This place needs an remodel/update. Went there for Sunday brunch and It’s kind of dark.... there’s a guy playing the piano/synthesizer when you walk in. People at the bar who look like they’ve been there for awhile. The food was just okay... my mother had a piece of bland fish that was slightly over cooked and I had a Caesar with very oily dressing... although the shrimp on top was very good. Our server was pleasant but we had to keep asking her for a box for our dessert. At least twice she said, “oh you need a box,” then never brought it. Finally wrapped our leftover dessert in a napkin. But glowing remarks about the carrot cake. It was excellent! I’d go back just for the carrot cake.
Great food. Great service. Great!
The servers are the best, friendly and efficient. We love the clam chowder.
Good food and service
Harborview was very good. The scallops were not quite as good as diver scallops we had at another restaurant on Balboa Peninsula. These scallops had a little sand in them. We found the red Thai sauce, although quite tasty, a bit overpowering for the scallops.
Fantastic restaurant in Dana Point overlooking the marina. Great value of both food/beverages. One of the best sour apple martinis I have had anywhere, very good wine list and plenty of seafood options. Nice ambiance and friendly service. The corkage fee is only $10 and they also donate to local Boys and Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley when you purchase certain meals.
We waited to be sat, 15 minutes after sitting and no waitress we left
The appetizers, entres and dessert were fabulous. The seasoning was perfect. We had the clam chowder, Caesar salad, lobster ravioli and scallops. We had key lime pie for dessert and coffee. The entres were hot and stayed hot through the meal. The service was great. I can't wait to go back and try something else. Wide variety of options. We savored every bite.
I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was very good.
My wife and I each had the crab Cobb salad. The crab was sweet with large leg portions and chunks of crab. I will most definitely be going back.
Best seafood restaurant in so Cal. Steaks, chicken excellent as well. Consistently excellent and great people.
Another wonderful family dinner at the Harbor Grill. The halibut was exquisite. The clam chowder delicious. And the portions generous and expertly cooked. The bread pudding divine. Great service. Great atmosphere. We will be back.
Always great food . Definitely my go to restaurant when I want a great meal, to know exactly what I’m going to get, and I feel like I matter as a customer. You always do a great job.
just LOVE Oyster Tuesdays! will be our new favorite thing to do on Tuesdays, for sure, plus they are partners with GiveDish - can't lose!
I am so excited that Harbor Grill is now a partner with GiveDish! wonderful organization, and happy to support all GiveDish menu selections.
It was OK but nothing special. I think the kitchen may have been having an off day. I'm sure I'll eat there again but wouldn't order the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. It was pretty blah. I indicated the noise level was "energetic" because "loud and obnoxious" wasn't an option. A table of four seated next to us were so noisy, my friend and I couldn't carry on any conversation. Irksome, but not the restaurant's fault by any means. The waitress did offer to move us inside which was nice of her but the loud people left before we were re-seated.
We were very disappointed that the menu did not have any local fish. They didn’t even have any specials which could include at least one local type of seafood!
Harbor Grill at Dana Point Harbor is a personal favorite - I drive up from Solana Beach at least once every few months to lunch with Orange County friends. The food is fabulous; the service excellent, and the harbor view is perfect! Thank you!
Harbor Grill turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It's not a super fancy place inside, but it's nice, and the food is very good. The night we went, there was a piano player, which was a nice touch. The music was loud enough to be heard, but quiet enough as to not interfere with conversation. It's located near the water, which makes it a nice place to walk around afterwards. It's definitely on my list of restaurants to come back to.
We had such a nice Easter brunch at Harbor Grill! We were given the option of indoor and outdoor seating, so we opted for outdoor. We had a lovely view of the Harbor but stayed warm with the clear plastic surroundings.
The bloody mary was delightful, and I could argue that their crab cakes were the best I have ever had! For main course I got seasoned mahi mahi with french fries. The fries tasted exactly like In-N-Out fries (weird for a nice restaurant), but the fish was amazing and fresh. My mother ordered the mixed fish brochette with garlic mashed potatoes, and she ate every bite!
Wish we had room for dessert! Overall a great dining experience. I will return.
First time there and as soon as we walked in a person was playing the piano at the front, we got checked in, and they cleared a table for us on the patio. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back.
Great food, live piano 3-4 days / week.
Servers are attentive and come by often.
Sunday Champagne Brunch is worth the drive.
It was a good meal but not amazing !
Terrific! The food was so good. I've eaten in the other restaurants in Dana Point way too much and the food all tastes the same after awhile.
I had trout and it was cooked to perfection. The mixed vegetables were delicious. The gazpacho was very tasty, spicy not boring.
Definitely a gem that we are going back to next week.
The Cajun blackened sea bass was just about the best fish dinner I’ve ever had!!
Special lunch with a friend.
Always great! My mom loves the waffles for Sunday brunch. The oysters on Thursday night are terrific!
We have recommended Harbor to many. Everyone has been satisfied and returned many times. Nice job remodeling.
I love the Harbor Grill! My family has been dining there for 30+ years and they never disappoint. The food and service is always amazing. It’s a special restaurant to our family!
Wonderful seafood restaurant on Dana Point. Fresh fish and friendly staff.
We return here once a week to every other week for Friday - Night - date - nite. Harbor Grill is our favorite for the food, quality, people and service & hospitality with great piano background and on the harbor for sunset dining on the patio. So much to enjoy again and again.
Thanks Keegan, Beverly, Victor and fine staff from chef to bus- team and fabulous servers.

Delicious fresh fish served piping hot and cooked to perfection!
Great looking menu, but food was a disappointment. Not real flavorful and fish was terribly over cooked in the bouillabaisse.
Piano music and player was excellent along with good food - fresh off the grill - all fish items were done nicely - went to this place twice in a week - a great find among other tourist traps in Dana Point Harbor
The decades we have dined at the Harbor Grill have been consistently the same: outstanding service and communication from ALL the staff, plus excellent food presentation and taste!
Fidel is fantastic, along with the rest of the crew. Always a pleasure to dine at the bar & catch up with Fidel.
Reliable and consistent quality food and service.
We are there every week!!!
Super! Seared Ahi on excellent greens. Always go to Harbor Grill every time I visit S CA.
Consistently great food , drinks and service- moved to area six years ago try different restaurants weekly and this is our staple-by far the best- every item on the menu is great- lunch- dinner- light dining or a multi course meal and can’t say enough about the mud pie- YUM!!!
