A friend and I went to celebrate my 65th birthday and it was exquisite! I had been there many times when it first opened but had not been there for at least 15 years. I love the layout which allows for more intimate dining. I had the scallops as a starter and they were perfectly seared. I found the romesco sauce a bit powerful but there was plenty of the other sauces to highlight the delicate meat. I had the rack of lamb which was perfectly seasoned with interesting and very tasty sides. My friend had the elk and it was wonderful along with the beef rib meat. Her sides were also inventive and very tasty. I had the creme brûlée for dessert, one of my fave desserts, and this was the creamiest and tastiest I have ever had. We were both full but not overly so. Our waiter, Brett, was helpful with our wine choice and very knowledgeable about every item on the menu. He put in our orders at a pace that was just perfect.
The selection of wines, cocktails, aperitifs and beer would satisfy any taste and they even had an old favourite of mine that is rare to find on the cocktail menu these days which was so awesome.
All in all, the absolute best meal I have had out in many a year and well worth the cost. Definitely will return for my next birthday as this is a special occasion place.
Always a treat to come to this upscale dining establishment. Creative food without a doubt. Excellent wine list and cocktail delights. Loved this location for the last 20yrs., and love it even more today...
I had some coworkers in from out of town. It was quiet enough that we could have a conversation without any difficulty; which doesn’t happen very often for me as I have a poor hearing.
The food was very good, but did lack a chicken option. I didn’t realize when booking that one of the coworkers doesn’t eat red meat, so their choices where limited.
I would like to see a few dishes with alternatives for people that have allergies to dairy and bread.
I would have to say every time we go it is a dining experience. The Hardware grill never disappoints and constantly meets and exceeds expectations.
Amazing dinner and the service was excellent.
Great service and food as always
Always great food and service to match! Wine List matches the quality of food.
Decent food. Your definitely not going to get this on your "skip the dishes app". Good service thou. Too expensive considering you can get similar food elsewhere for cheaper.
We had reservations on Friday, May 3rd, 2019 for 6:15 under the name Kennedy.
We were very excited to enjoy a fabulous dining experience.
We were seated and our waiter was very chatty, which was fine,
We ordered our drinks, and chose 2 appetizers, and our main courses were salmon, and sea bass.
Our appetizers arrived in very good time, and were excellent.
We were short of bread, so asked for some more.
We received our main courses......my Salmon was only partially cooked.....I waited a bit thinking it may just firm up.....I took it apart a bit....and removed the raw slalom onto my bread plate. ( as I still had not received additional bread)
I finally saw our waiter and motioned him over....showed him salmon...raw on bread plate, and the rest still sitting on main plate...he said” well, I could take it back to kitchen”.....it was already separated!!!
I asked him for the bread again....which he brought, which became my main course.
When we asked for bill, I requested he tell chefs of underdone salmon, and he was “Sure”....no apology at all.
I believe our bill was $160.00.....I left 15.00 tip, only because m6 husband did enjoy his meal......
This is not what I expected from Hardware Grill.....very disappointed.
We will not be recommending this dining room.

My wife and I attended the Hardware Grill for the first time for our anniversary dinner. I originally chose this restaurant because of the good reviews and because it came up in Google searches for a fine dining restaurant - which is what we wanted. Overall we both rated our experience as "good" - perhaps 3.5 stars of 5 overall.
The major pros were: (1) the older ambiance of the restaurant, (2) the high-quality preparation of the food.
The major cons were: (1) the area of the city is rough in the streets surrounding the restaurant - it's an area you think twice about before parking your car in any surrounding area or walking alone in the evening, (2) the restaurant needs a good cleaning: the table we were seated at had a bit of a stale odor, (3) attention to the little details is missing: a) the water we were served didn't smell good and was served in heavy utility glassware, (b) plastic mesh mats were used under the plates, (c) Edmonton pop music radio was playing in the background (at 8:00 pm), (d) the main waiter was pleasant but not attentive and did not check on our satisfaction. (e) some food pricing seemed unrealistic, i.e., a dish with 3 scallops cost $22.
Neither my wife nor I felt this restaurant warranted classification as "fine-dining", except for the price charged for food.
We like to come here because of the atmosphere and the food. Food was very good and portions were very filling. Service was a bit over the top as he tended to hover a bit too much but was very good none the less. Great place for a group or a meeting
After hearing about The Hardware Grill and reading a few reviews , it looked
Like a hit or miss. It was exactly that, more misses than hits however. Not even an offer for coat check, it was a snowy day and noticed other patrons were struggling with heavy coats at the tables. Our bench seat was littered with crumbs which we wiped off the seat ourselves. Our waiter was so impressed with himself and the quality of everything such as “ everything
On the menu is good or It wouldn’t be on there” “how is everything?, oh wait of course it’s amazing, it always is” we hadn’t even replied yet. My scallop appetizer was quite delicious, perfectly cooked each on their own bed of delicious garnish. The Sea Bass however , smelled of burnt oil and tastes worse. Reminiscent of the IKEA commercial were everything is Flambé. The most expensive fish I never ate. My companions meal was just ok, In my opinion from a small bite I sampled (lobster and prawn linguine) The waiter did apologize for my meal and did offer to have another prepared. I was so turned Off by the smell I said no thanks, ordered a glass Of wine to wash the first taste down which he did comp. I managed to eat most of what was under the bass. The ambience was nice until The waiter had mentioned to a foursome across from us that If they were not going to order Anything further that their table was booked for another reservation. They put there coats on and left.
I don’t think I’ll be back. There are many other good restaurants with better food and service for similar price points.
Hope this helps any first timers wanting to try here.
We were celebrating my wife’s birthday with my son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The food was excellent and the service impeccable. A great place for a special occasion.
The server was knowledgeable about the restaurant and food. The food was beautiful and delicious.
I would recommend Hardware Grill to friends.
Very attentive and pleasant server. Food quality was very good.
We haven’t been to the Hardware Grill for a few years and it did not disappoint! It was a spectacular meal and the service was perfect.
A very pleasant dining experience particularly since the background music and other noises are unobtrusive and we can have a good conversation. I'm all respects I truly did like this restaurant.
Great food, service and ambiance. Highly recommended.
Our experience was outstanding. Great food. Our server Shane was amazing. We cant wait to come back.
Worth it? Absolutely
The whole experience was amazing, the staff is very professional yet fun and the food was amazing. The restaurant is large enough that you’re not worried about having a conversation with the table next to you or bumping chairs which is nice for a higher end establishment.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening there, will be coming back.
Sea Bass is a must have!
Would have to say, one of the Best Dining Experiences in the Edmonton Area...the Black Sea Bass was An Exceptional Dish ! Highly Recommend!
Birthday celebration. Table for 6, perfect restaurant for the event.
We each had the three course dinner options. Amazing good. Good portion size and great taste.
Terrific service, really, really great food, if only the location could be transported a few blocks west
Great food. Great service
Fabulous food, service, ambience .... everything! We started with crispy duck confit (super yum!) and crispy pork belly (also yum!). I had the pork rib for my main and hubby had the bacon-wrapped elk. Accompaniments with the meals were fabulous - we ordered a side of truffle mac and cheese - it was almost too much but super yum so we took it in a doggy bag. Salted caramel creme brûlée to share was the topper
... great wine list. A must-try in Edmonton!
Amazing food and great staff!
Order butcher cut wagu ribeyes -- very fatty and grissly. Disappointed
Excellent food good value and excellent service. We would certainly recommend this establishment.
It was a slower night but amazing food. Our waiter was fantastic!
The hardware Grill never disappoints. This dinner was a special celebration, so it was important that the atmosphere, food & service all be special & it was. The dining experience was excellent all the way from specialty cocktails through to dessert.
The foie gras was fantastic and the price was reasonable (the wine pairing was good too). I think this is the only place in Edmonton serving foie gras. The waiter was very friendly and gave us good suggestions.
Our server was horrible. He was Rude, made our whole table feel unwelcome. Was told to go to Joey’s down the road. If this restaurant considers itself fine dining, then the service should match that. Service from Macdonald’s was better than what we received.
Favourite place in Edmonton. Wonderful service & the food never disappoints.
We tried bone marrow and loved it!! Great experience!!
it's a great place to hang out for an evening with close friends and enjoy good wine, good food and good coffee
Excellent food and service as always. If going request to sit in Shane’s section. He is an awesome knowledgeable, funny and attentive server!!! Will be back soon
Excellent food, great service and a great dinning experience
