Nice place, decent food
I took my family there for brunch/lunch on a Sunday and a few of us ordered the champagne with orange juice on the side. Unfortunately the oj didn't taste right. It actually kind of smelled a little like something rancid ( how old oil can smell when it's old) . We told the server and she brought us new orange juice but it still had a funny smell so we just had the champagne which was very good! I'll be back because the location is nice and the food was good.
Went for a casual dinner for my son's birthday with family.
Food was good, service was fast and helpful. Will definitely come again
Harpoon Henry's is in our Top 3 Sunday Brunch choices.
The staff is very pleasant and accommodates our needs.
Great view from the upstairs (we still haven't had a chance to sit in the new lower level)
My favorite meal is the Mahi Mahi and Chicken tacos.
Delightful dining experience! Great, fresh salads and fish, nice wine list and ambiance, excellent service! All with stunning, marina sunset views! AND quiet in spite of the busy, jovial atmosphere!
Enjoyed the food but poor service. Waited 15 minutes to get someone to our table and get water. Food was good, but service needs help.
Had very good service and the food was very good but what stood out the most was the outstanding job the Manager, Adam, did to accommodate us in what seemed to be a mixed up in the number of persons on the reservation. So, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the Manager, Adam, for keeping calm and cool, and worked it out to sit our entire party together.
Good service and nice view.
Awesome family time
Wonderful location right on the water. Great service. Food was excelleant
The food and service was amazing will come back again
We were actually pleasantly surprised... Sawyer was our server and he was excellent - promised husband swordfish wouldn't be overcooked - and he delivered on that. We all enjoyed our meals - brought the birthday guy a big slice of mud pie with a candle. No complaints - and we will add this restaurant to our list of local places we frequent.
As always, the Tuna Stack is to die for! Always my favorite.
Absolutely the best fish & chips I have had in a long, long time-Fresh! fresh! Fresh!!!
Our waitress, Kendall, was excellent & so appreciate that she waited our table today. We'll be back-ABSOLUTELY!!!
truly outstanding--from the atmosphere to the quality of food and service
Coconut shrimp was excellent and plentiful. My wife’s salmon was very good. Clam chowder was a bit heavy and pasty. After dinner coffee wasn’t hot.
Pleasant staff and good main entree’s. We were the last diners when we finished at 9:30pm on a Friday night..,,,
We were staying in the area and that we adventure to this restaurant that we haven’t been to yet
Very Good Food. Brought friends from the Mid West. They were very pleased with the food.
Food was not quite as good as on earlier visits. One diner’s food was cool when served. Overall experience was fair but no longer outstanding.
Nice quiet atmosphere. Food is always good especially the clam chowder.
Always enjoyable. We try to met friends here often never disappointed.
A very great place for lunch.
I used online reservation and it worked fine. There was a rather large crowd waiting in line for seating at a table in the bar area. But with my reservation I was seated immediately in the more formal dining area. That costs a little more but it is worth it.
Dinng room quiet, great views of harbor. Good service..
Hostess distracted when arrived - took awhile to greet. Seated us and left. Young man taking order was ok, but no clue about order of service or how to serve wine. Brought food almost instantly and it was halfway through before wine arrived. Same waiter tried to open bottle of wine for nearby table and so inexperienced he slipped and broke glass - not even enough common sense to clean up glass.
A bunch of young people just chatting and cutting up, not helping each other or training May have been shift change? Bar tender was non existent until his friends showed up,
Very poorly managed!
Good food, good service, beautiful view.
My family enjoyed a birthday celebration at Harpoon Henry’s. Most ate the fish & chips and loved it. Great Mai Tai’s & Margarita’s too.
The restaurant was very nice for a quiet conversational dining experience. However, the same cannot be said for the bar/happy hour area which is quite noisy. Food was good and our waiter was exceptional.
I love this restaurant. It's classy, not stuffy. The staff is friendly & very accommodating. Also love the harbor view & ambiance. We always celebrate birthdays, etc. here.
We've been at this restaurant a few times now and every time it doesn't feel like they have the air conditioner on. They are surrounded by windows with the sun coming in most of the day. Some of the shades on the windows don't pull down far enough to block the hot sun. It was quite warm in there.
I have been to Harpoon Henry ‘s numerous times. They used to serve outstanding sourdough bread and amazing white clam chowder (it is now gray and salty). The petite filet with soup was mediocre, at best. Sadly, we won’t be going back. The server was fine. The restaurant needs updating.
We arrived for our reservation on time to celebrate my husbands birthday. The hostess took us to our table and rudely informed us that we would only be allowed to stay for 90 minutes because they had other reservations coming in at that time. The food was overcooked, but cold. We opted to skip desert in order to vacate the table within the allotted time we were given. Our waiter was great, but other than that, we had a very poor experience and do not plan to ever return.
Fish/chips and shrimp/chips were excellent. What was odd was the need to request malt vinegar for the fish and cocktail sauce for the shrimp. Even lemon was not provided until requested. Really? At a place with seafood in its name? Lame.
Scott was our waiter and he was excellent...we did not get the name of the server but he moved a chair at the table in front of us before a big group came so our view of the boat parade would not be obstructed, what a nice gesture! The ciopinno and Atlantic salmon dishes were excellent; the chowder was good but a bit too salty.
Great place for daily dining or special occasion. Food is excellent!
Boat parade. Great experience.
Beautiful view on Dana Point Harbor.
We were there for the Christmas boat parade and the place was packed. The service was a little slow as a result, but the waitress was cheerful and pleasant. The food was Not spectacular but ok. It is worth overlooking quite a bit for the view
Went with a friend visiting from Colorado. Dinner was Sunday evening and the restaurant was moderately busy. We got a table along the back windows overlooking the harbor and people walking along the marina looking at the Harbor Christmas lights, which are spectacular this year (2017). The menu has a reasonable price range. We thought the Alaskan Halibut at $35 was a little pricey for the occasion, so we settled for another special, a nicely prepared Petrale sole filet (around $18). The server was very attentive and courteous, and each course was delivered shortly after ordering. The only strange thing was that while we arrived on time for our reservation, the reception desk was vacant for at least five minutes after we arrived; but not a big deal really, because we were not in a hurry.
They had a lounge act: OC Elvis and he was very entertaining and it was a lot of fun!
We arrived a few minutes before our reserved 6PM time. A waiter came, a short time after being seated and offered us drinks and took our dinner orders plus a bowl of soup as an appetizer. About 10 minutes later, another waiter came and said the first waiter went home sick, but he would take care of us and would check on our order. At about 6:30, I inquired about our soup order and was told our dinners and soup order never got placed so we reordered. We asked for and got bread to tide us over and when the soup and dinners finally arrived, they were very good. Our waiter then indicated our meal was on the house to make up for the delays. I appreciated the consideration and plan to return.
The owner is rude! Stands outside and talks on the phone.
Great food and ambience. Was seated next to the window and had a beautiful view of the Christmas lights. Great meal- had the seafood sampler. The scallops, coconut shrimp and macadamia crusted mahi mahi was amazing and I highly recommend!
