The room is Frasier-and-Niles chic, but the lack of pretension is pure Martin Crane."
Awesome food and staff. Extensive wine menu. Could not of asked for a better experience.
It was such an amazing night, the food was outstanding.
We went to the Hardware Grill for dinner on a Wednesday evening to celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary. As always, the service and food were impeccable. The wine list that the Hardware maintains is always fun to pour over, and we found a Premier Cru burgundy that was a dream pairing with our mains (duck and pork). Every element on our plates was beautifully paired and presented. The main dish serving sizes were very generous. Even though it is a relatively expensive place to dine in Edmonton, the Hardware Grill is worth every penny.
Hardware Grill is a amazing restaurant, I have eaten all over the world and its my favorite. The flavor is excellent every time and when you think you have a favorite dish and owner head chef Larry puts together a new dish that's better than the last one. Tried the pork chop it was amazing and I am not a big pork eater the flavor of the sauce made the dish.
We celebrated our anniversary with a dinner at Hardware Grill based on online reviews. Even so, we were still wowed by the flavour combinations and creativity of the food - fantastic! Our server’s knowledge and care were impeccable, and we had a truly enjoyable, relaxing evening. We would highly recommend Hardware Grill for a special dinner.
It's been a long time since I've been to Hardware Grill - this is an old restaurant that manages to feel fresh and if not new, certainly not tired. Every course was outstanding. I highly recommend the smoked salmon appetizer, with house-cured unctuous salmon draped over delicious, crispy and fluffy perogies, with a creme fraiche topping and caviar garnish. It was also a large portion - I could have made that my main easily. MrM really enjoyed his peekytoe crab cakes - he's a crab cake connoisseur, and he said they were outstanding. Main courses were excellent and again, large. We splurged on dessert too - even though I was stuffed, I had to have the salted caramel creme brulee. It was fantastic. Service was super professional, prompt, and friendly without being at all intrusive. I won't wait so long to return.
Excellent restaurant- food, service and ambiance - but the neighbourhood was not the best.
Good service and great dinner. Large portions and creative ingredients. Super tender elk and delicious short ribs. Gingerbread spice cake had a yummy Caramel sauce on it and the berry and rhubarb compote and ice cream complimented it very well.
As always, the food and service were excellent. However, that day was a very HOT day outside and their a/c was broken. The restaurant was SWELTERING. I feel like more could have been done to ensure people were comfortable. We came there partly hoping to escape the heat outside and instead it was even worse inside. They appologized for the heat, but I feel like they could have provided complimentary iced tea or something other than water to help keep people cool.
Had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Good food, good service made for a wonderful anniversary dinner.
We celebrated our 20th anniversary this week. We have been at the Hardware Grill a few times. The service and the food is excellent. If you haven’t eaten there, you need to as soon as you can.
Amazing as usual ! The Moscow mule is one of the best in the city !!!
The food was amazing!! Attentive server. Always a great experience
What a fantastic experience! Highly recommend the prix fixed menu. Offers a three course meal for$55. The portions are generous. The food fantastic. Wait staff was friendly and attentive without being annoying.
The maitre D was outstanding, the table staff were great, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Food was amazing and the ambience quite excellent. All in all a great experience.
From the service to the wonderful food was just spectactular , immediate seating and server at our table immediately, freindly but still very professional. Took the time to answer all our questions. The Charcuterie was phenominal, and absolute 10 for our time spent. Pricey but no regrets, well worth it
It was just awesome. I highly recommend this place. My favourite was the lobster sandwich & lobster bisque. I was still thinking about it until the next day.
Truly an amazing meal. We were so positively impressed, we have cancelled reservations at another restaurant and returning tonight.
We had an excellent evening. We were joined by two couples that had never been to the Hardware Grill and everyone was very pleased will the meal and service.
Pricey but excellent! Very nice touch at the end when they realized it was our son’s birthday. Perfect place for a special occasion!
We have been going to the Hardware Grill for years. While the food was good this experience was average. When we looked at the menu the waiter told us what was good. But there was a price fixee menu as well. Not mentioned so not sure if offered or a mistake. We were left alone a lot. That is okay except when you as trying to leave. Will return but maybe not as soon as usual
The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. I look forward to my next visit.
Food and service was outstanding; our waiter, took endless trouble to make our young guest feel special on his 18th birthday. Much appreciated.
Very few restaurants can hold an edge for so long in such a competitive market, but Larry Stewart and company have done it.
Little details still matter to him: corn kernels were cut fresh from the cob, good bread was served with good olive oil, wine arrived at the appropriate temperature, meat was cooked to order, vegetarian tasting platter covered many textures, flavours, and aromas (eg white truffle). Dessert, a simple creme caramel, was (simply) delicious, as was the molten chocolate cake.
Best thing? The owner/chef is in the house, watching, cooking, tasting. The Grill has a great reputation, and it's well deserved.
Food was good. The waiter was very rude and didn’t make our First experience good. He made comments and seemed rushed to have us leave. I would not return if he was my waiter again!
Hosting a colleague from the UK
Service outstanding. Nice sized portions. Flavor excellent.
Food was amazing and on point. Service was for the most part great- felt perhaps we were seen as less as a priority once more important customers arrived. Lovely ambiance. We will definitely return on a future visit to Edmonton.
If I had died at that table right then and there, I would have died happy.
The host was friendly and courteous, our server was fantastic in helping us decide what to order; he had great suggestions and helped us with timing of food courses so we could try different things. The food was excellent, perfect portions (not the ridiculously huge amounts most restaurants serve these days) and not so little that we felt like the price wasn’t worth it. Food presentation was lovely, especially our dessert which came with a chocolate that had the words “Happy Anniversary” in gold on it (our first wedding anniversary was the occasion). Even the person who served water was very attentive, never allowing us to go dry for a moment (great especially since we don’t usually eat such rich foods). We are very happy with our experience and definitely recommend to any and all people looking for an exquisite dining experience.
Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. He made great suggestions on wine and appetizers and provided great service throughout the meal. The food was delicious and there was lots of it. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
App - Lobster Risotto: Risotto was delicious, lobster piece was chewy.
App - Baja Scallops: The best! Cooked perfectly.
Main - Crab Crusted Salmon: Again, cooked perfectly. Gnocchi was a little soft but overall, a wonderful dish.
Main - Beef Tenderloin: Wanted medium, got closer to medium rare but not enough to disappoint. Spiced perfectly. Having both the beef stew potatoes and the short rib 'donut' made the dish a little heavy overall. Better to serve just one and offer another vegetable instead. The donut was amazing, though. Tender with an amazing flavour.
Excellent food , service was great and always at hand . Totally worth the cost ( 2 bottles of 180 wine )
Wonderful food, wonderful service! We will definitely be going back.
First time in many years. Enjoyed ourselves very much. Food ample and tasty. Excellent service.
Was a little disappointed that reserving three weeks in advance for our 25th Anniversary we got a table right behind the hostess desk. Food and service was phenomenal as usual though. Been going since our 4th anniversary. Never disappointed in food.
The service was absolutely exceptional. We had a great experience at the grill. I was truly hoping for amazing food given we all got meals that were nearly $50. I know I was disappointed with the sea bass, it was good but not the great meal I was expecting for $50. My parents liked their tenderloin. My husband got a steak and said it was good but average. I was disappointed they did not have lamb on the menu, I saw it online and had been looking forward to trying it but they did not have it avaliable. It was a good experience but honestly not worth the price.
I never made a reservation at Hardware Grill. I live in a different country. I have complained to Opentable that they allowed someone to enter my email address without verifying that the person really had access to that email account, and now I am pestered with unwanted emails regarding the reservation, and the likely chance of unwanted junk emails from restaurants or other companies because someone entered an email wrong and Opentable did not verify it. I want to invoke my GDPR rights and have all records containing any reference to my email address be deleted from all your databases.
A bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. I had the crab crusted salmon and my partner had the Alberta Angus Beef Tenderloin. Both were excellent and the portions were pretty generous. The tenderloin was particularly sumptuous. It just melted in your mouth. The sides were good too.
The food was tasty, but I found the prices to high. There was no ambiance.
