I was on a business trip and brought my husband along. We wanted to have a nice dinner at a place that provided a great ocean view. We had a great dinner and the view was spectacular. Great service and food.
Oysters and clams with chowder and salad. Just what I was looking for. Excellent waiter.
I had the seafood sampler, chowder and salad. Just what I was looking for.
All very good. Waiter Michael was excellent.
Here for a business trip and one of the easier places to get into using the reservation option.
Overly priced and unimaginative menu offerings. I had the shrimp salad at $22.95. The salad was nice, but the shrimp was so salty that I could not eat it
I chose Harbor House because I had friends in from Texas. Of course the harbor was beautiful, but I would not go back there any time soon.
Wanted seafood while in San Diego. This was close to convention center and had a view of harbor. Husband wanted crab legs which were very good. Nice seating upstairs by windows. Not fancy but nice.
Great location, friendly staff, diverse menu, fresh fish - all good!
Bad, just bad. Beautiful location but it's like Applebee's by the sea. Overpriced tourist trap!
Nice place, a little overpriced. Great food. You gotta try the Lobster Bisque !
Entrees were very good. The crab legs were a bit tough and the fried oysters were a little heavy on the breading. Overall very good service and a good value.
Very loud table of eight ladies next to us. We couldn't even carry on a conversation. Food was just so-so, shrimp was overcooked and small, fish and chips wasn't noteworthy either. Definitely was not worth $70! Server was scarce and ran out of drinks minutes before we finally asked another server to refill them. Didn't have enough fish options for our taste, and the other food was definitely overpriced. Hostess didn't have a record of our reservation and made us feel unwelcome.
Disappointed! Beginning with our reservation being lost, seated at a table by a window that the blinds were broken ruining the view, spotty service followed by getting the bill from another table. Noise levels were too loud to have conversation. Food was good, but pricey for the level of service...
That was hands down the worst restaurant I've ever been to
We had business meal at Harbor House on Valentines Day and they were still able to accommodate us with a group of 12 and we were seated at exactly our reservation time with no waiting. The Greeter at the Door and the entire Waite staff were excellent. Having not been there before I expected it to be a tourists trap but I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of the menu, the nice decor and the excellent quality of the meals. We will be back next year.
Food was bah at best! Under cooked and cold..... sea food was a major disappointment!
The waiter was extremely helpful and polite on taking our orders and serving us. The food had a lot of flavor and was served at the right temperature, meaning it wasn't hot or cold. Also, the views of the harbor are amazing!
I have been to The Harbor House Restaurant many times and it is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. This recent visit I took a friend of mine as it was a celebration luncheon for him. It was his first visit and he was really impressed with the food and the view and the service. We both loved the crab cakes (appetizer) and the lobster bisque soup. In my opinion, it's the best lobster bisque soup I've ever had. He had the king crab legs and I had the seafood risotto - both outstanding. The view is awesome no matter where you sit. The Harbor House Restaurant is great for special occasions as well as just going out for lunch or dinner. I have recommended this restaurant to many friends and will continue to recommend it. I'll be returning in April for my birthday.
Specifically choose Harbor House for a special Occasion. I mentioned in my reservation request that I was celebrating a 24 year anniversary. The staff was very welcoming and we were greated with "Happy Anniversary". Dinner was great, both plates were presented well and cooked to perfection.
A really nice place to have a quiet and delicious meal. Compliments to our server and the chef.
Very scenic waterfront location. Delicious veggie risotto for me and tasty seafood options for others. Quiet dining, great for conversation while dining!
Great food and service
View and ambiance was great, except wirpio the sports TV fans screaming in the pub. Steaks were not good not great, so overall, for the price we would only come for the view.
We were seated on the enclosed patio. It was a little chilly. The staff was very nice about moving patio heaters near us. Our waitress was very patient! We had a large group. She kept everything straight and even offered to do individual checks! I had the Sea Bass and it was excellent!
I was sadly disappointed with harbor house. I ordered the seafood risotto; it was very runny and not very good. My wife ordered the seafood alfredo and again it was not very good. We also ordered a glass of Kenneth volk with our dinner; one of our favorite white wines! It tasted like the bottle had been opened for awhile or not properly stored.
I would not recommended this restaurant.
I am out here just for ten days getting out of the cold weather in Mn. I always look for a resturant that is quiet, upper scaled (table clothes) and traditional menu. I have eaten here several times in the past several years and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent and I always get a good table close to the window with good scenery. I was just here two nights in a row and will come back again when I am back in San Diego. Keep up the good work.
Fish was over cooked and did not ask if fish was okay. Kids were not feeling well day after eating at restaurant
Good food, we arrived one hour earlier, and host got us a table, it was very rainy outside
It’s a great restaurant if you’re wanting a beautiful view, but unfortunately we feel that the food is over priced. Out of the 6 of us, no one was impressed by any of our meals =(
The servicer forgot our bread and butter then messed up our family members food never came back to check on us. The busboy was great and helped switched her plate out. Servicer still never came back to acknowledge how neglectful she was with us. We asked to talk to the manager who was lovely and apologized for the servicers lack of attention. But servicer continued to fail and never came back. We would definitely go back for the food but certainly hope that female servicer is no longer her there!
I ordered Fish & Chips with a cup of Clam Chowder Soup. My wife ordered Clam Chowder Soup and Caesar Salad. We requested that the soup be served first, but within two minutes my Fish & Chips and my wife's salad arrived. They forgot the soup. To make-up for the mix-up they gave us a Cheese Cake on the house. The Cheese Cake was delicious and the best part of the meal. The server did her best to make-up for mix-up.
We had a reservation, and were seated IMMEDIATELY upon our arrival. The service, food, and view was good (better than average). Overall a very nice Christmas dinner. Thank you.
Went to Harbor House for Christmas lunch -- very happy they were serving their regular menu, as I had a dinner to go to that evening. My waitperson (unfortunately can't remember her name) was extremely personable and eager to please, and had a great attitude for someone working on Christmas Day!
I ordered the soup and salad combo with an upgrade to the lobster bisque on her recommendation (it was excellent, rich and creamy) and the ahi stack appetizer. Everything was beautifully presented and just perfect for a light lunch. And the house Chardonnay was delightful, too.
A great view, a beautiful day in San Diego and a great meal -- couldn't ask for much more.
Love the crab crusted salmon. A favorite place anytime we're in San Diego. Have been here the last two Christmas Eves.
Nice view from table. Flavors and portions well done. A little noisy to carry on normal conversation but not a show stopper. A little confusion on the dessert order but acceptable.
Everything was great
Great seafood and view. Will definitely return.
I had an excellent experience with a meal with a good friend. So, excellent in fact that I booked a reservation for a party of 10 the next time I was back on the West Coast a week later.
We were seated by the windows - with awesome views of the water . Our waiter was friendly and just the right amount of attentiveness - made us feel comfortable and welcome. I had the crusted sea bass, which was a solid "10" ! We went to Harbor House after seeing the musical "White Christmas" and it made for a "fabulous" time per our daughter! Doesn't get better than that!!!! :)
Nice location, disappointing entree. Service was good, chowder was good. I had the sea bass which was prepared and pared poorly.
Pretty good seafood dishes. Nice view, surprisingly uncrowded and deserves more of a crowd.
