Harold's Bistro & Bar - Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We were there with friends on a Friday night. It was not a full house, but food took a long time to come (after an hour). Food and service were always good... just SLOW. So, if you want to visit, maybe a Sunday night would be a better choice than a Friday night.
This was our first time at Harold's and we were pleasantly surprised . The menus Is varied with something for everyone. The food we had included classics like chicken pot pie and liver and onions to a miso black cod. Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! The service was really attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend Harold's.
Tonight, I had an Entertainment Coupon for buy one get one if you get 2 drinks with it. So not really 50% per se, but up to $20 off. This is the first time in my many visits where they slapped on the 15% gratuity for me automatically.
Nope, there was not a group of us, just myself and another. When asked about the gratuity add on, the waitress said that her manager said this was due to the coupon. That's never happened to me before at this place or any other place - ever.
I do NOT appreciate it when people force me to tip a certain amount, especially when it's unannounced prior. For groups, I understand. For using a coupon? That doesn't make any sense to me.
I do not like to be surprised when the cheque comes. I'm just offended - were my tips from my many previous visits (at the same or better rate) not good enough for you?
I especially do not like it this time because we've been here so regularly and have brought various birthday parties and group dinners here throughout the past couple years.
Therefore, I've made the executive decision that we will no longer be returning here.
We eat at Harold's fairly often and usually have the same dishes. Their soups and prime rib are very good. So are their soup and sandwich combos for lunch. This time I tried something different: their vegetable and tofu rice bowl. I didn't realize that it would be a curry dish, which I normally wouldn't t have. I guess the "butter sauce and naan bread" in the description should have alerted me to that possibility. The server immediately offered to bring me something else when he realized that the dish was not what I expected. I decided to eat it anyway and it was not bad. The service is always good, only slower when they happen to have big groups to look after. But generally it's not busy, not noisy, a good place to enjoy a meal with family and be able to have a conversation during it.
For the last two times we visited Harold's, food and service are all consistent and good. Though there is always room for improvement, we did enjoy our dinner, especially there is so much space for kids to run around outside the restaurant in the hallway. This is a very kid-friendly restaurant with good food choice and easy access to washroom. We were just excited to sit at Harold's table the last two times. :)
We came here for dinner and sat in the lounge. The TV screens had the game on and the sound was on the game as well. There were $5 pint specials and appetizer specials while the game was going on. We shared the wings, they were hot and delicious, and we particularly liked them because they were not breaded. We also had the Prime Rib special that was only on weekends (Sat - Mon). $25 for Prime Rib with veggies, mashed potatoes, and soup or salad, I picked the Chicken Noodle Soup. It was a delicious meal. Our server was super nice, quality checked all of our food. Our seats were very comfortable as well. We'll definitely be back.
No complaints. Food was good, not great but good, portions were decent; price was a little high comparatively. Service was quite good, our waitress was cheerful, attentive and the kitchen co-operated time wise. Overall, it was enjoyable but supper for two at this price range is competitive and the lack of ambience and good but not great food makes it a second or third choice.
The kids menu was the worst I have ever come across in restaurants. And we dine out many times a week. $8 for a small pizza with minimum toppings that my 7-year old couldn't even be filled with. $7 for a small Kraft-quality mac and chess. There wasn't any side dish, no dessert, nor kids drinks to go with it. I'll stay away from this restaurant if I'm with kids.
The food was pretty good....I do think the Peking duck spring roll appetizer could have used more than a whisp of duck in there! I really enjoyed the entree, the fish was delicious, the sauce was perfect, the rice was plain white rice, maybe a brown rice or something would have been a better option, and the beans were too hard to cut. The chunk of fish was huge and the best part of the meal I really enjoyed that! The Desserts were great, we tried the creme caramel which was perfect, a rich chocolate cake, and the NY style cheesecake was also good. Overall I would go back if I needed a casual place for good food! Our server was excellent, very polite, kind, and accommodating.
Food is good but service is only ok, we were placed the table furthest away from main area in which table and chairs were added on, the place is not really that busy as I can see vacant table . I am also surprised by there is no senior rate for seniors. The editor did not refill drinks until we ask for it. I was hoping better service than that. The complementary parking for restaurant guests is good too
Service was bad, our server wasn't friendly, fake smile, not helpful & professional at all. Food, was alright but my pulled pork was completely burnt and the steak with mushroom sauce, turned out with gravy with few slices of mushroom. Is it called mushroom sauce?? This would be last time going back to Harold ever.
The past 2 times I've dined at Harold's the food & service have been disappointing. Cocktails are atrocious! Brunch was ok but for a few dollars more you can get an excellent meal elsewhere. The hostess marked me as a "no show" despite checking in upon my arrival. Not planning on returning
If you invited a good friend for lunch at Harold's Bistro and;
1 - They took care of your parking, 2 - No long wait to get service, 3 - No long wait for your food to arrive, 4 - Your server was friendly, helpful and courteous, 5 - You and your friend totally enjoyed your food, 6 - The courtyard dining area was very pleasant and relaxing, 7 - The background noise was moderate allowing you to converse with your friend without a headache, 8 - You did not need a second mortgage to pay for all of the above, what you would call such a restaurant? I would call it a FIVE STAR, heck a SIX STAR ( if there were such a rating) Restaurant. But unfortunately, they already have a very nice name. It is called Harold's Bistro & Bar.
My girlfriends & I went to Harold's for drinks & appies & we were disappointed. The cocktails were atrocious- couldn't even drink them & sent them back. Our server happily took our drinks back but didn't recommend we order more cocktails- she suggested we stick to beer or wine. Also, the appies were not hot & bordered on cold. Would recommend for lunch but not for an evening out. However, the Bread pudding was amazing!
Came here for a quick dinner after work. It was pretty late but I guess there was some meeting or celebration in the back somewhere, so the restaurant was a bit loud despite it being empty in the front. The staff was quick to serve us but our waitress did not seem attentive at all. She wasn't rude or anything, but she didn't seem friendly to us, just took our order and left (9pm, long shift?). We ordered the crab cake burger and the lamb shank. Both were really good. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, but I would have to save up a little bit more money before deciding to come back.
The moment we were seated, we noticed service was lacking. Ambiance was lacking as well....it was dead on a Saturday evening. Despite it being a slow night, several servers walked by our table but none stopped to take our orders. We had to flag down a server in order for him to get our server to take our orders. The tuna I ordered was mediocre....it was encrusted with a nasty flavor...tasted like all spice to me....if it wasn't encrusted with that, my meal would have been perfect.
The food & service were better than last time. Service was terrific, Carly showed us her friendly smile & well-knowledge about the food. She didn't say no to our request, she'd try to accommodate ea of us. Carly, I hope to see you in the same restaurant near future.
I have to mention the hostess who has blond long hair wasn't... 1st, I came in 20 mins earlier & she said, you were early. At that moment, I was?? As a hostess, wasn't she need to say, let me get your table ready/bring you in and it's not telling your customer you were way too early; unless you want me to come back in 20 mins?? I don't think it takes 20 mins to set a table. I made the res 3 weeks in adv and your res should have set and organize already & res wasn't 1/2 full.
We had never been to Harold's before, and were pleasantly surprised. The waitresses were second to none. We tried this restaurant as we were
picking up someone from Vancouver airport and thought we would leave early and have a meal before 7 p.m. pickup time. We lost our way to
the restaurant, so had to phone them. When we got there, we were told that the girl we talked to was concerned about us finding the place.
We were seated by her and then met our waitress. What a pleasure. She was so pleasant, talked to us so freely, and was so interested in our
lives. Didn't get her name, but she was originally from Fiji. Would certainly go back to this restaurant!
I really enjoy dining at Harold's. The hostess we had (Hillary) was extremely polite and welcomed us with a smile and friendly disposition. Our server (Kori) was also very helpful in answering our questions about the food. She too, was very friendly.
I was only upset that your Bellini's, which I always enjoyed very much, are no longer served! BRING BACK THE BELLINI!
The family and I were there for Easter Brunch and I have to say, this is the first time I have dined at Harold's since they did renovations and everyone was impressed with the selection and quality of the food. Dare I say, it is even better compared the the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver one! They had quite a spread with a good variety for brunch, and what impressed me even more is the attention to food levels, and the constant replenishment. You don't get food that has been sitting out for hours. Awesome service, friendly servers and great atmosphere. Will definitely go back!
