It was our first date & now it’s our anniversary special occasion date. Love it!
Our party of six had a really lovely evening at the Hardware Grill. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Service was perfect- plenty of time between courses. Very nice wine list. The food was delicious ! Perfect lamb, beautifully cooked sea bass, delightful pasta dish etc. and the trio of chocolate desserts was yummy 😊. Highly recommend this restaurant in Edmonton.
Hardware Grill is a staple in the Edmonton food scene. Always generous portions, always great service and always amazing! If you haven’t gone, you should try them. They’re exceptional at what they do!
Highlights were the smoked salmon and roe dish, fois gras, and the Korean fried cauliflower. The lobster risotto was not creamy, was bland, and the lobster over cooked and dry. Duck was good but undercooked. The bread was disappointingly like Wonderbread- dense, soft, packaged white bread. Lack of herbal notes throughout the meal. Blood orange gelato was bitter, lemon was good. Profiteroles were soggy and brown rather than light and crispy. Still a good meal and great ambience but there’s been some slippage.

I had guests from BMW head office in town on business. As they typically eat at high end restaurants, their comments were that it was one of the best, if not THE best, restaurant that they had the pleasure to have supper at. Food was excellent, service was not what we’d expect for the price and reputation. Our server seemed a little put out when we ordered from the “prixe fixe” menu ,we had to ask for it and were then told we had to order dessert with starter and main course because we ordered from this menu. Once we ordered the server obviously had more important people to talk to because he wasn’t interested in us after that. When it came time for the bill of $135 we had gift cards to the value of $150 which was also a major inconvenience “ he had to go to another machine “ when he came back he just threw down the receipt to show the gift cards were all used so our option to tip was taken from us, he was to keep the remaining $15 and would have received the other $20 we had in our hands if he’d taken the time to talk to us. This service was a little disappointing as these gift cards were a birthday gift from my daughter and her boyfriend. I would definitely go here again because the food was great.
It was a wonderful evening out to the Hardware Grill. It was a special occasion and we were treated like it was just that. Great service from start to finish. The drinks were delicious and the food was even better. Would definitely be back!
Family was in town and we wanted an upscale dining experience in a downtown setting.
Every element on the plate was delicious and my tenderloin was cooked to absolute perfection. Great service and casual, friendly atmosphere.
Attentive table service was excellent. We had the crusted Salmon special and the porkchop and both were perfectly prepared with excellent accompaniments.
Our waiter disappeared for too long between the end of the main course and dessert. I am a beef lover and the only option on the menu that night was a tenderloin or a huge 16 oz slab of steak. How about a strip loin or something like that? We are in Alberta after all.
Went here for my 25th birthday. Server and staff were excellent and very attentive. I drink a lot of water and my glass was not empty once. We had the lobster pasta and the 12 ounce ribeye and it was the best ribeye ever. Loved the gingerbread cake with mango ice cream and fresh berries. It was a fantastic birthday dinner.
Pretty mediocre. Ordered appetizers that were served faster than McDonalds. That’s a turn off. Homemade ricotta appetizer was tasteless. Carpaccio was mezze mezza. Chose to leave and have dinner elsewhere, which turned out to be delicious.
It’s a nice place for a drink and a snack.
For a restaurant that specializes in meat it was nice to see that that can cater to us vegans as well!

Our server was great. Very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was very good and well proportioned.
Food is absolutely delicious. In my opinion, the best restaurant in Edmonton. Others are trendier, but Hardware Grill is a classic, serving delicious high quality food. My wife and I go for all our special occasions. Pricey, but worth every dollar.
We order the 40 day aged ribeye, lamb rack, crispy pork belly, and crispy duck confit. The ribeye is perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. The lamb is a bit disappointed tho, it’s definitely overcook given that we want it medium rare. Overall it’s a decent restaurant.
Great food, great service. Ordered the sea bass and it was delicious. The dessert menu looked intriguing but unfortunately we were all too full.

Unfortunately our experience did not start out very well. On my reservation I mentioned that we were "celebrating our 35th anniversary, and a table with an intimate setting would be greatly appreciated" Upon arrival, the restaurant was very quiet, and the hostess seated us by the front door - with a clear view of the kitchen and all of the servers running back and forth with meals. I reminded the hostess that I had requested an intimate setting and she said "I thought this was intimate". Strike one on customer service! She then appeared to be ticked off and marched us to the far end of the restaurant and set down a couple of menus at a table on the back wall. Didn't bother to ask if that table was acceptable or not and walked back to the bar and sat down to chat with the bartender again. Strike two on customer service! We just moved ourselves to a nearby table that had a bit of privacy and all was good. Our server was great, the food was great and we ended up enjoying our experience in the end. Too bad the hostess was terrible but happy that we were able to make the most of the experience.

We had an excellent time here. The service was the best because the waiter was so passionate about this place and the delicious food and wine. We we're able to keep conversation as the noise level was quiet to moderate. The meals were delectible! No complaints, only good things here.

We never took our kids before so we wanted them to try this restersnt, they want to go every year for there birthdays and we don’t have to give them a gift they think the restaurant is better then a gift.
I personally liked my meal and “got” the olde world ambience but the rest of my Five person party were non-plussed by thr experience. Chose it because it was number 3 in Avenue’s 2018 restaurants - loved my duck dish but various others failed to please. Service was great
Once again the Hardware Grill wins my heart. A lovely dinner with friends who were experiencing the restaurant for the first time. The service was friendly and prompt, the food was delicious. What more can you ask!
The waiter and staff set the tone for an enjoyable experience. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were strong and delicious. The food was served in hearty portions but not too much where you would leave a lot on your plate. We had the charcuterie plate and bone marrow for an appetizer and the elk & short rib dinner and duck dinner as our main.
The whole experience and especially the food were outstanding. Anyone looking for a great place to dine in Edmonton should try this place. We're from Chicago and so glad we stopped in.

The hardware grill was one of my favourite places to eat and I normally order the sea bass. I decided to try the lamb and was very disappointed. They were very small and worse than that they were over cooked. I had to send them back
Hopefully it was an off night.
We sat at far end of restaurant felt isolated. No candle lit until I put it on end of table to get attention. The plates were cold so the scollops didn’t stay warm long. The wine was excellent and the smoked salmon was excellent. Service was exceptional
Tired menu and tired service, badly in need of a refresh. They need to move on from "Gordon Ramsey loves our Sea bass" and "Connor McDavid" eats here 4 to 5 times a month. This has been a favourite of ours but it needs to step up its game now that there is a lot more completion downtown!
Would have given a 4.5 star rating on a couple of the categories if I could. The tortellini appetizer was amazing. The chefs cut steak was very good but honestly I expected more for flavour considering it was Wagyu. Also, I have been here before and would like to see some changes in the menu options. Overall it was an excellent experience and I totally recommend this establishment.
