Overall: For the price, a pretty good option.
Last minute booking for Thanksgiving. They did not have our reservation, despite receiving a confirmation from Open Table. However, they still had a table ready for us within 5 minutes from arrival. Staff was warm and attentive but clearly overwhelmed. Outstanding "kids buffet." Excellent desert selection. Hit all the "must haves" for a Thanksgiving buffet but didn't really go beyond that.
Staying at Sheraton at Marina for business. Decided to eat in-house for dinner. Nice view of marina. My colleague and I were fortunate to get table outside. Service was a little confusing at first but ultimately, identified someone dedicated to us. Meal was very good!
We came here for the Easter brunch and the food, atmosphere and service were outstanding! There was an activity room for the kids to dye Easter eggs then an egg hunt in the garden. The buffet was comparable to other popular places. It's was pricey but worth it. I highly recommend.
I was very disappointed, we showed up to harbors edge on time for a Friday 9pm dinner 2/24/17 to find out we they closed at 8:30p.
The first staff member had no idea what we were talking about when we said we had an open table reservation , the the next staff member at the Sheraton resteraunt acted like he was doing us a favor just to inquire about the reservation.
The open table technology isn't working with big hotels,.
The question is whose fault is it, we travelled for a marina view because of Open Table said it was available. No doubt open tables fault.
When we reached our table the restaurant was almost empty. We had cocktails, during which two groups of about 12 each entered. We placed our orders for our first course of a soup and a salad, which came promptly, and for a pork chop and lamb chops (medium rare). We then waited at least 45 minutes for the main course. When it arrived the lamb chops were well done. The waiter kept apologizing but that didn't get us the food. Then the waiter brought the manager over but it still took a long time to get our food. In the meantime both groups had been served starters and mains. I ate the lamb chops anyway, they cut the tab by 50% and gave us a free dessert that we didn't eat. We stayed in the hotel for 3 days, and had similar delays and poor food.
I was staying at the Sheraton for a conference, and met up with a friend who I hadn't seen in a while. Our food (she had scallops, I had trout) was done to perfection. The portions were reasonable and appropriate, and the price was in line. Our waiter was friendly and offered suggestions about drinks, our main course, and the dessert. Sadly, he was the weak link. The restaurant was not overly crowded, yet he seemed overwhelmed. That said, I would certainly visit again. Our table was by the window, so we had a great view of the boats.
The service tonight was very good but the dinner itself was disappointing. My beet salad was good however the pasta dish I ordered was very bland, having little tomato sauce and few vegetables. The piano music from the bar was pleasant but overall ambiance was disappointing. Pretty much a typical hotel restaurant.
We enjoyed our Christmas breakfast overlooking the harbor. The hostess greeted us right away and seated us by one of their big windows as requested. Bryan, our server, was attentive with a very cheery personality. The food was scrumptious. I had the Chef's Omelet and my guy had the Huevos Rancheros. We would definitely recommend Harbor's Edge to anyone.
My husband, child, and I came to this restaurant because we were spending our Thanksgiving away from home this year. We are originally from Louisiana and came to San Diego for a small vacation before a wedding. We searched and chose this restaurant because of the menu and the buffet style. We were ignored the entire meal and watched as other customers were served drinks and champagne that was to be included in the $59.95 per person price of the meal. We had to beg bus boys just to bring us water. When we were finished with our meal and our infant became fussy, a waiter was no where in sight to take care of our bill. We had to go to the hostess station to let them know about our lack of service. All we received was a blank stare. They simply took our check and ran our card with no apology. We then requested a parking voucher that was also to be included, but they would not give us one because we left our parking ticket in the car. After the service we received at dinner, a voucher without a parking ticket was the least they could do. We received no apologizes; not even a "have a nice evening" or "thank you for dining with us". The customer service was absolutely terrible and ruined what could have been a nice meal away from our loved ones. I sure miss Southern hospitality!
The food and service were great, and those who get window seats get a pretty nice view of the marina. The place is pretty big and bustling, so it feels a little cramped with kids in tow, especially if you get a middle table, or if you're going to the buffet table. Not bad at all for a hotel restaurant.
My family ate here for Mother's Day brunch this year. The views are beautiful and the ambiance is great. The selection of food was very good - carving station, variety of cold salads (including poke, a caprese-style salad, greens, pasta, potato, etc.), omelet station, hot entrees (including options like ribs and salmon), desserts, etc. The brunch also came with one free glass of champagne for adults.
However, the brunch was only scheduled to go until 2:00 pm. Our reservations were for 1:00 pm. We were not seated until almost 1:15 and our server took another 10 minutes to get to our table. We were then told that everything would begin being cleaned up in the next 30 minutes, forcing us to rush through our meal. They should not have continued seating so late if they intended to begin putting away food and vacuuming a half hour later.
First off the service was top notch! That said, the food did not live up to the service. I started with a ceasar salad. It was just ok, it could have been a lot better. It was just plain. I went with the mussels & clams appetiser for my main. I figured the restuarant was right on the water they should have good seafood. Not so much. They were far from fresh, I spit several out as they were overwhelmingly fishy tasting. A strong indicator that they were old and way past their prime.
I finished with dessert, which was fantastic.
