Harbor House Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, and the service also. The special occasion was our 40th Wedding anniversary. I had called 2 days earlier and ordered a bottle of champagne to be at the table when we arrived. It was there and chilled. They told me the bottle was 50.00 and also asked for a tip, which I gave them 20%. The total for the champagne charge with tax should of been 62.75. They charged my card 82.76.
If you go to the Harbor House order everything after you get there. Don't pre-order and have to pay for any items ahead of time. You may be charged more.
The food was excellent and beautifully laid out on the plate. The wait staff was friendly and attentive to every last detail. We had a window seat with a very romantic view of the lake front and downtown. My only negative comment was the waitress in the bar seating area took a long time to come to our table to ask for our drink order. She was more interesting in talking to her 2 friends sitting at the table behind us. We eventually got her attention for our order. Other than that this was an excellent experience
Celebrated our daughter’s engagement with dinner. Although it was a bitter cold night the ambience felt warm as did the welcome. The entire staff made it a special night with extra touches. Delicious raw bar and seafood. Thoroughly enjoyable evening added to the wonderful memory.
Surprised at poor service. Many times in the evening we needed to ask for water. Also we were celebrating a birthday so they brought a dessert which was nice, but not unexpected. The issue is others in our group wanted coffee and dessert too. The staff took too long to bring menus and then come back to take orders. We opted for no desserts for others. Overall not the fine dining experience we were hoping for.
Our go-to spot for special occasions. Always great food and attentive service. The view of the Milwaukee Art Museum and the lake, even when frozen, is an added bonus. They gave our daughter a birthday dessert with candle without being asked. Nice touch. Highly recommend it.
The only thing that made the experience unenjoyable was the table we were sat at. The table was a two person table near the aisle, when we requested a table next to the window. We felt very exposed and had to watch out on either side to make sure we weren't in the way. Food was outstanding, worth every penny.
The “Lobster” pot pie was a gluey, gummy, flavorless, unseasoned mess containing undercooked carrots and not much seafood. The lobster tail was less expensive, so I would expect at least as much lobster. Not the case. Wait staff, while polite, seemed clueless and bored. So disappointed. Could have stayed home for a better meal.
Went with family of 6 for New Year’s Eve - my wife had the special which was good. My youngest daughter had the kids burger which was standard - I had the yellowfin which was excellent and my brother in law had the ribeye which was phenomenal - the beet salad was great also - my older kids both got surf and turf with filet and 1/2 lobster - that’s where things took a turn - the filet was good but lobster was very rubbery and frankly didn’t taste fresh. My kids usually go crazy for lobster but neither really had much at all. We’ve eaten there many times and will still go back but will certainly be hesitant to order the lobster again!!
I loved this place! My food was phenomenal, worth the drive. The service was very friendly and prompt. My only displeasure was that there was very little space between tables. More than once, items were almost knocked off the table due to the lack of space. People's bodies shouldn't touch tables. Overall though, this place was amazing, my food was incredible and the atomoshphere was upscale and delightful.
