Harbor House Ratings and Reviews
My 84 year old mother is visiting from New Jersey and we wanted her to see the Parade of Lights boat show. We had a great table with a perfect view of the bay. The food was so good - I had a seafood risotto that was delicious! My Mom had the crab cakes and raved over the jalapeño roumalade that was served with it - she loves spicy! We will be back!
Restaurant was great. But the parking was too pricey. We had our ticket validated by our waitress. And we gave to attendant and he advised we owed $11 for the 2 hours we were there. I thought that a validated ticket would be free and attendant said it would've been a lot more without it. That was disappointing for us. Is this something the restaurant can do anything about? Thank you
I was very disappointed! We went there for a non -traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I called ahead to ask if they would have lobster on that day, because that's what I specifically wanted. They told me yes they would be serving lobster. I also asked if we could have a water view with our reservations. When we got there, the place was half empty, but they still tried to sit us in the middle of the restaurant. I had to have a conversation in front of my family about getting a water view, because it was part of a surprise. Then they had no lobster! I only splurge for this kind of meal once or twice a year. I was really looking forward to the lobster! Drinks were way to strong, had to send them back and have a coke. After the salad, had to wait forever for our food to come out!! Lady serving us came over once to see how things were ,but stood right next to our table waiting for her tip! I'll never go there again! !
The food was just okay, nothing we ate was too great. But, the complimentary bread (sourdough) was amazing, it was the best sourdough I have ever had! The bread with butter was considerably tasty. The scenery was to die for, the view of the water was both beautiful and breathtaking. The service was good, the waitress checked up on us often, constantly checking if we needed more water or bread. Overall, the food was fair, and the service and location is great.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with friends and family at the Harbor House. We were very disappointed with the whole experience, service was slow, even though the restaurant was not even half full. As for the food I can only comment on their Thanksgiving preselected menu, I would compare our meal to something we would expect from Denny's, not unpalatable, but very bland.
Had grilled fish tacos - my favorite place to eat them and we tried to desserts and divided them up with the group - choc cake and the Key Lime Pie - Key Lime one the best but the choc cake was delicious too. My husband loved the fish tacos and since they were grilled it was a plus for him - he is trying to eat healthy! They are served in soft taco fashion and are quit filing. Can't beat the view.We might have gotten a new waiter but other waiters really kicked in to refill our glasses several times and make sure we got what we needed once I asked for something. Normally service is very good here. It can be packed at lunch hour even during the week so get reservations just to be safe.
This is a great place to bring out of town guests for the view, especially if you are bringing children. The food at best is average. Service was very good. Prices are reasonable, as are the portions. There are better view restaurants, but they are more expensive.
The occasion was my daughter's 50th birthday and I had requested a bay view table. We were given one in the corner which actually gave us better views than just straight on. The food was very good with friendly and courteous service. Thank you for a very pleasant dining experience.
My family and I have loved eating here in the past and I was so excited to take my husband to celebrate our anniversary. What a disappoint. The food was average. The server was terrible...never even coming to check on us. We were stuck at a little table that had me stuck up against a corner. The experience was such a let down.
LOVE their Tuna tower. Mixed sea food plate and paella are great
He an issue with a waiter when asked to change tables as the table next to us used vulgarity. He said we have a lot of reservation though they had empty tables. I told him we have reservation too. My husband talked yo the manager who changed our table right away but again the waitress was half hearted into what she did. We had notes that we r celebrating a birthday, no one mentioned anything. Other restaurants usually acknowledge birthdays with something and a candle. We love the restaurant have been there many times and was excellent. This time we so so
We were seated promptly at our reserved table. Then we were promptly ignored. Fifteen minutes passed and nobody came to take our drink order. Several servers were walking past our table, perhaps we were not seated in the appropriate section or no one was told that we were part of their section. Several tables who were seated after us received their drinks and Food in a timely fashion. Our table was never approached. When we brought the lack of service to the manager's attention, he tried to smooth it over, but by that time, we were finished with the whole experience. We ended up leaving and got a great meal at the Pier Cafe.
Have been here many times. Quite disappointed this past Monday. Food prepared poorly. White Sea Bass over cooked on grill. Restaurant has lost it's class and seems in need of updating. Service areas messy. We were seated in "outdoor dining", which is what we wanted. However, it was on the non-water side, in a corner in a tent-like structure. We should have left. Won't go back or recommend. Fish Market Restaurant is much better fresh fish selection, quality, service and atmosphere.
Wonderful waiter who saw to our every need plus free dessert on our Birthday! They have an elevator for my elderly parents and we had an excellent view of the bay and Coronado Bridge. We will go to Harbor House for brunch or dinner especially if it is a special occasion. I would highly recommend the sea food to any and all - try the molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream.
