What Insiders Are Saying
Harlem Tavern is a big place to bring 30 friends for beer and burgers.
The food was great, drinks were well mixed and delicious. Great customer service!
The setting was nice. However, the food was horrible and our waiter was never around. We had to ask other waiters and servers to find him to get service. The noise level was so high, I was literally screaming to my friends in conversation. We couldn't hear one another. Place looks nice but overall satisfaction horrible. I was so disappointed with how bad the food was.
Interesting place for the setting. Average food though.
The service was great. Key was amazing as our server. The food was fantastic and the rose sangrias were so good.
I would recommend Harlem Tavern, but not on a holiday. We ate there on July 4th. The food was very good, especially the lobster rolls, although small compared to what seafood restaurants offer. The drinks were very good.
However, service was terrible. The drinks came late, the food came late. One person in our party didn't get their food until 20 minutes after everyone else. And we had to ask a different server to get it. We asked for catsup, which came twenty minutes after the french fries. Again a different server brought it. The restaurant did however discount our meal. The waitress was not apologetic at all. However, the manager was very responsive.
Love this place. The staff was so friendly and accommodating that we’re going back this Sunday!
There was a fixed priced menu for brunch that included mimosas. Our waitress took our drink orders but did not mention that. As a result we paid for mimosas thT we did not need to order.
The Henny Punch is the bomb and the food was actually very good.
Simple menu that's pretty accessible for any type of visitor.
A couple of the entrees arrived cold which was frustrating after having waited awhile for the food.
Service could've been better also. We asked for drinks and condiments (nothing complicated) and had to keep re-asking for things throughout the meal.
I'm not sure what happened to the service but our waiter just... disappeared. We had to ask another waiter 30 minutes after we were done with our main dishes for the bill.
Celebrating a birthday. Nice outside seating and music was playing.
Made reservations and the hostess said we couldn't sit outside. Said we needed to include seating outside on reservations. The table we sat at kept rocking back and forth. We was placed in a corner. Ordered chicken and waffles and chicken was cold. Ordered steak and eggs and the eggs were runny (not good). Maybe it was a bad for them I don't know.
The atmosphere was so welcoming
I went to Harlem Tavern to celebrate my graduation and am very happy with this choice. The appetizers (chicken quesadilla and fried calamari) were amazing, as were our entrees. They were offering a plate of rice, beans, steak, pico de gallo, and avocado, and I'm so glad I took them up on it. It was absolutely delicious. The menu is extensive, so trust me, you will find what you like. If you like your food on the hotter side, be sure to specify that. Our food came out at a 'ready to eat right now' temperature (which we all liked), but some people like their food much hotter than that. Overall, I'd eat at Harlem Tavern again, and would definitely recommend it to a friend.
We were there during happy hour and it was great vibes, great food and great drinks. Our server was amazing. He was very patient and kind. Will come back soon.
Harlem Tavern is a fun place to gather with friends. The people who work there are friendly and the food is DELICIOUS. One of my friends is a drag to eat out with because she is so hard to please, but she kept raving about her veggie burger, saying she had had them all over the world but this was the best she had ever had. I can't wait to return.
Our server was not good at all. He was inattentive. He took so long to bring water, food and even the check. Why would it take 30 minutes to get the check? Then I had to walk to him to get it because even when he saw me motion for him to come to the table he acknowledged us motioned back and went somewhere else. Then I had to chase him to get our cards and receipts because that was another 20 minutes. Blatantly disrespectful.
I could have enjoyed my brunch with my friend, whom I hadn't seen for quite some time, and who was at HT for the first time, if we weren't surrounded by the big dogs that the other patrons were allowed to bring along. Every time the dogs shook themselves, their fur flew all over the place, including everything on the tables surrounding the area. The space was tight, so that meant the dogs were extremely close to the other customers, including us. They were also licking people, as dogs do. We ended up changing our outdoor seats on a very beautiful weather day, to indoor seats to avoid fur in our food and drinks. I love dogs, but not when I'm dining out. Normally, The HT is one of my favorite places to dine because of the food, drinks and atmosphere, but recently the allowance of animals has caused me to view the establishment as unsanitary and lacking cleanliness. Merely having patrons with animals sit outside does not alleviate the issue. I noticed the Dept of Health Grade is "Pending" now when it used to be an A. I can't help but to wonder if part of that is because of the allowance of animals.
We had a party of 7 for the Jazz brunch and we were seated right away! Food was good, brunch deal was even better (not unlimited mimosas but entree and 1 drink for only 17 bucks). The drinks by themself were not that expensive. I would definitely recommend this place to large groups that are in need of a quick fun brunch spot.
Overall great atmosphere and great service
Fast service & great food. Would recommend for a friend gathering. All American food so everyone can find something they like.
Music was a bit too loud, but other than that, great!
Great place, but a little bit noisy
Went to dinner before our Sip and Pour. This place super cool, food was surprisingly excellent, servers are super friendly. Good music as well!
Great food in a local spot!
Had A wonderful time with my friends, It also was my 1st time and was truly IMPRESSED ! They satisfied my needs && service was INCREDIBLE.
Great food. Yummy drinks. Awesome energy. Live Jazz Band for brunch. Friendly servers. Will return.
Experience was great as always, but just a couple issues: (1) calamari was not great and (2) ran out of the draft Brooklyn Winter Lager.
Fish was dry. It was overcooked. The mahi mahi and the cod. The flavor was good though
Great atmosphere and service. Food was really good, but my table was awfully wobbly. No matter...good times all around.
Liked the happy hour menu. Our waiter was nice and full of energy. DJ was great.
They seated us in the enclosed outside area. They had no heaters in the area it was COLD as NY has been very cold. They should not be able to utilize that area if the temperature is in the 20’s degree point. How much is it to invest in a proper heating system for that area!!!! My husband and I got up to leave and they offered an inside table. Why not have done that originally, no one was seated at that table prior. I saw them seat a couple with a baby in that outdoor rented area it was to cold for me so I know it was to cold for that baby. Insane!
Came from South Jersey and returned back the following week. My new spot to watch the games when I’m in NY! Music after the game was right on point.
Great vibe for large groups, but don't expect to be able to have much conversation. Very loud and hard to hear.
Great experience with my family. Food was amazingly delicious!! We ordered shrimp quesadilla, mac and cheese and the artichoke and spinach dip. Server Capri was fantastic in the beginning then as the night went on, it was hard to find her when it was not as busy. Overall I had a great time
They had a ton of foods and drinks on the menu but when my guests and I requested over 6 items on the menu the waiter stated they did not have those items. This was discouraging us from ordering anything else. However, our waiter was amazing..
The server barely came to us and never apologized when she came back. Other tables also mentioned how negligent she was.
I had a situation where I called to find out if kitchen was closed for the night. The answer given was the kitchen will be closing in 15 min. I didn't want to chance missing the food so I asked if the woman I was on the phone with if she could place my order and I would be there in 15mins. I had a table reserved already. The woman then told me that she could not place my order but I could get takeout.. At that point I was confused. So I ended the conversation and I didn't come out. I was extremely dissatisfied with tone of the woman I was on the phone with. I was absolutely angry that I wouldn't be able to have drinks and eat as I planned all day. I will remain a customer after this point because I like the Harlem Tavern. I just don't want to be disappointed again.
The restaurant was relatively empty yet the hostess seated us under a heater that was blowing on our table the entire night. As a result everyone at our table was overheated and uncomfortable throughout the meal. I understand the need to heat the restaurant, what I don’t understand is how you could have a heat vent blowing on your guests all night, it ruined an otherwise pleasant evening. We were celebrating a special occasion, the food was good, and our server was lovely. It could have easily been a great time had it not been for the sweltering heat.
Food was a little slow, however, it was worth the wait. Portion sizes were great and drinks were tasty. A great value. Eight people ate and had drinks for only $340.00.
