I used to love Harpers. But now the menu has much less variety--mostly fish or foul. My booth's back was so unstable that every time the person behind me moved I shook. We actually left before ordering.
Went for our anniversary, nice ambience in the outdoor garden space. Service friendly but unobtrusive, food delicious (especially the duck, with perfect sides).
They were understaffed but food was delicious . Had to ask for bread and portion sizes on the salads and appetizers very small and barely able to share …
Delicious will be back again'
Servers were very nice as was the ambience. The food was average at best. Salad was over dressed, steak sandwich was ehh, steak had no flavor and the dish was not hot. Pasta dish was good, duck ragu was tasty. Wasn’t worth a second glass of wine tho.
Great food, pleasant service, able to sit outside in the back garden.
Overall great place and food.
Would be great if staff wears mask.
The food here is awesome — every single thing we ordered for brunch was excellent!
My experience at Harpers was wonderful: the food was thoughtfully prepared and presented, the service personable and attentive. We’ve eaten then many times and the quality of the experience is remarkably consistent. It’s why we keep going back!
Excellent ambiance and service - the interiors were beautiful and nice and we sat on the back patio which was lovely. I loved the seating and table options.
The food was just okay. I order fish out a lot and my cod was extremely hot, rubbery, and lacked flavor. My cocktail was the spicy margarita and again something I order frequently elsewhere and this was mediocre at best in both presentation and flavor. I really really wanted to love this restaurant.
My friend ordered fries with her meal and those were delicious!
Beautiful food and setting. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Great neighborhood find, especially rear courtyard. They should change up the menu seasonally.
I hope the poor service our party received last night is fleeting and is due in part to difficulty in finding wait staff. Last night, our party of 4 ordered drinks and appetizers - the appetizer came out in a flash - no drinks. The squash flower was a tad too oily. The waiter took our dinner order - the dinner came out as soon as the appetizer plates were removed - still no drinks. Drinks eventually arrived. We were in and out in 45 minutes. When paying the kind of money Harper's commands, we expect to be able to linger and savor our meal. We plan to wait a while before going back.
very busy night. wait staff forgot part of our order and we had to remind them to bring one main course
Great service and excellent food
We’ve eaten here at least a dozen times over the past few years. The food was flavorless, and the service was terrible.
Such a disappointment!
Don’t go on Tuesday night. They were out of everything and the service was poor. It’s usually better.
excellent food and service. Will return for sure.
Squash blossom was good but cod was bland.
I really liked the place. The food was great and offered original dishes. The decor and the patio are laid back, but unfortunately I found the service somehow to laid back, probably the only wrinkle to this experience. Nonetheless this will not dissuade me from eating there again
We ate outdoors. Husband and I both ordered the pappardelle with chanterelles. $24. A very skimpy portion. I don’t ever recall eating at a restaurant and both of us agreeing that the main course was really more like an appetizer. We split the fried squash blossoms to start. Again, for the $$, a little light on the squash blossoms. The food was very good, we just thought the portions were totally inadequate. One of our friends had the tagliatelle with bolognese sauce, and that looked like a perfectly adequate portion for a main course. Hence, our confusion.
The food and service was great!
The food and the place are outstanding. Our initial server seemed to lose track of us after we placed our order but a manager and other staff picked her up. Overall, really good food and a nice vibe.
Yesterday evening I made a reservation for two and couldn’t even attempt to enjoy anything because the service and treatment was horrible, demeaning, and disrespectful. This is not the first time I’ve been to your establishment so I was disturbed and embarrassed.
When I walked into your restaurant there was no hostess to greet me; I stood there for a few minutes before being seated. We were rushed to order drinks and when we weren’t ready yet it appears the waitress had an attitude. When she came back to take our drink orders we waited for several minutes and watched other customers get their drinks before us so we waited a little more…..no one ever said “just a few minutes more or your drinks will be right out” we just waited. By the way your bar was not busy!
The demeanor that we got is that we were not wanted or respected. For that I will never patronize your establishment again. In this climate of our world I hope that you change your way of thinking and respect and appreciate everyone who comes to your business regardless of race, religion, gender or creed.
Comfortable, with great food and service. Brunch food was well prepared and delicious. I had egg over mushroom toast. Will definitely be back to try dinner here. Casual and friendly atmosphere. Prices were reasonable.
Their patio in back is a lovely green oasis with pretty lights, food en point. The pork Milanese was crispy and delicious and we had a nice fresh salad with blue cheese and the risotto croquettes- absolutely fab. I would pass on the desserts - lemon tart and mango sherbet were disappointing.
Food was subpar; steak was tough, fish was bland, and the croquettes were dry. The deserts and burger were above average. Service took a long time. Overall, it was fine. But, there are better places to eat in the area.
The food was delicious, as always. There was only one server working, however, and it took one hour to get drinks (which we ordered 5 minutes after sitting down) and an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food. We were one of two parties outside, and I believe there were only two parties inside. The speed of service was horrible.
Delicious eclectic food & innovative cocktails - Lovely outdoor space, but indoor dining is a bit noisy- sound doesn’t absorb well- overall, a great restaurant with attentive service
Great place to meet friends, have some delicious cocktails and tasty eats. Service was attentive, patient and helpful. Have sat outdoors, but just returned to indoor seating and felt very comfortable at Harper’s. Nice place!
Such a shame, this used to be one of my favorite places in the area but kitchen has really gone downhill. Should have known when it was all but empty on a weekday evening after other places nearby were too full to seat us! Garden is charming and staff were kind and friendly if a bit harassed. Drinks were nice and cocktail menu thoughtful and balanced. The problem is with the food. A kale salad arrived with giant leaves, awkward to eat and dressing too sharp. Appetisers under-seasoned and dull. Trout entree was many days old and almost inedible, though roasted veg accompaniment tasty. Hamburger and desserts were ok. This place used to be a beacon of lovely farm-to-table cooking and must have suffered badly during COVID. Hope they can find a way to reset.
Local eating worth going out to enjoy!
Nice patio seating. Excellent wine.
Food was below average. Pate was not a piece it was a smear on a bad piece of bread the steak was tough even good flavored the oysters were tiny and not baked as advertised just a top of seasoned panko.
The only dish that was ok was the trout
Not an extensive menu for Farm to Table. Server could not tell us where the Chicken came from, but had to check with chef before reporting back.
Not a lot of food for the costs.
Wait staff was also check in person, she walked away from us and yelled across restaurant to ask us our name, having forgotten our name when we checked in with her to let her know we had a reservation.
The food is amazing and so are the drinks. You cannot go wrong with anything on the brunch menu. We sat outside and there was a lot of greenery. Felt like an oasis. The staff was very friendly and worked with us even though we came late for our reservation (first outing with baby!) Definitely recommend!
Great food! Right in the neighborhood!
Lovely outdoor backyard
Tables well spaced
Staff attentive and felt comfortable
Harper’s needs to expand their menu since the pandemic appears to be clearing up. Food is consistently very good-excellent quality, as was service, but menu is too limited. Outdoor dining is nice/cozy...indoor really needs improved lighting. It’s simply too dark inside...the low light ambience is a nice touch, but overdone to the point of being gloomy.
We were there during a very rainy damp period and the restaurant had a very musty odor, table top looked clean but did not feel clean- the finish felt “tacky”/sticky, “decor” in the room we sat in was was supposed to be an antique look but was just depressing and ugly; food was not brought out in the order we requested, asked for no nuts on something, they put them on anyway. If it hadn’t been pouring rain, we would have left and gone elsewhere. Very disappointing because we had been there several years ago and loved it.
I had brunch on Sunday so I chose the French toast with fresh blueberries on brioche bread with maple syrup.
I have to admit I was distracted by the Risotto balls were so good🥰
Will go back for dinner
