The host was friendly and courteous, our server was fantastic in helping us decide what to order; he had great suggestions and helped us with timing of food courses so we could try different things. The food was excellent, perfect portions (not the ridiculously huge amounts most restaurants serve these days) and not so little that we felt like the price wasn’t worth it. Food presentation was lovely, especially our dessert which came with a chocolate that had the words “Happy Anniversary” in gold on it (our first wedding anniversary was the occasion). Even the person who served water was very attentive, never allowing us to go dry for a moment (great especially since we don’t usually eat such rich foods). We are very happy with our experience and definitely recommend to any and all people looking for an exquisite dining experience.
Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. He made great suggestions on wine and appetizers and provided great service throughout the meal. The food was delicious and there was lots of it. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Was a little disappointed that reserving three weeks in advance for our 25th Anniversary we got a table right behind the hostess desk. Food and service was phenomenal as usual though. Been going since our 4th anniversary. Never disappointed in food.
The service was absolutely exceptional. We had a great experience at the grill. I was truly hoping for amazing food given we all got meals that were nearly $50. I know I was disappointed with the sea bass, it was good but not the great meal I was expecting for $50. My parents liked their tenderloin. My husband got a steak and said it was good but average. I was disappointed they did not have lamb on the menu, I saw it online and had been looking forward to trying it but they did not have it avaliable. It was a good experience but honestly not worth the price.
I never made a reservation at Hardware Grill. I live in a different country. I have complained to Opentable that they allowed someone to enter my email address without verifying that the person really had access to that email account, and now I am pestered with unwanted emails regarding the reservation, and the likely chance of unwanted junk emails from restaurants or other companies because someone entered an email wrong and Opentable did not verify it. I want to invoke my GDPR rights and have all records containing any reference to my email address be deleted from all your databases.
A bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. I had the crab crusted salmon and my partner had the Alberta Angus Beef Tenderloin. Both were excellent and the portions were pretty generous. The tenderloin was particularly sumptuous. It just melted in your mouth. The sides were good too.
The food was tasty, but I found the prices to high. There was no ambiance.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary here. The staff were friendly and our server was very knowledgeable and choose a wine that paired our food very well. The meals we had were great, we will be back and will let our friends know also.
Dinner out celebrating our Anniversary. Comfortable seating in an environment where we could actually talk with each other. Food was absolutely fantastic with some great coaching by our waiter making sure we didn't over order. We had the Sea Bass and the Bacon Wrapped Elk. We will be back!!

The Hardware Grill never fails to disappoint! I have had the privilege at eating at many of Edmonton's finest restaurants and the Hardware Grill continues to be near the top of my list for best places to eat. First of all, the service and ambiance are second to none. The lighting level is intimate and the noise level allows you to have a conversation without having to raise your voice. The decor is traditional and matches the era of the building which makes it timeless, not trendy. Our server (Shane?) was enthusiastic, friendly and genuinely happy to make our night out fun. His timing and delivery of service was impeccable. A true pro and a credit to Hardware Grill. Now the food...in one word...amazing! The Duck confit and waffle was arguably one of the best appetizers I have ever eaten and could have been a meal on its own. For a main course, I had the tenderloin, and again, I was blown away. The quality of the meat was second to none, and was cooked to a perfect mouthwatering medium rare. My wife had the vegetarian platter and she could not believe how rich, flavorful and filling it was. We finished with a chocolate dessert that hit all the right notes and served as a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. The cost of the dinner was fair based on the quality of the food, service and drinks. It is fine dining, but with a more laid back feel. No stuffiness or pretentiousness. We will be back!
Butchers cut was not tender
The staff are amazing and friendly, from the time you enter to the time you leave. For the menu there is an awesome assortment to choose flavorful apitizers and main courses. We have been here several times and always look forward to our next visit.

If you would like something other than the box store repetitive menus, where every item on your plate has its own distinctive taste, this is it. That coupled with more than reasonable pricing made for a great experience.
A high end restaurant for fine dining. Our server was very experienced, friendly but too rushed if he'd slowed down just a bit it would have felt more genuine. The food was excellent and good value for the quality.

Consistently excellent service and attention to details. Food is always very well done with local fresh ingredients. Their scallops and KFC appetizers are always a hit with group dinners. The sea bass is my favorite main course with lovely flavours.

Amazing place. We travelled from maidstone Saskatchewan for our wedding aniversary to try this place, because a friend recommended it and we will definalty be back. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
Loved it from the moment we walked in. Very engaging gentleman that seated us. It was our first time and we'll definitely be back. The only negative aspect was right as we were leaving. We were talking to the gentleman that seated us and takes care of the door. He was asking my wife about her birthday and a woman that appeared to possibly be a manager cut us off mid sentence and told him he needed to go do something. Very rude and uncalled for. As well our waiter needs to learn the difference between green beans and asparagus on your salmon dish. Which was fantastic by the way!! Overall wonderful experience and tasty tasty food!!!

We love sitting by the kitchen to watch the chefs. The menu is unique in every category. We had the buratta cheese salad and it was delicious. My husband had the salmon and I had the vegetarian meal. Both were delicious, but way too much Mac ‘n cheese to even come close to finishing, delicious dessert. Fantastic always.
Thank you for a lovely evening. My Fiancé had not eaten at Hardware for 18 years and was very excited to return. It was everything we hoped for. Clint was especially delightful and kind to share his time with us and some history of the restaurant. We had 4 appies and a dessert which more than filled us up - they were all excellent!
Hardware Grill is a little on the $'s side for us ... but we try to get out to restaurant's like this a few times per year for the adventure of a creative food experience ... and we weren't disappointed!
We had the first time slot in the afternoon/evening and it was a quiet, pleasurable atmosphere. By the time we were done, it was busier but the noise level was still in check.
When my wife and I go out, we try to mix and match dishes and share ... so we can have a broad flavour experience. We went with the "pick 3 menu", had plenty to choose from and certainly had more than enough to eat (we hedged our bets at the start and ordered an extra appetizer ... but in the end it was a bit much for the two of us).
I have to say, from the starters, thro' the main course and on to the dessert, there were no "losers" ... all the food was amazing ... just some was more amazing than others! The mushroom soup was probably at the top of the list ... the blend of flavours was stellar! For me, the flat iron steak was next (my wife is not a steak fan so ... IKR?) - it was perfectly prepared, tender and ... indescribable! ... the desserts were impeccable and "tittlating" ... all round, a great dining experience.
... even though it was a bit $ I have to say that I feel we got more than value for our money :)

Everything you ordered came with an abundance of "fillers". For example I ordered the seabass and received a small piece of fish that was $52 along with crepes filled with potatoe and other mixed veggies that did not go well with the seabass. Very dissapointing...
The first time I dined in at hardware was AMAZING... The server was by far the Best server I've ever had. Sea bass was INCREDIBLE- it was like butter. Cooked with absolute perfection. I was so impressed with the service, food and the value I got out of it. In fact, I thought it was very affordable. I decided to come here again for mother's day dinner. I was telling everyone to they needed to check out Hard ware grill.
Unfortunately, my second visit was very dissapointing.
The sea bass was way overcooked - we had to use a steak knife to cut it open. The top of the sea bass was also pitch black and the first few bites also had a very fishy taste lingering our palates (something I did not recall the first time I had it). Also looked like it was burnt. We asked the server for another one instead. The second one came back overcooked as well. It also took a lot longer to receive the dishes. I felt so bad bringing my mother to a restaurant where I thought had the best sea bass in town.
The staff also seemed a little sloppy. They just came to toss the bread on the table quickly without saying much. Didn't really explain the menu and even taken time to ask how our evening was.
Before, I felt like every dollar spent here was worth it. But im not sure if I'd be back next time.
Air conditioning wasn’t working but everything else was very good.
