Great server, delicious gourmet dinners, accommodating to food intolerances.
Great place for a good meal. For one of the places considered "best in town," it's really not pretentious at all. Service is not intrusive at all, never felt pressure to order more drinks, and everything came in good time and was delicious. Good portion for the price. Not a single complaint. Best meal I've had in Edmonton.
We went there for our first time on Friday and loved everything about this restaurant, food was great!
Had an anniversary dinner at the Hardware Grill, and was very impressed with the high quality burger as well as the vegetarian sampler we shared. Would highly recommend and looking forward to going back.
Chose the restaurant because it’s consistently rated as one of the best in Edmonton.
The service was outstanding. The waiter was very personable and helpful.
Food was good. One friends ordered the salmon, he said it was a bit overdone. I ordered the lobster and shrimp linguine. The flavor of the sauce was a bit strong, maybe a bit too much brandy, and it was and extremely rich.
The elk and sea bass dishes were ok. Good, but not outstanding.
Perhaps the more memorable dishes were the appetizers, the scallops, crab cake and fried cauliflower were all very good.
Ambiance is great too.
Next time we will probably order a selection of appetizers instead of the dinner dishes.
Great experience overall. Staff were very professional and friendly.
The food was fantastic and our waiter was amazing. So friendly and you could tell it wasn't just an act to get a good tip.
Shane was an amazing server, food was amazing and the atmosphere was quiet and intimate. Could not ask for a better restaurant
Food - good. Portions - big. Calories - high. Service - great. Decor - perplexing. The restaurant is beautifully appointed, don't get me wrong. However, I was very confused by the art on the walls. I personally don't get the combination of high end decor, bronze pig? statues and large paintings that look like the were recovered from an 80s hospital waiting room or a library before that building was shut down due to funding issues lol. Seriously though this is a good place to eat - just try to ignore the creepy paintings.
Always great! If you are from out of town make sure you go for a great dinner.
We had a wonderful dinner with friends. Food was amazing. Our server, Clint, was very personable, knowledgable and attentive. We look forward to our next visit and will definitely tell everyone we know to go there!
Excellent menu, great service, good experience all around. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for the memorable New Years Eve meal!
Excellent New Year's menu. Thank you Larry and Melinda for another great dining experience.
Best meal ever. And we are chefs ourselves. My highest recommendation.
Came here with a group of friends, 6 of us in total. I was wanting to support a long time restaurant, but unfortunately it just doesn’t compare to places like Nineteen or Uccellino. The prices are high and the quality did not match. My steak was undercooked. I sent it for recooking and it came back exactly the same. It was raw raw raw. They didn’t charge me, but still. I left dinner hungry, which fails to qualify as a good meal out. The ambiance was weird too. A fine dining restaurant and they had top 40 pop music playing. The restaurant might suit some people, but not a diner that enjoys trendy restaurants with good food this place just isn’t that. Again, some of the people in our group enjoyed their meals, but they all agreed it just didn’t compare to other contemporary options in the same price range.
My wife and I went there to celebrate her birthday. Very tasty food and great service. Would go again for a special occasion.
You would think going to celebrate a birthday they would at least buy the birthday person dessert.
Too over priced and not much value for what you pay for.
Fabulous dinner with great service. It’s nice to be in a quiet restaurant where you can easily have a conversation at your table without competing with loud music or other noise.
Our dinner was awesome. We totally enjoyed our food and wine. If your visiting for the first time, you should look for Shane. He is just really warm and very helpful to us.
We hadn’t been to the Hardware Grill for awhile. Don’t know why. Everything was absolutely fabulous! Will have to make a point to come more often.
Had an amazing experience. The food was delicious, I ate so much that I felt full for hours because I was enjoying it soo much. We were celebrating by girlfriends birthday and our server Dean made the whole experience extra special, she got a delicious piece of cake for desert that said happy birthday on a piece of chocolate that was embedded in the top of the slice. The portions were perfect for everything we ordered.
Experience was great from the beginning and continued throughout the time we spent there. Shane, our waiter, showed concern for our time schedule, was attentive and overall a professional waiter! We have dined at the grill before and received the same good service each time.
We googled restaurants downtown and it had a great review. We know why. We had a great waiter who recommended meal ideas and both were superb. We loved the ambiance as well. My husband and I don’t go to fancy restaurants very often so we definitely loved our experience.
A long time jewel in the Edmonton food scene ...always has and always will
Disappointed. We were here a few years ago for our children’s graduation, really enjoyed it. Came again for my husband’s birthday. Food was ok, service very poor for this price point. Bill was close to $400 with tip for 3. Wine was decanted, after that we poured it for ourselves. We were sharing plates, had to ask for serving utensils with every course. Table clearing was sketchy, we piled the plates in the middle, they didn’t seem to want to reach to the end of the booth. Bread and oil plates were still there with dessert. They did take a dessert we found inedible off the bill. Manager never came into restaurant to check on tables. So much competition in the dining scene now, at these prices it should have been a better experience.
Overall great dining experience. We took our time, tried some new things, food was well prepared.
Friendly staff and delicious food as always!
Amazing as always. The food is always great and Larry the chef is very accommodating to fussy customers like me.
Always a pleasure to eat here. Food, service & ambiance consistently remains at high quality
It was our first date & now it’s our anniversary special occasion date. Love it!
This is the first time most of us have been to this restaurant. Both the food and service were excellent. Will definitely be back.
Our party of six had a really lovely evening at the Hardware Grill. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Service was perfect- plenty of time between courses. Very nice wine list. The food was delicious ! Perfect lamb, beautifully cooked sea bass, delightful pasta dish etc. and the trio of chocolate desserts was yummy 😊. Highly recommend this restaurant in Edmonton.
Hardware Grill is a staple in the Edmonton food scene. Always generous portions, always great service and always amazing! If you haven’t gone, you should try them. They’re exceptional at what they do!
Highlights were the smoked salmon and roe dish, fois gras, and the Korean fried cauliflower. The lobster risotto was not creamy, was bland, and the lobster over cooked and dry. Duck was good but undercooked. The bread was disappointingly like Wonderbread- dense, soft, packaged white bread. Lack of herbal notes throughout the meal. Blood orange gelato was bitter, lemon was good. Profiteroles were soggy and brown rather than light and crispy. Still a good meal and great ambience but there’s been some slippage.
Good food and service. But too expensive. Value not there
Lovely place, we really had a great meal and nice time
I had guests from BMW head office in town on business. As they typically eat at high end restaurants, their comments were that it was one of the best, if not THE best, restaurant that they had the pleasure to have supper at. Next time they are in town, we are definitely coming back. - Gerry Lorente, Bavaria BMW
Food was excellent, service was not what we’d expect for the price and reputation. Our server seemed a little put out when we ordered from the “prixe fixe” menu ,we had to ask for it and were then told we had to order dessert with starter and main course because we ordered from this menu. Once we ordered the server obviously had more important people to talk to because he wasn’t interested in us after that. When it came time for the bill of $135 we had gift cards to the value of $150 which was also a major inconvenience “ he had to go to another machine “ when he came back he just threw down the receipt to show the gift cards were all used so our option to tip was taken from us, he was to keep the remaining $15 and would have received the other $20 we had in our hands if he’d taken the time to talk to us. This service was a little disappointing as these gift cards were a birthday gift from my daughter and her boyfriend. I would definitely go here again because the food was great.
Always a favourite
It was a wonderful evening out to the Hardware Grill. It was a special occasion and we were treated like it was just that. Great service from start to finish. The drinks were delicious and the food was even better. Would definitely be back!
