch in Middleburg at Harrimans Va Piedmont Grill. Harriman’s has a great atmosphere and solid brunch menu. The food was good and would have been better if it were actually warm/hot. Our server was either new, not trained properly or didn’t care. He immediately asked for our food order before taking our drink order. We needed to ask him for everything and we felt rushed to complete our brunch and leave. We will definitely look for a new brunch venue next year.
I didn't have overly high expectations but given the $115 cost of the chef's menu, I have to rate the experience and food very poorly. While two of the courses were good, some were just plain below average. The scallops, cheese course and carrots needed some work. For the cost and attempted reputation, overall a very disappointing food experience. Also, I paid $45 for the wine pairings. This was a huge miss. Not only did they pour half the wines after I finished the course, but the pairings were often shockingly bad. Lastly, while I've usually found the pastry chef here to be fantastic, last night's dessert was truly awful. It was this burnt gelatinous fennel tasting mess. No discount was offered given the terrible wine service. Overall, this place needs help.
This restaurant obviously aspires to 5 diamond rating
The menu is creative. Many wonderful options
The service was slightly overbearing
My criticisms are minor but annoying considering the price and somewhat pretentious service
My Proseco was served too warm and the cheese too cold
I complained about the cheese and was told”that’s how we serve it” as if I needed to be corrected
I asked how the chutney was made , as I am very allergic to mangos. An answer was promised but never delivered
Good food but needs some rough spots smoothed out
Harriman's is a high end restaurant as far as cost is concerned. My party of 4 ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert. We had the caesar brussel sprouts which were very good and 2 orders of the burrata toast which was very bland. Our entrees consisted of a cod which was bland also, a seafood medley that was very good especially the shrimp and a asian spiced steak that was very spicy. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate / Pumpkin Cake which was good, the apple cranberry cobbler which was under cooked and the ice cream trio that was good also. Overall we all expected a better meal /experience at this restaurant. The service was good, but a little disorganized, at a restaurant like this entrees should all be served at the same time and the table should be cleared when everyone is finished. That wasn't what occurred in either case.
From the second we sat down at our table with a wonderful view we were inundated with fruit flies. Not just one here and there, but tons of them swarming us. As I swatted them away thankfully our server noticed and insisted we move to another table which we happily did and yes there still were fruit flies, but not as many. We did see a server put a dish of something at the base of the decorative trees perhaps to attract them? But I have to say I have never been to a high end restaurant where there was an infestation of bugs. And after reading reviews online others have reported the same issue...that’s NOT ok!!! Time to call in pest control people.
OK, so now we are at our new table and order our food and wine and request gluten free bread and the waitress is so happy that they can accommodate our request except that she forgets and never brings it.
Then we order a NICE bottle of wine and the sommelier comes to our table and says they don’t have our requested bottle but recommends two other similar ones. OK, we went with one of her requests and it was wonderful!
The service was horrendous as we never saw our waitress again once we placed our order and had to pour our own wine for the remainder of our meal!! I could have done this in my own dining room had we chosen to celebrate our anniversary at home. Nothing special about this place for the price that you pay. We were looking for a special night out...not waitresses wearing jeans with poor service. Salamander you better get your act together!
Took my wife and a friend of ours out for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. Very nearly a perfect evening. The service was excellent, Anna H, our server, was wonderful. The cocktails and wines were excellent, priced fairly for the pour and the quality. The food was wonderful. The only minor issue, mentioned in couple of other reviews, was the attention paid us by fruit flies and a few of the ordinary house variety. I'd still recommend it highly for special occasions or a quiet business dinner.
Our waitress and the entire wait staff was Wonderful!. My husband loved his steak but I have a very expensive! Lobster tail that was so over cooked it was rubbery. My fault for not saying something but it was my husband’s birthday and I didn’t want to make a fuss. Also, next time I’d request better seating. We were in the back next to the kitchen, this missing the views that Middleburg is so famous for. Salad and desserts were great!
We try to come for brunch about every 6 months, well worth the drive from Arlington. A bit pricey but the food and ambiance are first class. We've noticed that sometimes the champagne drinks seem to take longer than anticipated but not enough to be a big distraction. To also enjoy the beautiful views best to make a reservation.
My husband and I were celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. Although the food was excellent, we encountered challenges with having to swat flies while attempting to eat our meals. The setting was beautiful, the service was excellent, and the waitress was very knowledge and helpful; however we did not realize the dress attire was so casual for such an upscale restaurant. Overall we had a great time and happy we celebrated our anniversary at your restaurant. Thank you!
Considering the prices at Harrimans, I expected a lot better. My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and wanted a special place to enjoy dinner together and I thought this place was it. It was not. The food was mediocre at best and the service was subpar. We waited at least 15 minutes before someone came over and greeted us once we were seated. The server suggested an item that we chose not to go with and she seemed disappointed (almost angry) that we opted not to go with her suggestion. When we ordered an appetizer and our meal the timing between the two was unacceptable, we had to ask for bread and for another drink. When I made the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, to which I said yes. Aside from the hostess (who was very nice), there was no acknowledgement of our special occasion. I suspect that we will not be returning to Harrimans anytime soon.
