Harrimans Virginia Piedmont Grill
Nice atmosphere, beautiful location. Cooked food was invariably cold. Limited veggies and salad choices. Obviously understaffed. Need better training for the personnel.
Went for Saturday brunch. My cappachino was steamed milk w a couple drops of espresso at best - I cannot imagine how it was possibly sent to our table as it was - a cup of steamed milk. Had to send it back and our server (who was wonderful) was appropriately apologetic. Next discovered a hair in my monkey bread. I was too embarrassed at this point to tell our server. Next came entre - inedible. Ham was very dry, too salty and too smoked - horrible flavor and chalky texture. Again, didn’t have heart to tell server as all was just a disaster, and didn’t want to make my guest uncomfortable. Would have had a much better breakfast at Bobs Big Boy were it not for a classy, fabulous server and pretty ambiance. My out of town guest said all was delicious on her side of the table. Hope she wasn’t just being polite.
As usual. Anna was amazing. Food was amazing. Will definitely be coming back
Food was a little pricey, but the service was excellent. Crab appetizer was a little overcooked (dry) and the cornbread would have been better without either the jalapeno or the nuts. The chef needs to choose one or the other for the cornbread as it overpowers the flavor for additional foods being ordered through out the meal.
The wait staff was very good to us. The food was excellent. Appreciated the dessert commemoration of our anniversary very much
We brought our Mother here for her birthday...we have been several times before as we live close by...The resort is elegant and the setting is bucolic. That’s the good news...we had the breakfast buffet and had reservations for 1145am. The hostess and staff at the reception area were extremely nice and accommodating however the service from the waitstaff was horrendous...long wait for water and coffee and sat with our dirty plates for way too long. Now for the food review..our expectations were high but come on...stale waffles that I had to cut with a knife ? Pancakes that were old and inedible. Bacon that was more like I imagine beef jerky is like to chew. The chicken biscuits and potatoes were good....just good. Such a disappointment. Almost $200 for the three of us that could have been better spent.
Fantastic meal, with a polite and attentive staff.
Lovely setting, beautiful view. There was very attentive service with a creative menu. Wish the tables were smaller, as we felt so far away from our friends, conversation the huge round table. We hope the menu changes more throughout the year as we live in the area
Outstanding food and service. The food was incredibly delicious and the service was exceptionally fantastic. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious and the service was better, friendly and accommodating.
Terry provided outstanding service. The pacing for the courses was perfect. It was a great opportunity to get a sense of the quality of the Harriman's menu.
Excellent ambiance. Very casual.
Everything was excellent. They have really stepped it up with both food and service. I was impressed and will visit more frequently based off this experience.
Celebrating our Anniversary with our daughter before she moves out of state. Our waitress was absolutely Wonderful, the food delicious and the portions were great! It was a very good night !!!
A truly amazing experience! Every view from the architectural beauty is fabulous. Our server suggested some wonderful options and following our selection, he treated us to a memorable occasion. The chef and his team delivered according to their reputations, our dishes were nothing short of mouth watering. Thank you for creating such a spectacular time celebrating my wife’s birthday.
The food was fantastic! Definitely pricey but worth it!
The Chef was very accommodating to make non meat choices. Our server, Sally, was the best. The wine recommendations by the Sommelier were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the six course dinner with the wine pairings. Particularly liked that the meal was not rushed. We had time to enjoy each course.
Never had Sunday brunch there so gave it a try. Buffett not worth $50. Omelet mediocre, snow crabs VERY salty, pastry mushy, not much selections.
My pork was under cooked loaded with fat and my wife’s salmon was loaded with bones!! Both did not eat any of it and they only comped us a glass of wine!!
Fantastic in every way!
We visited Harriman’s for an early celebration of our anniversary. Everything was spectacular!
Wonderful food and outstanding service. Every course was better than the next. The rainbow carrots in ginger sauce was amazing! Very enjoyable. Great atmosphere.
The restaurant was so loud and the acoustics so poor that we could hear the conversations of others bouncing off the walls but not hear each other. We pId $50 or so per entree (though you can order for less) to sit listening to other people. At one point a woman even yelled “Are you f$&ing kidding me.” Our child was there and better behaved than that person. It made for a stressed evening because any time I wanted to communicate to my family they thought I was yelling at them. Also, we aren’t older with hearing problems. We are well under 50.
Fix the acoustics, insist on proper behavior by patrons, or expect that people will not return.
The overall service was impeccable but the food left a lot to be desired. Had a rough time with the Kansas NY Strip steak, was lacking all around in quality of meat and taste. Once brought to the attention of the Manager, she promptly removed it from the bill. Also had breakfast there one morning and for the price I really wasn't impressed. Expected a lot more from a resort as prestigious as the Salamander.
Food and service great. Environment was good. The only negative were the flies everywhere. I couldn't enjoy food trying to keep the flies away.
First time at Piedmont Grill. Waitress recommended their 10 course menu. Sure why not. It was our anniversary.
Yikes! No meal! None! Is worth $600 (including tip).....no price was given on the menu. If I ever have a memory lapse and go here again....I sure hope I can remember to ask prices first.
P.S....unless you like "sweet and sour" everything...which is what it all tasted like...and I don't care for...skip regardless....the "tastings" were hardly palatable....only the steak was any good
Service poor - buffett closed prior to closing time - some items simply ran out
The food was awesome and the ambiance was just right. Awesome place for an anniversary or special occasion.
The service was superb and the quality was foodie quality and the ambience was most impressive!
What an amazing way to celebrate! We tried their six course tasting menu with the added wine pairing option. Although a bit pricey the food was amazing and more than enough and the wines were artfully paired to bring out their unique flavors. The service was absolutely flawless as well. The property is quite beautiful and I would recommend arriving early to stroll the grounds or have a drink in the Gold Cup before dinner. We will definitely be returning!
This was a special brunch event for my wife's birthday. Everything was great except for the irritating flies. This did take a away from the ambiance.
We dined there last Saturday for our anniversary and each chose the small tasting menu. For the price of the tasting menu, the food did not meet expectations. Primarily, the portions were very small (so small that we ordered a separate entree to share after the 2nd to last course), the overall seasoning to the food was not varied and primarily sweet. The dessert was delicious and our servers were very attentive.
In particular for the tasting menu, the squab portion size was extremely small and very underdone. We have dined at a number of fine dining restaurants and were not expecting the same quality of food but something decent and were definitely disappointed, especially considering that it was almost $500 including two cocktails, wine paring and tip. The cocktails were delicious and the wine pairing went well.
And varied Amneh
Good service and very nice place lace, and good food
Great food and and awesome venue. The bone in Filet was a nice touch and we loved the bread ;)
Daniel, our server, was great. Appetizers were great! Entree’s were pretty good. Dessert was kind of underwhelming. There was a screaming toddler the entire time we were there that was annoying as hell. Birthday group of 10-12 who looked like this was Ruby Tuesday’s to them. Our meal was $230 + tip. You are treated very well here. The 350 acre property is beautiful. Crab cake was amazing. Meat entrees were flavorful and nice sized. Blueberry tart was dry and the signature cake tasted like ingredients were missing (very bland) and like it had been made days ago and stored in the fridge. That part was disappointing. It was a great chance to eat at a top of the line restaurant as we don’t get to do this often. Maybe 1x a year, if that. The kid screaming was the worst part. They got seated just before us so it lasted the entire meal. Never once took the kid outside. Just kept telling him “Shhh”. Obviously that didn’t work as he didn’t stop. Everyone made faces but nobody said anything. Again, disappointing. Ambience ruined. Service is on point and they make you feel special. Our server was great, knew everything about the menu you could want to know and had a good sense of humor and knowledge about the property. We likely won’t come back, but it was fun to eat here once.
We had dinner at Harrimans and chose to order several small plates in lieu of an entree. The vegetables came first and I am so glad that they did because the dishes were outstanding. The roasted beets with pistachio yogurt could have been my dessert--it was that GOOD! The roasted rainbow carrots and brussels sprouts Caesar were also delicious. The fois gras was one of the best I have ever had--a mini loaf of toasted brioche topped with a berry compote and then the sautéed fois gras--outstanding. Also incredible were the sweetbreads! They were fried with lemon "chips" and lemon aioli--fantastic. The scallops were amazing--the tops were puffed and brown and yet in no way overcooked! You have to save room for dessert because their gluten free chocolate cake is to die for!! A creamy dense chocolate cake with a hint of cayenne topped with a huge mound of meringue which is then torched to perfection!! A perfect ending!
Anna was a wonderful server. The food was amazing.
It was awesome
The meal was amazing .. they just need to work on matching the level of service to the price point.
