A regular on our list of favorite places to dine. While there are a few other choices, seafood is king and perfectly prepared every time.

The service is great, however, I believe the portions have gotten smaller for the price. Which I know many have had to do since Covid. So I’m just taking it with a grain is salt. The blackened sea bass was excellent, my friend ordered the shrimp tacos and they weren’t what he was expecting. They weren’t seasoned or anything and the tacos were fairly plain - just tortilla, lettuce and 4 great-sized shrimp. Did come with a variety of sauces. I called them “back East tacos” because I am sure my parents would love them, but for 2 people who were born in Southern California, I think we’re used to our shrimp tacos being more seasoned. All in all I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

The food was not all that great for the price. I had the sea bass and my husband had the lobster, both were overcooked

I was very disappointed with both the food and service at this restaurant. We had a 7pm reservation and still waited for our table to be ready. Once sat, we were served water immediately but it took way too long for a server to approach the table. She came, left after saying she’d be back and we had to flag her down. The food was mediocre, fries were not crispy, sauce for fish was in a side dish and the presentations were not appealing. We wanted to enjoy but didn’t. I don’t recommend and won’t be back.

Harbor grill is always consistent on every level.

Food is good, prices are reasonable, service is exellent. Nice accomadations with heated patio and good wind break glass.

Heater was not working, food was over priced, service was mediocre

Burger was without flavor and very small compared to similarly priced burgers at other similar restaurants

Shrimp was way over done and neither of us could eat more than half of our dinner.Server was very very good and apologetic and did not charge us for the entrées but we love the restaurant and will be back, they just had a bad night

Have been waiting for two weeks to get in to our local favorite and was really disappointed
We have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years and I guess I would’ve hoped would have been treated as such
First off we were seated as far back into the restaurant as possible without being in the kitchen - even after requesting the front outside patio
My husbands shrimp wasn’t fresh and my favorite Japanese swordfish was dry - and what happened to the Gazpacho ? Always a favorite - didn’t taste anything like the delicious appetizer Ive ordered for years
This restaurant hasn’t seemed to keep the high quality standard
Set by John Sr. ( owner) who always made us feel like family and served dinners that were absolutely yummy

LOVE the Harbor Grill! My best girlfriend and I have lunch there for our regular outing now that the patio is open again. Good food, great service, icy martinis...you can't beat it. So sorry Dana Point removed all the Eucalyptus trees from the parking lot though. What a mistake! Miss those beautiful trees!

Absolutely the best fish selection in South OC in my opinion. The open flame charcoal flavor on all the fresh fishes is second to none. Live piano nightly is great!

Excellent fish tacos, not salty of covered up with sauces. The fish was extremely fresh and flavorful. Oysters are fabulous and flavorful. Fish and chips also very fresh. Batter is thin and perfectly cooked. We sat outside, and the temperature was perfect with the way the restaurant is set up. Highly suggest!

Always the best! Can always count on Harbor Grill for consistently great seafood, (only restaurant that knows how to prepare scallops), and congenial service.

If you a vegetarian this is not the spot to go. There oysters were delicious and there salad was good. I enjoyed the atmosphere and great customer service.

Thank you. We had a great time meeting some friends there. Appreciate all the Covid mitigation measures which allowed us to still have a wonderful time. Our server was absolutely outstanding.

Would have given 5 stars , but we arrived and they did not have our rsvp or table ready. We had to wait 20 min.
We were seated and our server was great. The smoked halibut app was yummy. HuBand had the lunch combo cup of chowder and lobster roll. Delicious.
My fish and chips were a bit greasy .
We frequent HG and first time our table was not ready when we arrived.

Harbor Grill is doing it right with social distancing and all servers diligent with masks. They are not serving indoors, but in partially covered protected outdoor spaces. While not entirely “outdoors” since there were 2 solid walls plus plastic on a 3rd wall, we felt safe. We were impressed when our waitress offered many vegetarian options which were not on the menu.
