We’ve been to Harrigans before, enjoyed it before, and came back. The food was very good. It’s not your typical hotel restaurant. The menu reflects creativity. The preparation is excellent. The quality is excellent. This time they had a piano player during dinner. She was perfect and enhanced the experience. Two downs: our waiter moved way to slow but fortunately we were not in a hurry; and, Johnston continues its unfortunate descent to irrelevance.
Review of Easter Buffet: many choices for all courses, everything I selected was delicious. The vegetable variety was superb. Presentation was very appealing. Temperatures were good except for soup which was lukewarm. Seating was prompt with reservation; they have it down to a science how much time is needed between reservations. This buffet has become our Easter tradition.
Harrigan's never disappoints! The food is incredible and the atmosphere is wonderful. Brunch is always extra good!
We waited until 1130am for a buffet that was supposed to start at 11. Our waitress barely acknowledged our existence and we sat for 30 minutes before even getting water. The food was really good tho and once the buffet was set up it was very nice. I fully enjoyed the food, but for 3 people, a bill over 130$ after ordering drinks etc, I had hoped for better service. I ordered soda when we first saw our waitress and it came as we were paying our bill.... for the price we paid, I would recommend something else, like the backdoor.
New waitress, very nice but inexperienced resulting in a few gaps with our service. Quality of food was fine.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a lovely dinner at Harrigan's. Our server, Jason, gave us excellent service and the food was delicious. We highly recommend the lamb chops as well as the veal, both of which were cooked to perfection. Harrigan's will definitely be a choice for us for future outings and special occasions.
I have typically been happy with my experiences at Harrigan's. This did not prove to be a good experience as one of our diners bit into a foreign object that was in his Ceasar Salad with Shrimp. It was so hard that he thought he broke his tooth. The waitress could not have handled it any better and the manager took the meal off our bill but it still took away from the total experience and caused him to lose his appetite.
Went there for Easter dinner and decided to go back for Mother's Day because the food was so delicious and they had such a nice assortment of foods for everyone. We were somewhat disappointed with the Mother's Day fare - not as much of a selection in the salad or main entrees. The carved meat (only one available) was tough and had a lot of gristle, something I wouldn't not have expected and very disappointing. The restocking of the foods at the buffet was very slow and many servers were empty at times. After making the reservation on line, I called to see if a seat was available in the upper level of the cafe. They said they had none available for the 12:30 time I requested. I also asked them once I arrived if they could accommodate my request, they could not. In the time that we were seated, which was 2 1/2 hours, there were tables available and never seated! After having such a good experience the first time I was very disappointed that there was no continuity. The staff seemed a little irritated and not eager to assist. I will think long and hard before driving 2 hours to Johnstown for a mystery meal.
Pleasantly surprised. We were very happy with everything.
I've always avoided hotel restaurants. The food is typically a salty, sauce covered variant of something that sounds familiar but rarely comes close. Not so at Harrigan's.
The food was remarkably good. I ordered the turtle soup. Very good but not great as it was "missing" something. Both our dinners came with salad. Every salad ingredient fresh, especially the tomatoes. Beware of the house dressing. While it is very good, it also has a creeping heat. I loved it. My wife darn near died when she tasted it. She ordered the crab cakes. They well large and perfectly browned. She enjoyed them. I ordered the Veal Roulade. Very creative dish with tremendous depth.
Finally, our server, Mary Jo was remarkable. A sweet personality that knew how to serve a meal.
The Easter Brunch was quite spectacular in a setting that was perfect for a family dinner. The buffet contained many options for everyone's tastes, even those with food allergies.
Went there for Easter brunch and the food was amazing! The chef did a fine job in executing the selection of foods as well as the preparation- from salads, fruits, cheeses and main entrees. They also had a large selection of desserts. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. It was a gold mine in the middle of Johnstown. Still talking about the unique foods served. All enjoyed.
Had Easter brunch and my husband and I were quite disappointed. Food looked good and well seasoned but a lot of items had no flavor. Vegetables, asparagus soup, mashed potatoes were cold. Leg of lamb was tough and quite hard to cut with a butter knife. Wide variety but not impressed with temperature and flavoring of food. Dessert was about the best. Left there feeling very disappointed and probably will not return for a meal.
Though located in a Holiday Inn Harrigan's Cafe is very tastefully decorated and does not resemble your usual HI restaurant. Live piano greets you as you enter, pianist was very accomplished with a very wide choice of soothing dinner music. Service was very prompt and friendly and knowable. Food both fish and beef was excellent as was the great wine list. All in all a very pleasant evening.
Consistently great food and outstanding service. One of my favorite places for a lunch with friends or dinner to celebrate a special occasion!
Very good wine list. Italian and California wines predominate but French, Spanish, Greek and other regional wines are available; some expensive but others moderately priced. We stuck with the Pinot Noir because of our dinner selections and tried the Talbots Kali Hart 2014 for $59, which we enjoyed. Served at the right temperature, too. Another good standby is the MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir for $44 /bottle , but also served by the glass. We had the Salmon and Crab Cake entrees. My husband really liked his salmon dinner, a favorite of his. In line with my special diet, I sent a request for gluten free crab cakes and the chef accommodated me. Very filling--ate one and took the other one home. Musical entertainment through Happy Hour was outstanding!Jill Gontkovic has an amazing voice. Other family members were there to sing and they were very good too. If you want a quieter meal you can request a table farther away but you really don't want to miss Jill's singing.
Excellent Sunday Brunch!!!!! Would Highly recommend
MY FAMILY CAME IN FOR A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION...THEY LOVED THE FOOD, THEY LOVED THE ROOM AND THEY ESPECIALLY ENJOYED FRANKIE F AND JOHN P. THESE YOUNG MEN LIVE IN DC AND DINE IN SOME VERY NICE RESTAURANTS, INCLUDING THE FOUR SEASONS. THE LAST THING THEY SAID WAS, " THIS IS A WONDERFUL PLACE" THANKS FOR HELPING TO MAKE IT A WONDERFUL NIGHT! Nancy
The restaurant was beautifully and tastefully decorated for Christmas, the food was delicious, and the piano music added to the holiday atmosphere . It was a lovely venue for a special occasion, like Christmas Eve with the family. We enjoyed getting to try so many different dishes from the buffet. And we will recommend your buffets to others for special occasions.
We were seated right on time at a nice window table. Food and service was fine.
Awesome Brunch for Octoberfest! Would highly recommend Harrigan's Sunday Brunch!
Hotel restaurants generally are not the best. This holds true for Harrigan's. My tuna steak was thin and over cooked. The asparagus orzo had no flavor! The chopped zucchini was overcooked and served with too much oil - again, no flavor! My dining companion enjoyed the bacon dressing.
This wasn't my first time at Harrigan's I work downtown and go there often. I went this time for a business meeting and they asked if I wanted a more private section for that reason. They were able to seat me somewhere private and delivered a great meal to my associate and I. Their food is alway consistant, which is nice when you're craving something.
Enjoyed a delicious lunch on Sunday with sandwiches and fries. Our waiter was very professional and provided a pleasant experience. The club sandwich and fish tacos were quite yummy and we will return, based on this visit.
This was our first time and it was perfect. The services was terrific & the food was delicious, from the appetizers to dessert. I want to go back just to try more items from the menu !
Our family of four came here for Mother's Day brunch. We were one of the first reservations of the day and it wasn't very busy yet but it took 10 minutes for our waitress (Qu*A) to bother coming around and take our drink orders. In those 10 minutes we watched the other tables and their wait staff, no one else seemed to have a problem, of course none of the other tables had the same waitress. She was friendly and smiled nice but never told us to help ourselves or where the buffet was set up, as it was put in a separate banquet room. We had to go to ask the hostess where we needed to go to get our food. Our meal was delicious, the Pork Oscar was probably our favorite, everything seemed fresh and hot and there was a large selection of desserts, equally delicious. When we needed drink refills it took at least 10 minutes for her to notice and another 5-10 to return with drinks. We were given the bill, waited almost 10 minutes for her to take it and then continued to wait... and wait. Finally the hostess came over and brought the bill, we had been watching her looking for the waitress so I feel she could see there was an issue that day as well. Not sure if our waitress was just having a bad day or what the problem was but her lack of service brought down this review from 5 to 3 stars. I'm actually glad Open Table asked for a review, we were two minutes away from leaving when we finally got waited on and I wasn't comfortable making a big deal of it while we were there, I just wanted to have a stress free meal with my husband and children.
My family and I were completely impressed with Harrigan's Easter Buffet. Seating was quick, well organized, and with plenty of room between tables. The Wait Staff was very efficient and polite - appearing just when they were needed and not being overbearing. The food was plentiful, well prepared, and presented in a delightful manner. Something for everyone's taste. The variety of main dishes and desserts was awesome! Thank you for a wonderful experience for these first time visitors from out of town. You made a great impression for your establishment and for the city of Johnstown.
Even though we missed the main entertainment twice this restaurant still provides a pianist which played an array of music from Vagas to current pop type. The service is the best in Johnstown in my opinion. It is almost as if they were reading my mind... before I could ask the drink was refilled, the plate taken away, the next course brought. The staff is very professional and keep an attentive eye to their assigned table as well as several of the staff complimented my wife on the flowers I had bought and had delivered to the table which I thought was very thoughtful and wnet the extra mile.
I thought to myself am I being over exuberant in my start ratings as they are all 5 stars? Honestly with regards to each category I could not rate this establishment with a lesser rating. Which makes perfect sense. There are a lot of good restaurants in Johnstown with regard to food. This restaurant not only has a professional Chef and great food it has all the other components of a five star restaurant. It is a real treat for my wife and I to come to Harrigan's in Johnstown it's a few dollars more but worth every last penny.
I got the buffet which was seafood: shrimp & scallop Alfredo was amazing & phenomenal clan chowder. Great salad & rolls too. The BF got a burger that looked perfect. Waitress was attentive & friendly. Will Def be back
It is fine but in the long description written here on Open Table they FAIL to mention it is located in a Holiday Inn. It is a fine restaurant but not where you want to go for a holiday meal.
For the past several years, my husband & I have eaten both Thanksgiving & Christmas brunch here.
It always feels welcoming with good food, atmosphere, & service. The past few times we have been lucky enough to have David as our server. In fact, we requested him for this occasion. He is a great person.
Our first brunch at Harrigan's and wasn't anticipating anything great. The salads were nicely prepared and the buffet could have been hotter in temperature. The flavors were quite nice and our 2nd trip through the buffet, the food was warmer and tasted better. They offer an outstanding wine list. We'll likely return next year for Christmas.
Service was quick and friendly. Appetizers were wonderful - 3 prawns were large and fresh. Hummus and flatbread was remark-out-loud delicious. Entrees: seafood scampi was excellent but notably bland. Veal piccata was exceedingly bland and mostly pasta+artichoke, most was left on the plate, would not order it again. Dessert was heavenly - choc. mousse cake. Music would have been nice - we could hear everything anyone in the restaurant said that night and it was a bit uncomfortable. Service was a saving grace, waitress was wonderful, though I would have preferred the silverware be replaced rather than put back on the table between courses. Price was reasonable. We will likely go again.
Disappointed t wine deck in the name did not mean there is a deck. Service was fairly good, perhaps inexperience and hurried to leave for the evening may ha
My fiance and I were looking for a nice and romantic restaurant that had great food. Although the environment and the setting was quite nice, the food that I had ordered, which was the Langostino Risotto, was incredibly plain and had absolutely no taste. We had a very nice waiter who cared about how our food was but he took quite a bit of time getting back to the table. We enjoyed the environment and staff, but the food just could have been a lot better.
Food was very good. Service lacking. Piano player was fantastic.
It was really nice I had a great time I just wish it was more of a selection of food but the desserts were excellent!
Had dinner at Harrigan's Friday april 25th. everything was perfect from pre-dinner drinks to dinner to service. Fantastic wine choices, too!
Overall the dining experience was pleasant. There was a nice variety of food and the quality was very good. The only downside was the food (soup, entrees, vegetables) was not hot. The desserts were outstanding -- I had the tiramisu. The service was very friendly and attentive -- five stars. So, the only thing that kept this from being an overall five star review was the temperature of the food. Very nice ambiance
We had a lovely evening at Harrigans. Our server Blake did an outstanding job with a table of eight. He was pleasant, professional and efficient! The food was up and down. The beet salad, wedge salad, mushroom soup and Cobb Salads, were excellent, overall appetizers very good. Entrees ranked as follows: Trout was a hit, Chicken Cordon Bleu was a hit! Veal Scallopini and the Halibut were losers. The veal was served in a watery bland liquid over linguine, the veal was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The Halibut was very overcooked and dry and the spices applied for blackening were too heavy. Overall, we had a nice evening, and a special thanks to Blake and the other servers, excellent job!
