Harbourside Grill Ratings and Reviews
We reserved a table for dinner the day of our wedding, and we were not disappointed! We had reserved a table outside but it was so hot, we wanted to stay indoors, and the staff was extremely accommodating to this change. From the scenic view even from inside, to the delicious food and great atmosphere, this was the perfect choice for our wedding!
This was a wonderful dining experience. We shared the tuna tartar appetizer which was an excellent combination of flavors and textures. The cream of mushroom soup was excellent as was the Bibb salad. For entrees we had the grilled bone-in veal chop which was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and delicious day boat scallops. We ordered a side dish of the yellow grits that were very tasty. Food and service were both perfect. Highly recommended.
This review is primarily for the horrible service. My wife and I along with our two children went on a Friday night in May. Only one waitress was working. She seemed overwhelmed and also pretty clueless about the menu. It seemed to us that the only reason she got the job was that she must have been a friend or relative of the owner. We ordered 2 pizzas off of the kid's menu and the waitress served us 2 pepperoni pizzas. The waitress then tells us that she was unaware that the cheese pizza was an option which it clearly is on the menu. She acts annoyed that we are sending the pizzas back and says it will take a while. Fifteen minutes later she brings out the same pizzas which are cold and with the pepperoni clearly pulled off and some pepperoni pieces still on the pizzas. For us this was a religious issue, but it could have been a more serious allergy issue with some other food. We decided to cancel the pizza order not trusting that the waitress or kitchen staff wouldn't spit on any replacement food. We gave the kids some of the average food that we ordered and got out of the restaurant. The manager seemed genuinely horrified about what happened, but I'm not sure she can save this place based on the culture that exists there.
We were at the Harborside Grill on a quiet Monday evening. It was very hot so we sat inside at the bar. They have seating on comfy chairs and also at the bar. On a cooler night, eating on their extensive patio would have been nice. I had just an appetizer: mussels lowland style with corn kernels, fingerling potatoes and andouille sausage. There were crispy toasts to sop up the delicious broth. They were the best mussels I've ever had.
We've dined at the Harbourside Grill many times in the past and always had a good experience. This night was exceptional. The Heirloom Tomato salad was wonderful with a delicious creamy dressing and just the right amount of onion and celery added. The main courses we had were the Blackened Catfish and the Low Country Chicken, both of which were exceptional. We finished the meal off with a couple of their house-made desserts. Wonderful.
Menu is nice for lunch but forget dinner - limited choices, no flavor in entrees, small portions, grocery store produce. Really have no view of harbor just the boats right in front of the deck. Screaming kids right next to dining area where hotel pool is. This place would be fine for a quick sandwich but not dinner.
After a huge lunch in Annapolis, we just wanted a light dinner. We sat outside on a beautiful evening looking out at the harbor. We had specialty drinks that were excellent and then Miya wife had mussels and I had chicken pot pie-- both as good or better than any we had before.
The service was fine as was all else!
A nice comfortable bar and sitting area with a view of the marina and an outdoor dining area under cover. The menu was limited and very expensive compared to other restaurants in St. Michaels of a similar type. The staff was pleasant but the service was slow; so much so that we decided to go elsewhere for an actual meal and stuck to drinks. Nice place to sit & chat though.
The initial service was okay, although our waitress did nothing to enhance the experience. No recommendations or real guidance although she did mention that our choices were top sellers. The one dish was good but our experience with getting any service especially with regard to refilling drink order was terrible. If it had been overwhelmingly busy at that hour I might have understood the lackluster attention, but it was not. So although the food was not bad the front of the house brought the whole experience down. It's fortunate that this restaurant is located on a beautiful spot in St. Michaels Harbor. Luckily there are plenty of other options for those of wanting to relax and enjoy their meal as well as the scenery without having to worry about the poor service.
I was very disappointed with the Harborside experience right from the start. There are no signs pointing to the restaurant and the staff was clueless as to our reservation. The food at best was mediocre and the service was less than satisfying. I will not dine here again.
Dinner outside at the Harbourside is amazing. We were seated right in front by the water, and were mesmerized by the view. The food was delicious and the service was great. Shanika, our waitress, was lovely and even took the time to explain some of St. Michaels history to us when we asked. We left with our bellies full, and completely happy and relaxed. We can't wait to go back.
OMG -- their house cocktail - a peartini - was amazing. Amazing! I'm not a big cocktail drinker, but it was delicious - fragrant, not-too-strong, totally yum.
I had expected a more formal dining experience, not a "dining room" with a yacht dock in front and the hotel swimming pool to the one side ... that said, the weather was perfect, the soundtrack was awesome (oldies & motown), the service was friendly and fabulous, and the food was very good. There were three of us, and between us we shared the fried green tomatoes (yum); had jambalaya, soft-shelled crabs, and the fried chicken cordon bleu; and then shared their special dessert - a fruit pavlova with mango (?) sorbet... all of it was delicious.
Will definitely visit next time we're back in St. Michael's. Definitely our best meal in town!
The view of the dock from the outside, covered dining area was lovely and the food was excellent but the service was very, very slow. If we hadn't been eating with old friends and using the time to 'catch-up' it would have been unacceptable. There was only one server on duty. Also, the hostess didn't know anything about the beer list, which was unusual. That said, the crab cake was the best my wife ever had (better than G&M!) and the rest of our choices were uniformly delicious. So, if you're looking for an unhurried dining experience it is a good choice - the food was worth the wait.
We have eaten at Harborside grill about 4 time in the last month and a half. The menu is wonderful, the food always perfect. It's alway a pleasure to sit there looking out at the harbor enjoying our evening. I will say, this past visit, Friday the 14th, we again enjoyed a delightful time at the Harborside Grill. The restaurant was full and there was only one waitress working. The hostess did what she could to help. I want to say the waitress did an outstanding job and is to be commended for keeping up with the orders and customers, the whole time with a smile on her face. To the outstanding waitress, I say thank you! To the Harborside Grill, please get this woman some help!
Menu is not huge but everything was delicious!! Fantastic crab cake - loved the tomato salad, very good fried green tomatoes. Even the kids chicken strips u could tell were made there and delicious. We went on Mother's Day - gorgeous view and waitress was great. Wonderful experience and nice to not be a crowded spot. Glad to find this last minute reservation.
I took my family to Harbourside Grille for Mother's Day and we couldn't have been happier. The menu is small, but each dish is prepared to perfection. Everyone loved their meal. Dessert was delicious as well. The outdoor dining area is beautifully situated on the water, nicely shaded, with a great view. It was quiet, staff was friendly and attentive, the overall experience was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for great food and a scenic view.
Our server was very accommodating and friendly. We ordered different things on the menu, but they came with the same sauce, which was fortunately very good. My dish was supposed to have crab and shrimp, but there was clearly NO crab, even though we were told it was "in the sauce". At a seafood restaurant, you expect to see and taste the crab! We had a nice dessert which tasted as if it had been around a few days, but was still tasty and was presented attractively. I think that things are probably more "on" during the season and not on a weeknight. The setting can't be beat!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Harbour Inn and especially, our dinner at the Harbourside Grill. We enjoyed appetizers, soup and entrees that were both delicious and well prepared. The service was attentive without being intrusive and our server was very personable and friendly. We will definitely return.
