Harper's Restaurant - SouthPark Ratings and Reviews
We just moved to the charlotte area and choose harpers for a child free date night (a rare occasion for us) service was very good and we were seated and greeeted right away. Only improvement is that the menu could be slightly expanded. My husband and I both had a dish we enjoyed but a little more to choose from would be nice so that when we go back when have the option to choose another dish.
I brought out of town friends to Harper's on a Saturday evening. I unknowingly made the mistake of dining during Restaurant Week, where they were offering four courses for $35. My party of three opted to order a la carte (probably a mistake), rather than participate in the four courses. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer (one of their priciest appetizers). Disappointingly, some restaurants reduce the size of their portions during Restaurant Week -- this seemingly was the case with Harper's. I have never seen Ahi Tuna so small - there were five pieces the size of a nickel. I expect better of our tried and true Harper's, particularly if I'm ordering a la carte. That said, it was a lovely evening to eat outside and our server was kind and attentive.
Very nice meal beginning w/the splendidly tasty tuna appetizer (not sure, though, that for the amount of tuna, $13.00 on the normal menu is way high).
Thomas was a fine server...
Except that getting hot coffee and hot refills was sure a challenge.
Nice place for Queen's Feast.
don't get conned, you'll find a better meal at the mall food court. The featured *fillet* for $35 + $5 would better suit a cheese steak sandwich it was maybe 1 / 8 Inch thick raw on one flat end and overcooked on the other, horrible. Harper's is usually reliably good but this was a bad experience, felt like I got conned at 2017 Restaurant Week take your taste buds elsewhere
The food was generally good. Unfortunately, Harper's has made its Caesar dressing very bland. You used to know it had garlic and anchovies, but now it is indistinguishable from bottled Ranch dressing. In addition, the hot apple pie is now overbaked to the point of being burnt in a cast iron dish.
Mostly, the prices have become ridiculous. When we started going to Harper's many years ago, a filet mignon cost $18. It is now $30 and not worth it. And, when I asked my husband if I could share his cole slaw, our server offered to bring me my own. She didn't tell us we would be charged $6 for a small bowl of sliced cabbage!!!
On the positive side, Harper's still honors reservations, and the grilled salmon is excellent (only priced 50% higher than anywhere else).
Easter Sunday brunch at Harper's. Surprisingly there was no wait at 11:30 and when we left at 12:30/1:00 there still didn't seem to be much of a wait at all, if any. Food was delicious as always - I had the French toast with bacon and all of the other orders looked great as well.
The wife and I were out and about and it had been several years since I have been to a Harper's, as we live in Mooresville and the closest one to us is Southpark..which is a haul. Anyway, it was such a beautiful day, elected to sit on the patio, had a couple of cold beers and Salmon burger. Everything was good and service was great. Will go again the nest time we're in the "neighborhood".
Went to Harper's for lunch on a Saturday at 1pm and it wasn't the experience I was hoping. The French Fries for everyone in my party were over cooked and appeared to have been cooked in old oil. My steak was over cooked, not medium rare as I requested, more like well done. The appetizer we ordered, the cheese and spinach dip was not very good, chips were all crumbled and appeared to be from the bottom of the bag and the spinach dip was pretty bland. I most likely will not return in the future.
