Harbor House Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant used to be the best. When I visit Sea Port I always went but from here on out NO. Food was not good. Service bad and they screwed up my parking ticket paid full price when leaving Sea Port Village. Would save my money travel up 101 and eat at the Chart House that place was Fantastic!!
I have eaten at The Harbor House Restaurant many times and it is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always incredible, the service is top-notch and the views are awesome. The lobster bisque soup and the crab cakes are two favorites. I have taken friends occasionally and no one has ever been disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant.
It was like eating dried out fish at a fast food with one hell of a view. I don't normally complain but management is in major need of soft skill training. When he told me he had been in the business for 35 years I started laughing hysterically. Not deliberately it was just automatic. Next time I'll read reviews prior to eating anywhere out of my normal area.
An utter disappointment. We had read reviews prior to going, and they were not very good so we are partially to blame for not heeding the reviews and staying clear.
The best thing about our dinner was the chowder. It was good...not exceptional, but good. I had the risotto which was underwhelming, and my wife had the salmon which was overcooked and dried out. The kids meals were ok, but they would have been happier with a bowl of cereal instead.
Cost wise, the prices were not outlandish however the quality of the food did not measure up.
I would not recommend the Harbor House to anyone. It's unfortunate because it really has a spectacular location and some great views.
I came here on a short trip to San Diego. Food was ok, nothing extra special but not bad. I had the paella which was a nice size plate , enough for one person. They sat us outside and it was pretty busy all night. Not sure if they had enough wait staff cause it took a little while to get things. It's in a nice location and overall a good experience. Creme Brûlée was pretty good
Food was mediocre and if you are looking for good service don't come here. We went on a Thursday at 5:30pm and it still took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. After we ate no one showed us the dessert not even able to ask a waitress, we saw no one and it took another 20 minutes to get a check. No refills on iced tea were offered and no asking how our meal was. We paid our check finally as we left 2 hostesses were talking up a storm to each other about a personal matter, not a single word to us on the way out. So unprofessional!
We have eaten at the Harbor House many times before this visit and every time we go they never disappoint us. The food was delicious and we had 2 servers consistently filling our beverages and asking if we needed anyyhing else. The view is beautiful and it just tops off the dining experience. I recommend. Enjoy.
We dined with friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was good. The service was slow but very dependable. The server was very pleasant. We were treated to dessert. It was very busy on this father's day weekend. I would definitely return here.
Made reservations for three on Father's Day. Waiter was not attentive. Did not offer us bread or give us the complementary bread. Hardly asked if we needed anything else. Was very short with us. Very disappointed with the service of the waiter. Will not be coming back to this establishment. Very poor customer service skills.
This was one of my worst dining experiences. 1) we had reservations and they sat walk ins (same size group) in front of us, 2) the waiter was lousy and never came around, 3) we had to r quest bread and butter, more than once, 4) our food took forever to get, when I asked why it was taking so long, the waiter commented that it was because of a large party, this included appetizers...raw oysters, now really, how long does it take to shuck an oyster. Poor excuse by the waiter, 5) food came out either cold, or was prepared incorrectly 6) dessert menu was lousy. Overall, it felt as though they had a lousy staff, from top to bottom, starting with the hostess, to the waiter, cooks/chefs. The lone area that was average at best was the manager who tried to make things better, which to an extent did happen. But if you are the person in charge, this shouldn't happen in the first place. Needless to say, this was and will be the only time I eat here again.
This honestly was probably one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I had been here previously and had a great experience, so I brought my entire family here for dinner and had a horrible experience. Service was spotty at best, and after waiting for over an hour for dinner, it finally arrived and half of the entrees were cold, one was not rung in by the server (it would have helped if she would have repeated the order) and the rest of the food was mediocre at best. It seemed like food that you would receive at a bad chain restaurant or banquet food. The vegetables and fish seemed as if they started off at one time frozen, not fresh, and it was not edible. Very disappointing and definitely not a restaurant I would ever recommend.
Lovely upstairs dining room, great view of the water... but, the food.
I ordered a cup of clam
Chowder. The flavor of clams was discernible, but overpowered by the sweetness and amount of corn in the cup. Chowder was very thick, did not finish it b/c it just wasn't worth the calories!
My entree salad- grilled shrimp, was drowned in dressing. The shrimp were good, and when I could hold up a blackberry, strawberry, orange section or piece of jicama long enough for the dressing to mostly drop off, it tasted
As I expected. The greens would have been good- except for that pool of dressing. Did not finish the salad.
Even my Moscow Mule was left unfinished. Oh well... the view was memorable.
I from Oklahoma to visit family made reservations way in advance for 7pm. Parking was terrible because it was prom and other events (being out of town, had no idea) was seated quickly, the main course took a very long time waited approx 1-2 hrs to receive it. I personally ordered a filet medium rare, it was as over cooked. Due to how long it took for our dinner, I didn't send it back but should have, especially due to what I paid for the meal and being out of town.
Food was good but service was disappointing. Seemed the server was in charge of a large area on his own with too many tables. Wife ordered an additional side of butter sauce bc her swordfish was a little dry. It took over 5 minutes to get and by then her fish was cold. Server brought drinks in the mean time. Butter sauce should have been the priority since the meal had already been served. Had to ask for more water multiple times. Something we should not have to do while at a restaurant. Overall experience was ok. View was great. Might consider giving this place another chance.
