Very pleasant restaurant with an ocean view. All of our meals were delicious!
Lousy seating next to kitchen service area where waiters hovered around our table bumping into chairs - food was ok nothing spectacular
Great place to eat.
Made a reservation for party of 7 and then an hour before called to change it to party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us no question. Some ordered the sea bass, shrimp scampi and coconut shrimp. All were excellent and would recommend. The only thing I didn’t like about the coconut shrimp is it didn’t come with a dipping sauce. Highly recommend the she crab soup and the lobster bisque. Sat in the covered heated patio with a great harbor view.
Had the seafood risotto which was good, but could have been better; there was a lot of water at the bottom of the plate which impacted the flavor and consistency of the risotto; I suspect it was from not properly draining the various shellfish that was the main part of the dish. My guest had shrimp tacos which she said were excellent. Our server Jojo was awesome!
Seafood selection was very good as was food preparation. Price was fair for the fare and service was very good. Would probably suggest selecting local fish. I had ono which is not local and it was a bit on the dry side although made up a bit by the beurre bland I ordered as an extra. Tasty Sazerac but served in a champagne glass instead of a tumbler over ice. Wine selection was adeuate. Great location and views.
Great service and atmosphere. I had the fresh fish "Halibut" and it was delicious. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an upscale evening at a moderate price range. I come to San Diego once a year from Minnesota and this is always a must one of the evenings for dinner.
My friend and I hadn’t seen one another for several months. We were waited on immediately and then left alone to catch up. The crab cakes were excellent and the filets were delicious. We will be back.
Amazing restaurant. The waitress Jojo made everything great!
Well thanks to open table we booked half hour before and got a fabulous window table with a perfect sunset while a long line of patrons without reservations missed out on any table near a window. The service was excellent and the food very nice with one exception . The mussel appetizer is horrible politely put , tiny mussels over cooked in a truly bad broths instead of being a nice light creamy coconut curry it was noxious tomato soup so spicy it smelled across the table and the pommes frites were swimming in the sauce. If a restaurant can’t get PEI mussels or the equivalent don’t put on the menu and revisit coconut curry sauce and French fries don’t being in the soup
Had a fun lunch here with the family during a trip to Seaport Village. On the positives, the view is spectacular and the food was very good (except for the Ceasar salad, which was tiny and pale). On the negatives, overpriced but as to be expected for a touristy area. Bill was over $100 for 4 lunches, with no drinks, appetizers, or desserts.
My wife ordered the shrimp scampi. The angel hair pasta was overcooked. They took it back and did not charge us for it and gave us dessert.
It was a special birthday dinner but never being greeted as such by either the host or the waitress
Went here for Valentine’s Day. The location is great but the food was disappointing especially for the cost. I had the paella and it was bland and much of the seafood was over cooked. My fiancé had the shrimp scampi and it also was bland and over cooked. Plus the shrimp were small, not what you expect for a $26 dish. We had the calamari for an appetizer and it came with marinara sauce. Who does that? We asked for some. Cocktail sauce and that was better. The only things that were right was the Stella I ordered and the Rosé my lady had. For a $100 meal I could have went to a chain restaurant twice and had better food. Needless to say we were disappointed.
Nice view of water. Service was prompt and courteous.
We had a great experience here, the seafood offerings are varied and nicely prepared. We can recommend the king crab claws which are really easy to handle as they crack them for you!! Our experience was only spoiled by a rather loud table of good old boys trading memories, one of whom wanted everyone in the restaurant to hear till someone on an adjacent table asked him to pipe down!! Don’t you hate when people have no volume control but the food was still great.
The food is at the right price for the size of serving. also, the food was at the perfect temperature to consume. The waitress wasn't hovering nearby like other places.
It was ok. The service was good, the avian e was fair. The oysters were good but the risotto tasted like it was cooked out of a box. Gooey texture. I had a Northern Italian Grandma who made a great pot of risotto and I’ve had great risotto experiences at other restaurants. The price point is too high to have average at best Risotto. Other then that it was an average overall experience. I probably wouldn’t go back in all honesty. I’d go to Seasons 52 which was my other choice that night.
I enjoyed it. I would go again if I’m ever in the area!
They hostess gave us a choice on the patio or by the window as suggested in our notes. We chose the window to see the nice view of San Diego bay. The service was excellent, we were served our food faster than we thought. Very attentive workers. The ahi tower was perfectly portion and I like how the ponzu sauce was on the side. Overall a great dining experience
Our 57th wedding anniversary and our Feb. birthdays. Thanks to the Chart House it was wonderful
Beautiful view and location. Tasty food but it was not served hot (was lukewarm).
Thanks for the great dinner experience. We enjoyed the amazing food, views of the water, the time to visit with our friends from out of town, and that my 6-year old was comfortable as well.
I visit this restaurant about once per year and have done so for the past several years while on business travel. The service is amazing. The food is very very good. Depending on which dish you get it ranges from good to great. Have always been able to get a reservation for a large party. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great waterfront restaurant with good food and great service. Oysters are delicious as were our main entrees.
View was amazing. Service a little slow. Food was okay. However, the messed up the tab and their card system overbilled us by quite a bit. It took a couple of days to get it resolved, but it was resolved. Parking validation did not work, but it was too late to fix when driving out.
If I go again, it will mainly be for the view.
Go to the Harbor House every time we’re in San Diego. It never disappoints!
Beautiful patio dining. Views of the water, harbor lights, good heaters. My shrimp scampi was insanely delicious. My husband had the old standard “fish and chips “. He raved about them. The restaurant was like an “old school”coastal restaurant but It was a superb dining experience. Not crazy fancy or overdone but nice and a little nostalgic. Two thumbs up.
Great family get together during the holidays.
Loved the ahi poki „tacos“ and She-crab soup. New England clam chowder tasted ok but was thick & flour-filled. And it had corn. As an East Coast person, I prefer no corn and many more clams.
We came here last year over the New Year's weekend and enjoyed the food and ambience. We were coming back this year over New Year's and I made a reservation 2 months in advance and asked for a window table. When we arrived the people in front of us said they had no reservation and the staff said "no problem, we can seat you on our heated porch". We were next, they confirmed our reservation and my husband inquired about a dining room window seat. The staff person said "sure, we can put you in our heated patio". Really? With the people with no reservation when I made reservations 2 months in advance? He took off and walked us by three tables in the main dining area with no one in them (by the way, two were empty until just before we left). We looked at the patio and said no thanks. There was a very small table at the main door to the patio (yes, right by the kitchen door) and he sat us there. It took 10 minutes for our waiter to show up and the door to the patio was open so a cold breeze was blowing on me in addition to getting to hear everything going on in the kitchen. After our food arrived the waiter noticed i was cold and offered to shut the door- thank you! As i started eating dinner the front desk guy came through and propped the door open again. My husband got up and shut it. My filet was over cooked. I asked for medium amd confirmed what that would be before I orderes it. It arrived almost well done and tough. Overall an under whelming experience. Not worth our time or money from a service perspective or food perspective.
We were seated at 1:30pm and our food arrived 2:50pm. Poor quality for the price. Nice view though. We won’t be going back to this restaurant.
Nice experience here
View spectacular, service good, food....not so much.
We had a lovely Christmas Eve Dinner at the Harbor House. Our meal was very delicious. The only disappointment was when we got
Home my father realized he did not have calamari on his galley plate, We did not catch it during dinner since we were having a great evening but the chef and server should have caught
I have dined at The Harbor House Restaurant many times however this past visit was on Christmas Eve. Dinner was awesome. Service was A+. Great view of the harbor as well as view of a beautiful sunset. I have never been disappointed with the food and service at this restaurant. The staff is wonderful and the food is always delicious. You just can't beat the beautiful views from anywhere in the restaurant. Anyone who I have taken to The Harbor House Restaurant has always been very pleased with the dining experience. I'll definitely be returning again soon.
We always include dinner at Harbor House when in San Diego. Both the food and view are superb.
Worst service ever. Waited ten minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were sitting at the table. Waitress assigned to our table finally came up to us and first thing she said was "ya ready to order"? No greeting, no info about menu, no asking about a drink order, nothing. The service did not improve from there - ruined our entire evening. We had to request bread when we were a table of six. Had to remind her about our drinks; finally came right before dinner.
Table was half inside, half outside of the patio area so some of our guests were freezing. Several times had to ask for heaters to be placed near us or turned on. Waitress just kept disappearing despite we appeared to be her only table.
Wonderful meal, wonderful service, a great time!
It was a great evening. We had our staff Christmas Dinner there and was able to have a table on the window to watch the Parade of lights. The service was great and so was the food.
